Porn VS Reality - with Male Pornstar Erik Everhard (Interview)

How do pornstars last so long? How fake is porn actually? What happens behind the scenes? Join male pornstar Erik Everhard and I in a fascinating discussion about all things porn vs reality.
Erik Everhard is a male porn star turned men’s coach, who has over 20 years of professional experience in the porn industry. He estimates that he has had sex with over 5000 women, which is absolutely mind-blowing to me.
Erik brings a super unique perspective to sex and life that we can all learn something from. How to last longer, how to overcome performance anxiety, and how to get an erection on command are just a few of the topics we go into in this interview.
This is my favorite episode of the Sex Upgraded Podcast so far. If you like it too, please share this with a friend! We all need to be talking about the impact of porn.

Yes, I was thinking that too. We're told as men that we're so STUPID AND IMMATURE. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Because male adult performers speak about sex with a very high level of maturity. The females just sound raunchy and adolescent. They usually sit in a circle speaking as if they're in the back locker room of a strip club. It's really surprising and a bit telling.

@@MisterSinister47 Well, is really has to do with either fucking or being fucked. When you have been fucked in the ass let us know how you really feel about it. MOST women HATE it but men seem to think it's ok and try so hard to make it happen. IT IS NOT OK. So when women speak of it like the locker room, it's because it's degrading and they have to speak about it or they will go insane.

I worked in the adult industry for a few years. I started as a bouncer at strip clubs then became a bartender and eventually started working with escorts. I fooled around with a lot of girls doing voyeur and did a few strip teases at some Bachelorette parties. The two things that surprised me the most was that: 1). Many of the girls and the customers were some of the most generous and kind and sincere people I have ever met. 2). The significant majority of the girls all had a history of some kind of sexual abuse as a young person. I wonder if this is the same in the porn industry.

I done a little bit of a porn myself going back over 10 years now from what I found in the UK most of the people men and women were not very nice! Very fake sorta people etc.. Was a very cut throat industry aswell!.. I escort now a bit still (when I get the work)! Ain't easy as a male that's for sure!.. but yes did find most women and to be fair men aswell in porn and escorting had a story to tell from there past! Not all sexual abuse but certainly a story to tell!... guess you could say sometimes these bad experiences can either shape ya to be a better or worser person! One plus side I see from abuse as there's always positives and negatives to everything in life ("ying/yang") and that's it does turn people usually more open minded and sexually expressive/liberated! etc...

It's funny, because that's where I stopped watching. Hope is for a future event, which no one can be certain of, while certainty comes from a completed task. Sure, you can fully believe in a specific outcome, but there is never absolute certainty.

  • @ratlungworm7035

    @ratlungworm7035

    4 ай бұрын

@@gerhardvaneeden5615 That is part of the reason this moment gave me pause and compelled me to reflect on it. Neither hope nor certainty need occupy the purely pragmatic realm. Yes, you can look at it from a purely pragmatic perspective, and you're not wrong. From a humanitarian perspective, hope is essential for human survival. Human psychology, however, is not all cold logic. Is anxiety a logical reaction to normal events? I suspect you are not a person who is prone to anxiety, but since I am, I will offer my point-of-view. I believe there are psychological tricks and tools you can use aimed at self-mastery of your body and mind that are effective at controlling anxiety. Here's an example: Say you want to go for a ride on your motorcycle. You may say to yourself, "I hope nothing bad will happen to me on the road." This "hoping" you'll be fine opens the door for an anxious frame of mind. It allows the accompanying doubt and fear to rule your senses. You may be tense and jerky on the controls, worried about looking foolish, or timid and indecisive in your maneuvering. An anxious frame of mind will interfere with your enjoyment in those ways. If you instead tell yourself, "I will be fine on the road," you're introducing a calming force into your mind. You can reinforce this with things like reminding yourself that you know how your vehicle operates and you are under control. You won't care how you look because that's not what is motivating you. Being cognizant of your surroundings, avoiding hazards, and applying your knowledge of motorcycle safety; all of these things will boost your confidence and enhance your experience. As a result, you are calm and relaxed at the controls, you maneuver easily and seamlessly through curves and road positions, and you identify potential hazards sooner. It is certainty, in a sense, because you're convincing yourself that you will be fine. Does that mean that some asshole won't come out of nowhere and clean you out? No, it doesn't. I'm not saying that one frame of mind is going to keep you safer than the other, though I'd argue that the latter frame of mind would actually reduce your risk of an accident. However, I will say that it is a certainty that the latter frame of mind will be the far more enjoyable experience. It's not about lying to yourself, it's about tricking your mind to calm the fuck down and actually enjoy life. Certainty is a frame of mind, and is not subject to the same semantic constraints that the word "fact' is.

It's good to hear from someone who was in porn that the porn you watch is a very condensed version of what happened during the making of that film/video. Yes competent and complete male sexual education is lacking in the US. It's good that he differentiates what he did for work and his personal life. Also that porn is entertainment firstly and is not really intended to be an educational platform. Glad that someone with that much insight has chosen to share and educate!

One of the things I remember watching way back in my early 20s was a documentary shot behind the scenes on an adult movie set - where, just like any movie set, they were setting up shots, etc. It made me realize it takes maybe a day to shoot those 10 minute videos that all look like they're in real time but they aren't - just like any movie. It also gave me a healthy perspective on how none of it is real, so consuming this content is really about buying into the fantasy, again pretty much the same as any other movie. It's all showbiz, at the end of the day.

The reality is, most people who go into this industry do so because they have few options. Most who try to get out also return because they are so stigmatized outside so that they cannot find work doing other things. The industry destroys most lives and porn has no positive impact on your mental health over time. Everyone knows this but by down playing it and remaining so calm as Erik does here, the optics look nice but the reality is very ugly. Most performers were abused before entering the industry and have absolutely no self worth. The industry takes what is left of their self esteem. This is not a judgement, just facts. I wish everyone in the industry nothing but blessings and that they somehow find a way out. I also hope that anyone who views porn realizes sooner than later that they are doing more harm than good not only to themselves but to others.

Very interesting podcast Erik Everhard is very articulate and deeply thoughtful and his analysis of sex and the act of intercourse is remarkable, he's using his experience of 23 yrs in the industry to now help men in the real world overcome some very serious potentially harmful disabilities in their sex lives and it seems like its mainly the mind and psychology that is the root cause and effect that he gets to the bottom of. A remark that struck a chord was the disconnection of emotion from the act. Humans are the only species on this planet who currently have a strong emotional reason to copulate. For the rest its just an act to reproduce! So what are we as humans heading towards if we learn to remove the emotional quotient from sex? Are we making it just an act? Are we no different from the other species who mate on this planet? Once a human learns to disconnect emotion, how will he/ he know she has to reconnect those wires so they can realize they have actually fallen in love?

You know sex with another person takes TWO people… right? Just saying. Blaming an ex for boring sex is the easy way out for most people. It’s another thing entirely to take personal responsibility for your half of the situation. @asofotida & @Philip - you’re both playing the victim card here a bit. I agree that long term relationships can get monotonous, but that is the responsibility of BOTH people. Took me a while to realize that any time I blamed my ex for my problems, what was happening was actually my own making - 97% of the time. That was a humbling pill to swallow.

He doesn’t extrapolate to how this can undermine their ability to pair-bond or be in a healthy relationship when they’re older, but it does have a profound impact on all that. And yet it’s just a -2? I don’t know…something that destroys relationships and messes with kids sexual development feels more negative than -2 to me. That’s not even to speak of the harm it does to actresses. I wonder if he knows how many of the 5000 women he’s had sex with for work have died of drug overdoses, suicide, or homocides (porn actresses have elevated risks of all of those).

IT's funny to me his response about fantasy and how it's different if you know the players. I am personally friends (one we just have hung out but they were great friends with my friends) with several UFC fighters from the early days. The fantasy component makes sense to me because when I watch them fight it is like what I've already seen every weekend so it's just my buddy having another fight. It feels really weird going to an event where everyone is going berserk and to me it's like I can't go nuts because I've seen it a million times in our personal lives and again, it's just another fight they're in. Same must be true with pornstars in that once that fantasy component is eliminated, it nor something you get excited about anymore.

This is rare I know, But my husband and I have been married for 20 years and we both don't engage in any pornography. As a woman I have never sought it out and my husband does not either. When you don't have all those visuals in your head from viewing pornography, It's amazing how easy it is to be satisfied on the most basic sex. We're both Christian. We both don't want to contribute to the p*** industry. We see men and women as valuable and not as objects. So we refuse to partake and I am beyond proud of that fact. My conscience is clear and that means more to me than anything. It's sad that sex has become more about how gross and twisted you can get than how you can make each other happy and fulfilled consensually without being degraded or having to degrade someone. Sex should be about a commitment and LOVE. P*** is leading to the biggest downfall in society and I'm just grateful I don't have to be a part of it.

This has happened many times. Corina Taylor accused him of raping her on set. He never addressed her rape accusation only until a year later. If you’re being accused of rape like the many other times women have accused you of abusing them on set, wouldn’t a normal person address the issue right away? But he waited a whole year because he’s allowed to treat the women the way he has and he’s used to getting away with it. Drinking moonshine, are we? :) First, I'd like to congratulate you and your guest on this fabulous interview. I would also like to say that I have never done porn, never even thought of doing porn, however, my occult practices demand a lot of sexual activity with various partners (especially at this time of year). The funny thing is that I was relaxing from our "main yearly event" (winter solstice, yule, and so on) when I came upon this podcast. There is one huge piece of advice I would like to give to every man, find a good female sex therapist and keep using her services for as long as possible. Not only will she teach you how to control your body but she will also teach you a lot about the female body. In case something does not work for a girl you will have a whole arsenal of other things until, eventually, a few will do the "trick". I have had sex therapists for about 15 years and it was the best investment I ever made. I have almost total control over my physical and emotional sexuality and, most importantly, I know how to quickly find out what works and doesn't work for my partner (in sex magic it is very important that both participants are projecting a lot of positive energy if you catch my drift, it is also important that both have huge orgasms at the same time). The driving force, in this case, me, but it could either be a male or female occultist, has to guide the process so that all the energy is released simultaneously, that is for the most part where the knowledge acquired from your sex therapist is of fundamental importance, not only are you controlling yourself, you are also able to read your partner's body and at what point it is to release. In that way, you can either hurry the process or slow it down. Both, as one, are looking for perfect harmony (remember, the leading party has years of training, but your partner does not, so it is up to the occultist, male or female, to do all the "driving"). So, to all men, I recommend getting a female sex therapist as soon as possible and don't mind "shopping" around until you find the right one. This step will improve all of your life, keep your libido, and also your sexual health (I have reached my 40s and am performing better than in my 20s), Cheers.

this is exactly why having too much bodycounts is a bad thing for both genders.., and this is exactly why a marriage between a man and woman as virgins last more and marriages of people with high bodycounts are more likely to end up in divorce....its just logical that a person is more likely to be satisfied with the one and only partner he or she had, bc having tasted all those different varieties only makes a person missed it when the relationship goes through some problems, and there is no relationship without its problem..
