Pophers Creek, according to the Texas State Historical Society, was named after an Indian Chief who choose to be executed in place of his son who was convicted of murder by white settlers.
Today we continue our aerial survey of Sam Rayburn Reservoir with the lake 5.75 feet low. In addition to reviewing Pophers Creek we are going to review the major boat launches all over Rayburn for those visiting from out of town.

You may purchase fuel at Powel Park Marina. They have it by the store and down on the dock.
It would be very nice if there was a map detailing the local area names of Sam Rayburn. None of current maps show stuff like Black Forest, Farmers, Needmore, Buck Bay, Five Fingers, Deer Stand, Canyons, Veach. Caney etc. The borders of these places are very esoteric. I have lived on Lake Sam Rayburn for 40+ years, and I’m still unsure!
What kind of drone do you use? It shoots amazing footage.
I was in the back of pophers in late january and there was a giant alligator that was dead and the buzzards had picked it over pretty good.
So at normal pool, you should be able to run all the way back there without any problems?
