Sid, great film, definitely one of the best ones yet.. the 718 GTS is an incredible car, amazing chassis, handling and this new engine delivers SO much power at any rev range, its SO quick people dont realise, and its finally enough power to push the chassis.... great stuff Sid, and amazing car the 718 GTS is

Drove a GTS yesterday. What a machine. So sharp

Literally a pleasant reminder of Chris Harris on Cars. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Sid, your delivery almost matches that of Chris. It's fantastic, the cinematography is on point and the delivery, as said, fantastic.

Own a 18 718 Cgts, stage 3 tune gives me over 500 horses to the rear, fuk me if that aint the best performing Porsche dollar for dollar they’ve ever built. So tunable, so fast and so daily usable. 🌶️🔥

I can’t get past the amount of times you change gear within a second of the previous change 😂

Great Vid, just ordered a 718 Cayman S 2 weeks ago, delivery in September, and this makes me happy that I made the right choice. Now just the long wait.....

Your videos have just gone up a notch with this one Sid, keep it up, great stuff!

I had a 2015 981 Boxster GTS..........I now have a 2018 718 Boxster GTS.......yes the sound is better on 981 but in my opinion it is not a better car. The 718 looks better, has apple car play and is noticeably faster! The 4 cylinder does sound different but I enjoy the sound of the turbos and a few crackle and pops! It's very raspy and cool! I absolutely love my 718 GTS

I like the engine note but if you cannot live with it by sports exhaust from Tubi Style or similar:)

Just doesn’t sounds like any modern production 4 pot and that’s something you have to love and allows you to respect it as a full sports car and not a hot hatch sounding TTS

It sounds like a Subaru cause it's a flat 4. It does not sound like hot hatch cause those are in line 4s. IMO the in lines sound a lot better than this fart bag.

@@ScottZ370 Dont see how it would aide or damage the trans.. Unless you're doing it wrong.

I wish people would quit bitching about the sound. It is different from the flat 6, of course, and that engine's howl IS beautiful to hear. But.... I don't think the 4 cyl sounds bad at all! Just different! And the torque from 2000 rpm is much stronger than my 981 had. The car is now faster, and I would say overall better.

Amazing review mate.

And if you tune this bad boy you can get close to 400whp/torque without too many other mods.

Why does EVERYONE say that it's like getting an S with all the performance toys at a discounted price?. It is not. It is cheaper ONLY if you would have bought the different front and rear fascias (i.e. the Sport Design Package). Here's a completely configured S with all the toys: www.porsche-code.com/PKRDLYQ2 Here's a GTS with the same configurastion: www.porsche-code.com/PK67DSE1 The differences between them are the GTS has black painted wheels (which I don't like as much), has the sport design package and has black tail pipes. Plus 15HP, obviously. The S is $98,410. The GTS is $101,420. Now, if you add the items mentioned to the S the price goes up to about $103,750 and it IS cheaper. But by far the biggest contributor is the facias and they are aesthetic changes that I don't actually favor rather than performance ones.

It’s a good car but I find it way too expensive, especially after you add all the options you want. For the money, you could get a 981 GT4, a 991.1 Carrera S or a BMW M4 Competition…

Out of those, only the 981 GT4 is a real competitor. A 991.1 will feel dreadfully sluggish and inert compared to the 718 (I've driven both back to back). M4 Competition is a BMW so nty

Changed from BMW M4 CP to a Cayman 718 GTS. I loved the M4 but the Cayman GTS is a superior car, more of an event, sharper steering, PDK beats DCT, perfect balance and the engine may be a 4 cylinder, but it’s the best 4 cylinder engine on the planet and behaves like an NA engine, very responsive and powerful. Could no he happier.

Hmm, at around 8:10, you said the car finally gets the motor it deserves. I think you probably meant to say it finally gets the power it deserves. One could just buy a 981 S and add a tune and some headers. That gets you the same HP (not sure about torque).

First 4 pot since the 912 Maybe in years to come will be lushed after.

@@93455Driver - not possible , well I suppose they could pump a 6 cyl sound through the stereo. The sound is a function of the exhaust gas timing. That's why this sounds like a Subaru.

Anyone who buys the old 981 GT4, 981 S, or even the 981 Cayman base model, over the 718, needs their head examining

Porsche gave us the power but took away 2 of the pots. Bad idea Porsche. And man made CO2 climate change is fake news so bring it back with the flat-6 please. Nice review thanks.

How did Audi manage to make their 2.5 litre engine sound so epic and Porsche made this sound like an asthmatic Golf GTI? They should have done a 5 pot, perhaps. I'm literally the target market for this and can finally afford one but won't be buying it, getting am M2 comp instead. Way to kill off a brand, Porsche!

A 5 pot boxer engine. Please tell us how are you planning to build that ? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ you may be in the market for an expensive car, but certainly don’t know a lot about Porsche or car engineering. But hey, we’re a year further now.. now you can order the new gts with 4.0 flat six. ;-)
