I'm confused. Why are so many in the comment section calling this Satanism or a great falling away? The Pope is greeting people cheerfully and showing love. He is not ripping pages out of the bible or telling people to sin. If the issue is the flag, it is an Italian peace flag. That is the thing about symbols: they mean so many different things to so many people. A rainbow peace flag is not an alphabet flag.

@@coptic89 I disagree for several reasons. First, the Italian peace flag predates the other one. Why should they give up their flag just because of another one? The second reason is because the distortion of a thing should not, in most cases, lead to the ban of the actual thing. The rainbow is a symbol of God's peaceful covenant with Noah and his descendants. To allow others to monopolize that symbol for different purposes is unthinkable. In fact, if everyone started making different flags with the rainbow symbol it would make the distorted one entirely meaningless. The real issue here is not that the flag was used, but that the media needs to properly explain the purpose of whatever is going on - especially Catholic media, instead of just Pope bashing.

For anyone wondering, in Italy the rainbow flag with the word "PACE" (peace) written over it is a pacifist flag. It has been in use since the '60s, way before the rainbow was adopted as a symbol by movements in favour of homosexuality.
