Porsche 902 Transmission. Can We Save It! Inspection and Measurement

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the ultimate 902 transmission inspection. We take this partially disassembled transmission and take it down even further!
Follow along as we take it apart, clean for hours, and measure all we can. This transmission belongs to Mike's awesome 1967 911.
Check out his build here
‪@MikesRestorations‬
We have good news and not-so-good news with this build. But yes, we can save it. We have made an extensive shopping list and with Mike's new parts this will be a very reliable transmission rebuild. And it will look good too. Mike spent a long time getting this case this clean. With the insides getting cleaned up as well, this may be the cleanest manual transmission you will ever see.
An easy way to help us out is to share, watch, comment, and like a video. This will help us get seen, thanks. Remember, likes are free!

    @@klassikats hi again . After watching your 915 videos so many times i decided to start with my 915. Starting with the brand new 1st gear synchro ring and the new dog teeth.i placed the ring and brake band also new and the retaing ring and i started the measurements. on the larger site it was only 86.18 i know that the acceptable diameters for installed syncros are in the range of 86.20- 86.25 mm for the large 915 1-2 syncros. This is with the syncro ring bottomed under the engagement dogs and the side clearance between the syncro ring and the circlip. Porsche specifies 86.20 mm to 86.54 mm. So my question and worry. Is the new dog teeth and synchro ring for the trash. Sorry for the long text. I am from Greece. . Thanks

    No we have not done anything on the later model cars. Almost all the cars that we see are are from the 1960's thru the late 1980's models. Kurt

    Hi Kurt, I can spin the input shaft race in my ‘69 mag case with my fingers. It has no side to side movement. I’d like to try some loctite on it. Which loctite do you recommend?

  • @klassikats

    @klassikats

    6 ай бұрын

    If it is already spinning easily with just your fingers then loctite wont fix it. I use Loctite " Shaft Lock 660" but I still want some interference between the bearing shell and the housing. The only way to fix it correctly is to sleeve the case. Kurt
