Portable Hand Sewing Station - English Paper Piecing - Jane Austen Themed
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Today I show you how to change a tray table into a hand sewing station. I use English paper piecing techniques to hand stitch a panel of 2 inch hexagons, 1 inch half hexagons and 1 inch hexagons and I add a zip to make it into a zip pouch/pocket. I attach it into my tray table with velcro so I can take it around the house and garden to sew. Everything can be put away inside quickly keeping it safe from my little boy and cat. The pockets can be interchanged for different projects too. I hope you enjoy this and that you get creative and make your own, all you need is an inexpensive tray, fabric, foam or wadding, a zip and some velcro.
Fabric is Pemberley by Riley Blake Designs
Location is Lyme Park - National Trust and the location for Pemberley in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

This video is so wonderful, and it came at a time when I needed something soothing and calming. The media negativity in our country can be so overwhelming, so having a place to view positive and creative information is so appreciated. I hope you are doing good and enjoying all of your hand sewing. Thanks again……………………….

Absolutely beautiful, a terrific project, but also a marvelous money maker, with just a pattern or possibly a kit including the lap tray. Don't sell yourself short on thinking about this as a viable kit for hobby shops and sewing shops and of course under your name.

Good Morning! From Tennessee, USA. I just found your page and love your work. I have a little folding table and plan to "better use it" in this way. Thank you. Not sure where my first comment went , sorry if you get two. The Jane Austin work is really fascinating. The coverlet must have taken forever to make . Seeing you making your bits was so different materials for you, but the finished items were as lovely as you always make. Thank you for sharing your time telling about Jane Austin and showing us around her house. I hope you enjoy taking your tray around the house and garden with you, so you can join your family while sewing.. it will make things very nice for you.lovely to see you today, hope you are still getting better, and will soon be back to your old self. Look forward to seeing you again soon.xx

Thank you for an enjoyable video. Kudos to you for combining hand & machine sewing when you create a quilt. Your taste in selecting Jane Austen-themed fabrics is a delight to see, especially as you know how to highlight the designs. It is a bleak, damp, rainy midwinter day in Canada, and your video brought Creativity, Peace & (Metaphysical) Sunlight.

What a lovely video. I am a Jane Austen fan and am entranced by the days of English Manors and such. How appropriate a project for EPP work. Thank you for sharing this tutorial.🪡😊🧵
Your channel is my favourite by far Emma! I truly appreciate all your videos and your lovely calming voice. Your little garden seat will be a wonderful place to relax and sew in the daylight. I love your garden and tonight am envying the cooling refreshing rain as we are still having 30+ heat here in Northern Ireland and I am not enjoying that. I never could understand why people paid good money to get sick in heat or sunburnt. My holidays are always home based and cool and comfortable and I love Spring because we have bright sunshine and fresh gentle breezes but no overpowering heat. I will make myself a little sewing kit on one of our lap trays as it's easy for me to balance. Thank you for sharing this lovely video Emma take care and God bless.vera

I bought a similar smaller tray from Home Bargains £3.99 yesterday and on the bus on the way home, I thought I would have another look at your videos as I recalled seeing this video. I have just spent a lovely fifteen minutes watching it with a cup of coffee and a piece of ginger cake! It is gale force winds and raining hard today in Blackpool, so just the day to be inside and transported to Pemberley, thinking of Mr. Darcy coming out of the water scene. Ha. I would love to have a go at the tray pocket. I did not know there was Velcro for fabric. Always learning from you every video I watch. Thank you so much for taking me with you to Pemberley this afternoon. ❤

I really did stop the movie to try to give it a thumbs up, only to see that I had already done it! It is gorgeous! And so perfect for the medium! I might have to scour the web to see if there is that exact same fabric available anywhere... @@emmajonesvintagesewingbox Emma, scrappy projects are what the Lord has led me to do. When I was very ill from stress, He lead me back to being creative. Like you, my creativity was tossed out the window the more successful I became. I felt he actually told me to craft every day to restore the health of my brain and spirit and I truly think it has been a huge help. I had no money to buy anything when I started back and the more I looked into the history of quilting, the more I realized that it began with women using scraps to make something warm for family members. They used their creativity to also make it pretty. Down here in south Mississippi in the U.S., some women used cotton balls from the cotton fields to stuff their quilts. I saw this done with a friend's mother's quilt and I was enthralled with the simplicity of each scrap being hand sewn over the span of a year by lamp light. I wanted to live that heritage and so I have been using scraps. On occasion, I purchase fabric but not too often. I have been given so many fabrics and supplies by friends who found out that I was making clothing from sheets and scrapping quilted items together. I had more than enough to make many things - almost too much. I sew on a treadle sewing machine that was given to me. I came across a video of yours a few days ago and I have been binge watching the videos on your channel. You have so inspired me that I have since started creating new templates from shapes you've used and trying to create some of my own. I am right now putting together a design based off your technique to sew smaller hexies onto the bigger ones and quilt as I go with a Valentine theme. Thank you for starting this channel. You're doing a really good job of it. By the way, my family owns a small multi-media production company and I think the way you are producing your own videos is excellent. You are a very talented lady - and I so appreciate that you approach all of this AS a lady. Lovely!
I’m a new viewer and I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to your channel. When ever I come across a KZreadr from England I always subscribe because mostly all channels are USA .
