Original Jurassic Park - when I saw the movie as a young teen, I was completely oblivious to most of the spin off "stuff" - except that that movie was my first encounter with a John Williams score, I fell in love with his work in the first minutes of the movie, and IMMEDIATELY went out and bought a piano score for the main theme. Decades later, I know Williams scores better than the movies they're attached to

I know it’s a little stoic, but at 3:44 I write: 1. Cannot buy back time 2. Cannot buy true friendship 3. Cannot buy integers

The first things that came to mind that you cant buy was a country, but not entirely sure thats true... Also the first billboards were for circuses which seems to fit your ideas here

Top stuff as always - video game industry would be a fascinating follow up/tie-in to this !

true, and so would lots of things. In the guitar world there are "gear heads" - guys who have 15 guitars, all with slight differences. They buy more and more because of a "tone" they need but some how can only get with this particular guitar. Also other "gear" such as pedals and amps. And once again what's needed is practice and ideas, something money can't buy.

A lot of fast food, and other companies with little to offer, is an endless stream of novelty products that people purchase. Like the grimace shake.

There is another model of marketing. KZread (= Google) keeps annoying my videos watching through unbelievably stupid adverts (and really upsetting) and occasionally pops up something like "if you pay this monthly fee, you will get rid of this shit". However, this would help me only to some extent, because some relatively good KZreadrs, who make a living on their channel, must provide the adverts as an integral part of their video (the idea is "the product is as good as the video" and the KZreadr has to swallow this compromise, while blushing, in order to make living).

From Edward Bernays, considered the father of modern marketing: “The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country." "We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society." "In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons (...) who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind." (fr. Propaganda, 1928) 🤨

Depending on your product, of course, but older generations are usually more valuable as a target advertising group. They are harder to reach, have much more money, and are way more gullible. For example, the average age of a person that buys a new car is around 59 or so. The AVERAGE. The most expensive place to advertise in Germany is the "Apotheken Umschau", which is a free print magazine lying around in pharmacies. Go figure who reads that shit.

Whatsoever one experiences or wants to experience, all are neurological feelings and emotions. We can have everything placed in our neurons as actual entities. Everything we can have, can be bought.
