Love the little 2.7, it sounds awesome and that rifle mechanism like gear change is nice bit of engineering. Even though, I own a 2.9 in my opinion a manual 2.7 Cayman (or Boxster) is the true representation of what Porsche originally set out to achieve all those years ago. The beauty of the Porsche brand is that one can choose the perfect Porsche for their personal taste, requirements and budget.

i love that the base model cayman is a very simple car, very pure. no lsd, only 5 gears and just nothing else to get in the way like the excessive electronics of modern cars. perfect amount of power for fun on english roads as well, can't wait to own one someday :)

2.7 is the way to go! There's a reason why the Carrera 2.7 is a legend 😉

Same model as mine. These engines are bulletproof. Whilst I'd love an S model, the difference in performance is so minimal, and you get less reliability issues with the base 2.7 (bore scoring, IMS) . Anyone considering a Porsche coupe, this 2.7 is the one to get. Best car I have ever owned and the most fun. The mid engine is an entirely new experience.

Plus the 5 speed gearbox is great, nice long gears and 5th is good on the motorway at 80mph.

Although I dont wanna invalidate your purchase, the IMS bearing only affects 3% of cars and the bore scoring is pretty rare nd preventable if your replace your fuel injectors

@@spyder_manlong gears are NOT a good thing on a sports car, they should be reasonably short with close ratios to make the most of the acceleration. If your that bothered about the rpm at 80 you should have got a diesel 😂

Love it! I own one myself, might be "only" 250 horsepower, but it still sounds just as sexy as any other Porsche flat-six. 987 or 981 is the quintessential entry level Porsche imo.

Hi! This is the most reliable car I ever had. Before I had a Boxster and both cars had very few little problems, which were very normal seen the age. Parts and labour are not very expensive. Every garage can maintain them, a dealer is not absolutely necessary. I highly recommend a Porsche.

Hi, always a risk. The engines are generally good but there are lots of parts which corrode and need replacement, such as exhausts, brake components and discs too if you don’t drive it regularly. The parts are expensive . But do your work work and find a good one 👍

Roman I The 8.1 is average of highway and town. When I drive a lot town it’s using 16 liters. 18 sounds quite high to me.

It's a very efficient engine. Boxer engines are awesome.

The gearing is too long as typical for Porsche of this era.

@@BelfastBandit 🤣🤣 sure man. The mk1 TT thats a 1.8 4 cylinder turbocharged is much better to drive than a 6 cyl NA porsche right 🤣 just say you cant afford a porsche and be done w it. Go drive a 2.7l cayman in the canyons and come back and say you still want to mk1. Only reason u saying that is because u trying hard on copium 🤣. Porsche handling blows the mk1 out of the water, weight distribution, engine note is all much better than the mk1 could ever do. But sure man. I know ur very happy w ur little mk1 😬 cheers
