Been looking at 3 camera systems. With this one, would it be possible to replace the middle camera (useless to me) with a camera you provide that could be mounted on the front bumper for spotting on the trail?

So, I've thought about that exact combo of cams you're looking for. Short version of my answer is I don't know for sure. Long version below... All three cameras plug into a little "junction box" using those tiny plugs that you find on most aftermarket "back-up" cams (at least any of the ones I've ever seen). If I remember correctly, two plugs were the same and the third was slightly different but I can't remember which is which. I've dissected wiring on an aftermarket back-up camera before (not by choice, cut a wire putting door sill trim back on) and the wires are microscopic, like I'm talking 3-strands of copper and it was a serious pain repairing that. But, that leads me to believe that if you cut the wiring and re-connect it to a different camera, there's no reason that shouldn't work unless the software in the mirror only recognizes a 720p camera for the "middle camera." Maybe if this video gains some sizeable viewership I'll have enough clout to approach Pormido and offer suggestions for improvement. It'd be great if they had a modular system that let's you choose which three cameras you want.

Fwiw, the front cam is weatherproof. I've had mine mounted externally for over a year and that includes Canadian winter

Thanks I was able to make this work as I hard wire the camera using the PORMIDO Hardwire Kit . Now the only thing I do not know is on the Hardware kit, if I should cut off the built in fuses and install a fuse tap . I am not sure how fuse taps work or how to configure the Prrmido Hardware kit with the fuse taps

I have that hardwire kit but never ended up installing it since the primary purpose of it is to continue to record while the vehicle is not running and I don't particularly care about that feature. And yeah, it's designed to shut off at different voltage settings but you'll have to play with it to find an ideal setting where you can still start your vehicle reliably. I don't remember where I put my kit but from the product photo it looks like the "fuse" ends on that kit are made so that the fuses are not replaceable. So, if you're using that kit, I would cut off the yellow and red wire ends and rewire both with inline fuse holders or rewire both to tap-a-fuses.

Depends on how big of an SD card you use. The included SD card does about 2 hours (all three cams) and then writes over older files. You can always lock specific files.

Can you set it to a 2up live view of the rear camera and the interior cam together? (Eg not the front cam). I’d like to see the rear and keep an eye on my kids in the back. Cheers!

Hey Roger....what do you think of the size of the mirror? I'm really interested in this, but our 3G T4Rs already have somewhat small windshields. Seems like it might take up a lot of visibility real estate. Thoughts?

Good observation man, it definitely is wider than the stock mirror. And, with my aftermarket seats/slider bracket, I sit abnormally high. Imagine setting the stock seats to the max height. Even with all that, the only thing the mirror really gets in the way of is traffic lights and no one else pay attention to those in San Jose anyways 🤣 jk. But, I think that if your mirror doesn't currently bother you, it should be okay. I had more to adjust to with obstructed vision doing the seats than the mirror itself. Hope that helps!

Great video and detail. I've been looking for a rear camera. I tow an off-road trailer and want to be able to see behind me. How hard do you think it would be to set up the wires so that I can hook up the camera when I'm towing? 🤙

The included wiring is really only long enough for like a large SUV so it depends where you want to mount the rear camera. If you're talking about mounting it to the trailer then you'd have to find some extension cable for it. I suppose you can splice and extend it yourself but they are extremely thin wires.

If I remember correctly (it's been almost two years) each camera only has one "cord" which contains the power, ground and video signal wires. Each cord is plugged into the mirror unit, one directly and the other two go into a splitter and then the splitter goes into the mirror. I can't remember which cameras used the splitter and which didn't. I would check that everything is plugged in tightly and then check if anything has pinched or severed the cord for your camera that isn't working.

Is it possible to have two exterior camera with this product?

That sounds like your vehicle's cigarette lighter adapter supplies constant power even if your key isn't in the ignition on position. You'd need someone to rewire your cigarette lighter adapter to only be on when the ignition is on.

I like the idea of a detached dashcam that you can mount on the windshield cause you can mouit it wherever you want my last one stopped working one day and i think its because the sun fried it.( for anyone wondering it was a Wolfbox G700 i bring it out because the OS looks just like it). So if you live in a place where the sun hits to hard and you car sits in the sun all day this might not suit you and you´ll be better off with a cam that can be protected from the sun. Any suggestions are welcome.

You could probably use one of those magnetic plates (like for cell phones) on the windshield or where ever and a small neodymium magnet on the camera so that you can tuck it somewhere out of the sun when you're parking.

Why do they state (on Amazon) that the front camera is 1296p? I am debating between this one and the PRUVEEO triple dash cam (with mirror), but if they really are all 3 1080p, then I would just go with the PRUVEEO for $125 which also has all 3 1080p cameras. Edit: On sale for $125 with a $40 coupon clip, there is also a 128gb version for $140 after coupon clip

The one you mention looks like a good deal. I can't think of a reason not to try that one. Not sure what Pormido refers to when they state 1296p, all I know is the recorded files are 1080 front/rear and 720 middle. Looks like that Pruveeo one doesn't have the option to view all three cameras at once (don't know if that's important to you) but it has blind spot monitoring which is neat. The Pruveeo one has a rear camera "style/housing" that has failed me twice in the past, both times from water ingress even though they're supposed to be waterproof. Time will tell on the rear camera of this Pormido kit. I appreciate you sharing a different option!

False advertising on their part if your file shows the inside camera is only 720p (although I would maybe double check if your settings are set to the highest quality, perhaps there is an option for 1080p for your inside camera. Since my original comment, when filtering for suspicious reviews on the website ReviewMeta (I would highly recommend the site, gives you a more accurate review than Amazon shows, all you do is paste an Amazon link into the bar), the PORMIDO kept the 4.4/5 stars from Amazon, and the PRUVEEO received a 3.7 (down from 4.1)/5. Just going to go with the Pormido. ReviewMeta is using actual written reviews for the new score of 3.7 on the PRUVEEO, and just the standard "ratings" for the 4.4. Not sure why it is not using the written reviews for the Pormido score, the website usually works like that I believe. Anyway, going with the Pormido, has higher reviews on Amazon too.

7:11 really shows how bad the gps speed detection is. Probably better off turning that off for your protection. I was hoping to see what the mirror looks like when there is a car behind you at night. Does it become useless? Or how bad it gets in the winter with salt and dirt spray on the roads.

GPS speedometers always have lag and as you pointed out it's very evident when accelerating and decelerating. But, I'd rather have that feature on in the event I'm ever in a collision while cruising at a relatively constant speed, particularly if I am not at fault. At night, the image varies based on lighting as you can imagine. In the worst case, it looks like your normal mirror, that is to say, you see headlights and darkness. In the city, with road lighting and whatnot, I can still see lane markers on the freeway and most objects on the street. I don't live in an area that snows so I don't have much insight on your last question but it is an externally mounted camera so it's a good idea to wipe the lens clean once in a while.

If it came with a mount to replace the factory mirror rather than strap on, I'd be interested. Strap on looks tacky

This, also all those wires and plugs on top is too much. Wish they had the insert holes in the back or lower down so there is not 5 wires coming out from the top.

For sure, but with so many different mirror mounting methods on different vehicles I get why they went with the strap thingies. You'd have to just DIY something custom I suppose. It bothered me at first too but the effort it would take to DIY mount it that way isn't worth the time IMO.

Can't disagree with that. One proprietary plug would've been slick but then you'd have a some kind of separate splitter thingy to connect all the wires somewhere else. It ain't for everyone.

@@ggg4runner the Vantop M3 triple came mirroring has what you described - a single cable from the mirror going to a small junction box which connects to all the other wires. I guess you might be able to hide or reposition the junction box for a neater install.

Can you direct me to a large screen dashcam to help an old person at night driving in high contrasted environnement (big city) to discrimnate at least the people walking across without warning a street in near complète darkness 🥲 ? Even me at 30mph, it's quite sometimes the surprise It's an old car (from 2016) but it has android auto, a rear camera who is decent but only acrivate in reverse (...) I really don't know were to look and even what key words i should try Your screen really looks great but my gran pa is never gonna want to have something like that.
