GGG4Runner

Destinations don't matter, the journey matters.

This is overlanding for the everyday person where you're only limited to the terrain in which you adventure based on the capabilities of your vehicle. You don't need a crazy expensive rig to "overland." If Roger can overland, so can you!

I am from germany and I might not understand the retarded weapon rules of the US but for me, if you are carrying a firearm, you make yourself the thread. If you can't handle the situation otherwise when you are in the wilderness then don't go there. Good Video though and no offense.

Very well explained for a guy like me that knows nothing about this sort of stuff and would like to purchase something to help me find places for dual sporting motorcycles. Thanks.

Good review Roger! Just picked up it's little brother, the AC180, during Amazon Prime Deal Days for $549! Couldn't resist. It is replacing a wonky Grecell T1000 unit which has similar capacity (999 WH) and is smaller and lighter. But, the Bluetti seems to have a more robust build quality and design over the Grecell.

I just ordered mine, should be here Tuesday. Curious, what solar panel are you using to charge it and is it safe to use a 24v panel?

  • @ggg4runner

As long as you stay within the solar input specs you're fine. from their website: "Solar Input: 500W Max., VOC 12-60VDC, 10A"

Great breakdown video it helped a lot to see what each app does best. I have been using Gaia for years but most of our friends like Onx so I was wondering what the differences were and your video showed that very well. After seeing what they both do well, I feel like I want both because sometimes we just do technical trails and sometimes we like to explore for days and hike & camp. It is so difficult to choose just one.

GMRS is a better radio standard, which is fine if you're just looking to communicate with the other people in your 4x4 convoy, but truckers are all still using CB and the primary purpose of using a radio in my neck of the woods is to call out your location at regular intervals and listen for logging trucks doing the same for legitimate safety necessity. being able to BS with one another is a distant second objective. I can't wait for the truckers to all switch to GMRS so we can finally ditch CB.

Yeah blasting edm music. 🙄 How can you rag on google maps for not having detailed off-road trails, when it’s not made for that. The talking highly of off-road apps, which obviously are made for that 🤦🏻‍♂️. Your do’s & dont’s make you sound like a willful slave.

Rule #01 You can never pack enough water and I'd like to add buy a PLB and register immediately. Emergency signal is picked up by at least 36 participating countries and within about a minute. Kind of like 4WD, you may never use it, but when you need it....heck ya!!!

Good information but I'm looking more for hiking and Gaia vs Onx Backcountry. It does seam like Onx has more trail information than Gaia. There are pros and cons on both sides apparently, not an easy decision.

Good information. More companies do need to add a port for outputting 12V 15-50 amp. The Goal Zero 1500X also has a 30 port but via Anderson PowerPole. So if you need something physically smaller and or lighter weight, the 1500X works.

I'm a really old fart and have been through so many camping chairs. I really haven't found the perfect camping chair yet but I do have something that isn't really a chair but is really comfortable. The downside is that it's heavy. It's a take apart hammock with a steel frame built for two. When only one person uses it, it's like a cocoon. I swear I sleep better in it than any sleeping mattress!

Bigger? That's a deal breaker for me already. I carry two Viair units. I don't want to be stuck out there with no air available nearby. FYI: Lowe's has a small tire inflator that's a combo 12vdc or 120vac that has that automatic pressure cut off. I don't know what the price is now, but I bought two of them many years ago for $25 a piece.

I have the smaller EB3A which is perfect for my purposes. It is really small which is a plus. I want to buy a second unit for a back up but being cheap, I don't want to pay full retail so checked on their "refurbished" units which are really cheap. Let me say again, I really like my EB3A. I asked what they mean by "refurbished". I have yet to get a straight answer so that turns me off. JMHO.

About a month ago I went camping at a new to me location and I thought I had the whole canyon to myself. Then I saw sign for shooters to pickup their shell casings. I paid for a camp site a few miles away. If the finger didn't heal, that would've made a great Yakuza story!
