Thanks for doing this! My project is on pause due to having a baby but this will be a great reference once I can get back at it!

Thanks for this. I recently cancelled my 07k plans for the short term and sold off all my parts but I’m glad you put this out there because I knew there were a bunch of things not mentioned that we’d need to know about. Good job on this.

Well I'm sad there won't be more 07k swaps, I totally get that. What are you going to do instead?

Thanks for the info . I am one of the first 10 kits that were produced and just took my entire swap and my car to work so that i can start on it this week . I`m going to have some long nights this week for sure . I`ll try to take lots of pics and do a little video as well .

This was super helpful. I’m a few months away from putting the engine in the car and you answered a few questions I had already.

BBG REALLY needs someone to do this work for them. There’s no excuse to just be lazy with documentation like that. Also, 18 months lead time is pretty inexcusable. I would have bought a kit 2 years ago if it weren’t for these issues, and I see no progress on them to this day. But I hope they do get their shit together eventually.

Really great points, i would say the best advice i was given from Elliot at 944barn was make sure to get all your parts together before pulling the car apart to minimize downtime. I ordered the builders kit for affordability reasons but there is so much stuff to buy to just make this work. Im in it for the long haul. I just really want to hear that 5 cylinder turbo sing! Keep up the good work man!

Well done for doing this. I am in Finland and I saw a green 924 with a 5 cly UrQattrro swap in Sweden. You can see this at restomodgarage on youtube. But these engines are rare/old even with Audi people. So that is how I found your channel. But i am holding off on the project as I can see that even you a person who lives in the US where the 07k is available struggling how would I suffer having to order something like the thermostat housing across the Atlantic. I looked into the alloy TT/RS3 5 cly as they are available here in Europe. But they are around 10k and then like you. It would be a case of learning by doing and finding new swear words. Your buying new bolts issue is probably for the better. Once you get it running and heat cycle it spanner check each nut/bolt and paint a bright colour stripe over it in reference to the case. This makes it easier to see if something is coming loose or not seated as access is difficult. I think its good you have paused to make the video and be honest as not every engine swap is a Sema build. As for the how to guide. I would take inspiration from Autodoc who are a parts supplier here in Europe. They treat it like a cooking programme, you will need this list of parts, these tools and then a separate method.

Game plan is to use the PE one that came with the kit. They didn't have a Haltech option at the time.
