During my 3 visits over the years, there's no long lines to see either the Pieta or touching the foot. I guess the basilica are open long hours. The most stunning thing was that Michelle Angelo finished the Pieta when he was 24! I always admire Angello more than da Vinci's because of the numbers of incredible art he produced in his life time!

I remember as a child going to the Vatican Pavilion at the New York World's Fair in 1964 and seeing the "Pieta" which was on loan. You stood on a moving sidewalk which glided you into a dark room and there behind a plastic wall to protect it and with a soft spotlight on it was the statue. Somewhere in my attic I have the 16mm film that my mother took as we went passed.

What Norah touched isn't St. Peter's tomb itself, but the top of a grave marker from the 2nd century built directly above the tomb. The lower level of St. Peter's is the original level from when Constantine built the first structure. It's speculated that Peter's bones were moved from their original resting place during the construction of Old St. Peter's and placed nearby for safekeeping.

Jesus says: "Even if some dishonest man, for an impure end, made bones appear as Peter's bones, or covertly, according to your indications on the subsequent depositions of Peter, discovered the catacomb niche of Peter, took the remains there and brought them to St. Peter's saying that they were there, to oppress My spokesman (Valtorta) and deceive My Vicar and the whole world, I-Truth here say that this action would be deception that God condemns. Peter is where you know. Every other remnant is not Peter's." [Attached were the clippings of two short newspaper articles on the discovery of St. Peter's tomb] St. Peter: "I speak to tell you this. The world is increasingly corrupt .... Much of the Church is also decadent, having, if not forgotten, neglected what the Divine Master and Founder of the Church, of whom He elected me His first Pontiff, had taught His successors .... Everything is too guilty for the relic of relics, the second only to those that belong to Jesus and Mary, the greater than that of all the saints, to be exposed, yes, to the veneration of true Christians, but also to the danger of profanation and dispersion on the part of anti-Christians. If the world does not change .... the hour will never arise when the remains of the "Stone on which Christ built His Church" will be drawn, from the darkness where they are, in the light of worship, from neglect, because I am hidden, to the adoration of the faithful. The discovery of my true body, its translation to the Basilica dedicated to me, the true heart of Christianity, to be erected on the place where I heroically confessed my faithful love for Christ, Mother Church of all Catholic Churches, would truly be an overflowing gift of grace. But to have it, it is necessary to give true heroic love to Jesus and Mary, to the whole Church.” Peter, being, indeed appearing as a glorified body, is much more beautiful than he was, but also much sadder than he was alive.

Millions of people care!! The glitter has been passed down from centuries of artistry and true devotion past and present. Recognize that only a few out of millions caused the corruptions and God will judge those who have caused harm to the many. Put your bitterness away and realize that this fancy stuff (as you call it) are symbols of love and devotion that many artists have left us in St. Peters Basilica. I pray for you because a lot of people care!! you are the one who should read the Bible. You must be more compassionate for the church that Jesus and the Apostles through the Holy Spirit has left for us all.
