Tough love is more effective than "Oh, don't worry it's gonna be okay, it gets better". No. It doesn't magically get better by itself. You try to make the best of what you have, whatever situation you're in, and if you're lucky like Angel Dust, you're not alone. It's okay not to be okay. You can "not be okay" with others. We're all losers. Nobody is flawless.

Valentino is a monster, but dammit his character design is top-notch. I love that his wings additionally function as his pimp coat AND a freaking cape!!

Vox and Velvette also treat other sinners as though they’re replaceable, Val being the abuser of one of the main characters doesn’t make him worse, they’re all terrible, we’ve just happened to have seen the aftermath of his actions.

This aspect demonstrates a real understanding of how abusers manipulate the perception of their victims. Valentino has real power, yes. But he's made Angel see him as much more than he really is. Charlie, for example, is canonically FAR more powerful than Valentino. She could destroy him if she chose to invoke her powers. While Angel hasn't seen her power he knows who she is, Lucifer's own child and far above Valentino. We the audience also get to see Valentino not wishing to directly confront her! He grits his teeth and puts up with her. He threatens Angel to make Angel talk her into leaving. Val knows he cannot actually hurt Charlie! But Angel legitimately believes Valentino is all-powerful, against basic reason and the evidence of his own eyes.

The "not off camera you're not" line was a good one, claps to Valentino for that one, hard to find a villain that legit makes you hate them but still have that kind of moments

Angel Dust thinks he's protecting Charlie, because that's what Valentino wants him to think. Charlie could and was absolutely about to wreck him into next tuesday. It's a classic among abusers, they want you to think NO ONE can help you.

When they are bound with ropes , Angel's rope is chaotic and Husk's is neatly wrapped. Maybe pointing to the nature of their respective "owners". Valentino being an emotional in-the-moment type & Alastor being neat/calculating.

I translated that as Alastor having a tighter grip on Husk while Valentino has a looser grip on Angel. Which is furthered when Angel’s ropes are the first to drop while Husk’s comes after. Maybe that means Angel has a better chance of getting away from Val

The nature of Husk and Alastor's relationship seems to be a lot more strict whereas a basic contract, essentially an employee agreement from what little we KNOW, seems to be what Val has Angel under. Angel "sold his soul..." in a metaphoric sense, whereas based on Husk's info he seems to have quite literally gambled his soul away to Alastor (who deals in souls in a much more literal sense). Valentino "owns" Angel Dust, but all it takes is Charlie to assert authority and remind Valentino SHE owns HIM as the princess of hell. Boom, he loses. And while he deserves death, there are fates worse than that, and it would do nothing less than torture and infuriate him knowing he lost his control over anyone let alone his biggest cash grab in Angel (far as we know).

-Angel was still so gentle with Charlie even when getting her to leave. He didnt push her away, but gently holding her. -Does Val even have angelic weapons? - you can see Angel noticing his drink was spiked - sinners cant die no matter how bad things get. Thats the real hell -Poisen was what happened that night. How many all nighters does he do? - slowing down Poison and seeing the fast pace scenes is heartbreaking

If you count his pimped up guns from Episode 2, it could be heavily customized to conceal the Anti-Angelic patterns

Quick reminder: Canonically Angeldust is 8ft and Alastor is 7ft, the sinners are much bigger and taller than they may seem to us in the Show. Zestial for example is 11.4 feet tall, so Valentino, even if there is no official height for him, probably stands over 12 feet tall. Imagine how terrifying it would be to have him in front of you, even without all his powers, which we barely know at all. Although of course I don't think this will stop Morgan, who will just go looking for a ladder to punch him better.

Idk where you got those calculations- We don’t have an official hight chart but I be-live at least according to the pilot era material- Angel is about 7 ft without boots, Alastor is 6 ft, something (charlie was about 6 ft in the pilot as well) - and I think an artist who worked on the moments said val was around 10ft? Again, the Wiki is not 100% accurate, but the height stamps did have sources.

The contract itself actually implies what Angel himself said. " I can only blame myself. " Angel signed the contract, he put himself in that situation and he cannot really blame the monster for being a monster. Which is probably why it hits so hard, because it's true, and it implies that Angel can't even forgive himself for it neither.

Top 2 most effective ways to kill Valentino. 1. Remind Nifty that he's a bug, and ask her what Nifty does to bugs. 2. Hand Morgan an Angel weapon, let her magically enter the series, and let nature take its course.

IKR and he’s apparently up till this he’s never had any roles before. The question is HOW???? (I’m convinced the answer is this is the first time he’s auditioning for something. He looks like he’s 20-something, it MUST be his first because there’s no way he could’ve been auditioning for roles this whole time and getting turned down for ALL of them. He’s too good lol)

This episode really affected me with Angels story. I was SOBBING. The way he said he is doing it so he can completely fuck himself up and break himself so he won't be Vals favourite anymore. Goddamn. Also, Poison is a straight bop, but boy is it HEAVY. Husk and Angel Dust are so cute together. I am definitely onboard with their ship. I really want Charlie to fully fuck up Val. We keep seeing hints at her demon form, and I think had Angel not gotten involved, she would've gone full rage mode on Val.

I'm my opinion this episode was way better than it had any right to be, comforted me in a way that most shows are too scared to show. Husk is DEFINITELY solidified as a top three favorite character, despite being able to swear like a sailor and a bit of a grouch, Husk certainly knows how to be classy. Whether or not they go for friends or lovers with them in the series, I'm just glad Angel found someone that can understand him and be there for him. Charlie's first attempt at intervening in Angel's situation may have been disastrous, but I'm hoping Angel's genuine allies will all come together and destroy the operation. I feel like Angel is the main character and everyone else is support. I'm hoping Charlie does go full demon on Val and squish him like the insect he is.

Morgan's gonna need a new punching bag after this one. Angel Dust deserves so much better than this. The way Valentino treats him and what Angel said about trying to get broken enough that Val will let him go, it's really painful to watch. I'm glad he and Husk have found common ground and can support eachother. And I love the message in "Loser, Baby." It's not your usual, "cheer up, things will get better" song. It's more realistic. Yeah, Angel's life is screwed up, but he's not alone. He now has someone who understands that he can look to for support. That's as good a start as any.

So this episode had me like you. Just bawling I couldn’t even function. My name is Angel. I used to be a sex worker. And addicted to drugs. My life nearly mirrored angels. I wanted to die and my abuser caused me to try it. My addiction nearly killed me in the hospital. It was so painful. I have been sober for six years now. It was not an easy journey. I dug my own grave and loathed myself for it. I looked in the mirror to see I was the problem. But I remembered tonight that pain I had shut out for so many years. The assault and unwanted advances. The eternal sadness I drowned in. The drugs. Being drugged. Taken from myself. The pain. The repetitive melting days never sure what day of the week it was. Dancing all night. I had to look in the mirror. I had to crawl out of the darkest hole I’ve ever been in for years. I felt used up. Disgusting. And the only thing that masked it were the drugs, praying I’d be loved enough some day or have the courage to really leave. It has been a long time since I’ve even allowed myself to remember my past. The person I was and the people that slowly tried to kill me. The back and forth of the abuser much like Valentino. Being drugged in drinks. Dancing night after night. … This episode ripped my heart in half. The irony of this. The flashbacks. It was just too much. Almost. This episode took me back to a place I tried desperately to escape. And while I’m successful thank GOD- This was so incredibly triggering. And beautiful and heartbreaking. But this episode is NEEDED. To show those who also hurt they are not alone. You can get better. Stop hating yourself. The writing and connection I have in the plot and characters is insane. I love Angeldust in an entirely new light now. He better escape his hell. Or I will find viv and make her rewrite the plot I stg. This episode was fucking ART. And hard on my soul. I have never cried so hard watching anything in my life. Beautiful work.

The relationship between Angel Dust and Valentino has parallels and contrasts with Fizzarolli and Mammon. While Fizz was running himself ragged trying to be perfect for Mammon because he thought Ozzy wouldn't want him anymore, Angel is deliberately breaking himself hoping Val will let him go.

The punching bag at the end was very welcome

I think they knew this episode was gonna break people's hearts, so they gave Keith (one of the *GREATEST* voices humanity was lucky enough to recieve) a song to make everyone feel better and smile.

While the leader of the V’s almost filled us with despair, Dr. Facilier’s reincarnation held his hand out to Angel and fans of the show. He sang that song, thus filling us all with hope.

This episode was so sad. Can’t believe this is the same one where we’ll hear the song, “Poison”. I wish Charlie got to unleash her demonic side, she’s the Princess of Hell and anyone like that bastard Valentino is abusive to one of her friends, she needs to let out all that rage and power. She’s literally the third strongest being in Hell. As for Angel, what’s happening to him, well he freaking doesn’t deserve any of this. At least Husk is being there for him, also can’t believe we got to hear a very healthy and fun song with Keith David. He truly has *Friends on the OTHER side.*

i discovered this show because of angel. seeing him i was like okay there's your new comfort character. he's what got me to watch this show, and how i fell in love with it. he's my baby. and seeing you so passionate about him to is filling my heart. he's just such a special character and deserves so much goodness! i know this was a hard reaction to do but thank you for sharing it with you. sending you a comforting heart your way ❤. i know it's not much but yeah.

Did you know val has some sort of toxins in his saliva and so when he smokes like he did into angels face, it made him dizzy. Velvette also uses val's saliva in her potion.

Kinda wish you left in the part where Charlie goes "FUCK NO!" at Valentino's creepy advances

The last line of "Poison" punched me in the soul on a level I cannot describe. The way you reacted physically mirrored my own first time watching. I had held pretty strong through the whole episode but that line broke the dam and I just wept for the rest of it.

Bad news: this episode breaks you Good news: if you play the "drink water every time Morgan cries" game with this video, you will be sufficiently hydrated. Also, the end bit of them punching the bag and breaking a bug zapper *almost* makes up for the emotional damage!

This is the second most popular video from Morgan as of may 4th 2024. I guess the fandom really likes to see them cry 😭

Viv needs to pay for my therapy bill too, I hear ya. I had to draw some Charlie and Vaggie doodles to chill myself out after this emotional roller coaster.

A fun little reference near the end of the episode: when Angel and Husk are talking shit about Valentino, Angel talks about Val spending 30 minutes to count a few bills. That was a reference to the Addict MV where Val was drawn counting only three dollar bills while sitting in the limo.

Great Angel now has Husk to lean on. He REALLLLYYYY needs that. And its so nice to see how much Angel cares for Charile and wants to keep her safe.

When I first saw this episode I wasn't prepared....But I don't think anyone was :'( I love that Husk gave Angel what he needed, but Angel gave Husk what he needed. Someone to relate to

I really hate that smile on Valentino's face when Charlie was going to throw hands at him. He knew Angel would intervene so he had nothing to worry about. I hope the next time someone stronger than him gets pissed they actually fuck him up so badly that he's going to double hell >:(

Anyone notice that when Angel was distressed his voice changed into his real voice. Anthony's voice.

He always speaks in his real voice. That was just him speaking lower because as you said, he was distressed. People’s voice naturally gets lower and quieter when we are scared or feel defeated lol. Angel *is* Anthony, same person, 2 sides of the same coin, all that.

I mean, like, it's HELL. He didn't exactly get there cause he tripped on the stairway to heaven. Valentino is kinda his punishment. And I'm not saying he deserves it forever. I hope he does earn redemption, cause whether or not he earned his place in Hell, we've clearly seen he isn't irredeemable or inherently evil. Saying he brought Valentino upon himself though is a statement I can't agree with. He had no clue wtf he was signing up for there, and how was he ever supposed to know? I mean, you could argue that it's Hell and nobody should be trusted, but I digress. He's clearly a skilled manipulator. That's victim blaming and yeah, even sinners can be victims. TL;DR should Angel Dust blame himself? No. He earned his place in hell, but it isn't like he's an irredeemable monster like Valentino.

the reason Angel blames himself is because he sees it as his fault he sold his soul to Val, which fair enough, but... how Val treats him is unforgiveable. He is responsible for his choice, but he is absolutely not responsible for Val's abuse.

Watching you beat Valentino is so therapeutic. Its what he deserves and watching is the therapy we need

Morgan, that was a great reaction. You made me fear you'd be completely zoned out for half of it, but it was perfectly fine. It's okay to be overwhelmed and lose words sometimes, it was a brutal episode indeed. Please don't think too low of yourself.

This episode had (what I feel like) is a good representation of people who are SA victims. I am one myself and I’m doing well in the recovery from that trauma. It shows how victims of SA can be scared/horrified to speak up in fear of getting hurt again. Ye ethics takes it to a very extreme degree, and I pray no one has had it this bad. It does also show how messed up that can leave someone. Showing how they act all fine or even flirty to others as a coping mechanism was really comforting. I personally feel like it did a good job at showing the reality of this kind of situation.

That Morgan Terry version of the Hazbin intro is really nice, honestly. I hope you're doing better now. Great episode and I love it from a storytelling view, and the songs are some of the best yet, but super heavy, and I hope you've been taking care of yourself since you watched it.

Husk being an Overlord shows power, and brute force isn't the only way to get to the top. Knowing him, he won and cheated to get as many souls as possible until he had enough to become an overlord, most likely the overlord of gambling. He probably stayed that way until Alastor started his hunt for Overlords, idk if the timeliness would match up, but we'll see. I imagine Alastor killed most overlords but decided Husk and his skill would be more beneficial because my theory is that when someone owns your soul, they gain some if not all your powers and skill to use in both having you at their service but also being able to manifest it, so Alastor can use Husk's sly tongue and skills of trickery to strike up more deals for more souls

Husk died after Alastor, so he wasn't one of the Overlords Alastor defeated when he ended up in Hell. So I think when Husk arrived he just let him be until he saw Husk was desperate and approached him to make a deal (kind of like he tries to make a deal with Charlie at the beginning, and then with Vaggie).

In a long time I have never met a villain like Valentino where I’ve been this disgusted as well as terrified. Props to the VA’s in this. I pray to God that Charlie smites him down to triple hell. Also I can imagine how Lucifer will react to how Val licked his daughter. This episode was an absolute rollercoaster with how dark they went with the Val/Angel stuff and then ending on that absolutely amazing song with Husk and Angel.

I'd honestly forgotten what an amazing singing voice Keith David had before this episode.

Husk is just such a good Charakter. He is really wise and strong he i just awsome! ❤ HUSKERDUST 4 EVER😼🕷

The thing is Angel could have said a lot worse to Charlie but he didn’t because he knows she means well

I love this episode due to how it explained angels character and then the second half of it, going into depth more..h but man everytime i rewatch it I either almost cry or cry😭 and i already know youre going beat tf outta Valentino, as you should

I have no doubt this episode made you hate Val more then ever, which is really saying a lot😰 But at least Angel and Husk are finally getting along now❤️‍🩹 And I do hope that soon Charlie squishes that overgrown moth❤️‍🔥

I definitely agree with what you said about Charlie not always being there be able to protect him. I actually discussed that alot with my friend who also loves Angel. Charlie is a sweetheart but her actions can have major consequences for others and could possibly get Vaggie hurt if she's not careful who she deals with.

I was able to watch the other two's reactions, saw them tear up, but gosh damn, Morgan, you had me tearing up something fierce. I am a SA victim from childhood and the fact some people just brush it off as no big deal, and they expect you to be over it and I'm expected to forgive my abuser, because i'm only hurting myself. The worst of it was it was my brother and my mother is pushing for me to have a relationship with him, to forgive him. IT is fucking hard, because there are some people will brush it off and expect you to be over it and it's not that bad. I didn't go through what Angel did, but I think it hurts more that the person I'm supposed to depend on is keeping my abuser in her life and wants me to let him back in, while I was mentally and emotionally abused by another sibling and she never kicked him out like she promised. It is hard, and I guess that's why I like Angel so much. This makes me wish I had a Husker.

Yes, Mothers are often like that and sadly they don't change views. But, know that you have the Right to say NO to her. It's not her place to grant forgiveness on your name. And you have the right to cut a toxic family relationship even if it's your brother

I was eating while watching and the Valentino punching bag came into frame and I started choking lmfao, thank you for the comedic relief during such a sad and devestating episode

Those who weren't on board with the new Angel voice are quiet after this episode. Especially they way his voice cracked when he kicked Charlie off the set. You can just feel the pain in his tone.

Idk why but that’s the saddest part out of the whole series to me “if I end up broken enough in the process I won’t be his favourite toy anymore”

Agreed. It's one thing for someone to outright sh or attempt more drastic things. But to self sabotage or self destruct, just overindulging in things and being unnecessarily risky, specifically because you feel that, ending up severely injured or disfigured or even dead is the only way out of someone's hold is heartbreaking. It's just Angel going 'so be it' or 'fuck it we ball', etc, where he's "having fun" and if something happens, oh well. If he doesn't make it out alive...oh well...

I know there’s a lot of hate going around about this episode… but as someone who has been in manipulative and abusive relationships not too disimilar from this, it was refreshing to see a show not shy away from the subject matter especially for a male presenting character to be the victim.
