I've always wondered exactly how intelligent Vox is. When Alastor first got to hell, he destroyed the status quo by targeting the older overlords and creating a power vacuum. Why the hell would you tell Alastor there's a new status quo then spend several minutes doing a very catchy tune about how insignificant he is?

A couple of things I'd also like to also add 1: surprisingly "thats the tea" isn't actually a new saying. It apparently has been said since at least the 1920s, which is around when alastor lived and died i believe if i remember correctly so in a way you could even say hes showing the old has just as much of a place as the new. 2: in both of alastor's duets, hell's greatest dad and stayed gone he's done something other demons don't, think carmilla and velvet, adam and charlie, lute and adam vs charlie, etc both respective parties had entirely different styles while singing. Alastor meanwhile just jumps right into their song, matching their style. He's trying to beat them at their own game musically after being disrespected, basically saying. "I can do everything you can do just as well if not better." Which imo definitely helped show off his confidence and strength. He doesn't need to change things up to steal the show from you, he'll just do what you do better. Which imo is especially evident in hell's greatest dad where he goes blow for blow with Lucifer.

If you consider the pilot as well; Alastor starts a song with Charlie that's very old-timey show tune, very vaudeville, which unites his style with her love of theatricality which also shows he's very good at reading people, figuring out what they like and what they need, and adapting to form bonds (or make deals!) with them when he chooses to. He's just such a formidably smart and charismatic character.

Actually if you look closely when the city goes into blackout you'll see the hotel's lights in the windows disappear as well, but then when it's starts to close up on the hotel the lights are red and remind me of Alastor or the color of emergency lights... It could be Alastor's power, but considering the hotel used to belong to the royal family before Charlie took over they might already have a secondary power source for cases like this... But yes, Radio has a huge advantage over TV in this case because usually radios could work on both batteries and electricity and there are even radios that can work with the radio-waves themselves as their power source, allowing Alastor to keep broadcasting even in a total blackout.

Alastor played it perfectly. He didn’t announce his return to Hell. He let Vox do that for him. And Vox fumbled hard. He should’ve said nothing about Alastor returning, but by bringing attention to it, in an effort to get ahead of Alastor and discredit him, he gave Alastor an easy platform to rebuttal. Vox starts with calling him a hasbeen, trying to portray him as a nobody that no one cares about, except he’s notable enough that Vox himself came out of nowhere to bring Alastor’s name up to everyone. In addition, Alastor perfectly rebuttals him by spilling the tea about Vox trying to recruit him before. Now someone might look at Vox and think “well if Alastor is a nobody, why did you try to recruit him?”

  • @jesternario

The most interesting thing to note is the tone that Vox uses. When he's on his own, he is so confident, calm, and collected. Once he starts broadcasting, he's flighty and going all over the place. You can see he's practically trying to self delude himself as he tries to convince his viewers to ignore the Radio Demon, and that insecurity is what Alistor uses against him.

To be a dad to Charlie by showing him someone else was ready to step into the role. Although, I don't think Alastor actually had any intent to play that part and I don't think this was done for any altruistic purposes. My theory is that his contract is with Lilith and SHE sent him there to help Charlie. Alastor is a genuine psychopath and doesn't do anything without some personal gain coming from it. I *DO* think he is starting to genuinely like the Hotel crew, but that doesn't mean he won't sell them out. Because yes clearly Vox and the Vees are opportunists and really represent what you mentioned: jumping on every trend and everything that makes views to remain on top. Vox made a mistake by provoking Alastor, especially while being so personally affected by it. It was way too easy for Alastor to humiliate him and rile him up... I actually think that Alastor doesn't have anything to do with the blackout at the end, at least not with his powers. 3:41 A part of me wishes we had Alastor on air before Vox started his song. If we saw Alastor doing nothing and waiting for Vox to push his content by attacking it there by bringing attention to it. I think it would have been a powerful message about their power and relationship, like is Alastor made stronger by Vox's hatred and need to make that hatred public and in the public eye.

  • @SnowyWolborg
    @SnowyWolborgАй бұрын

It makes sense why Vox would have wanted Alastor to join him because he recognizes when something is going to be worth adding to his technological empire. Which is undoubtedly why he and Velvette get along, as she represents social media, which indeed did become the next big thing after television. Vox represents soft power that focuses on influence, while Alastor represents hard power that prefers physical dominance.

@@RoarTheRapper simple, there is none. As technology advances the rate of change (especially for social/communication methods) increases. Fun thing about the "his medium is getting blody rare" is that Alisters demon form is that of a deer or wendigo. So Vox went for extra diss here. Btw, reason why Alister has deer form is because when he was alive, he was serial killer and cannibal. One day he was hiding one of his victims in a forest and was shot by hunter who mistook him for a deer.

It seems like the Overlords powers are dependent on how many souls need or want what they supply. The Vees seem largely based on tech, pron and social media; all things that can get left in the dust pretty quick by the next new thing. So yeah, their influence is strong but at the same time kinda fragile.

"He'd be nothing without the other Vees" Real nice touch by Alastor. Sows a bit of dissent among the Vees, lets them know that they are stronger than Vox while complimenting them which, by the smiles on their faces from those words, can make them more sympathetic towards Alastor and make Vox more paranoid that they may leave him.

Not to mention the fact that the closing lines that Alistor speaks are the opening lines that Vox said, meaning that he knew what Vox was broadcasting from the start and flipped it so that Alistor was in the narrative control at the end. Also Vox was rambling like he was trying to convince the viewer to see him as right. Alistor just spoke with calmness and clarity and people naturally gravitated to him.

This song does definitely send a message to the other Overlords; if you try and go up against the Radio Demon, expect to have your little parade taken down by him in a matter of moments. Besides, the line 'The TV is buffering' is unique, as radios of the 1920s and 1930s didn't really buffer or glitch out, plus they've been around longer, in which Alastor uses this to his advantage.

The deeper symbolism in this song, is that Alastor is radio, an old, some would argue, outdated medium. While Vox is TV, the new, hit thing everyone always watches. But, Vox is always vying for everyone’s attention. While Alastor, doesn’t need to do much to get people listening. TV tries to get everyone to stop listening, but Radio is passive, you can be doing chores and still listen in. TV requires your full attention. TV’s require a clear signal, while Radio, runs on radio waves, and doesn’t receive much interference. Thus, Alastor/Radio, defeated Vox/TV. Also, notice how Vox was telling people what to think. While Al asked questions and have his own perspective, making listeners think and form their own opinions. Words, are some of Al’s greatest weapons, he’s a silver tongued manipulator.

Alastor very much cares, Alastor can't stand two things. One is those who completely disregard him such as someone stronger than him or someone that just straight up doesn't care about him. And the second is those that disrespect him or the things he's doing. He just doesn't show it in a way you'd normally notice. Alastor is always smiling and uses it to hide his feelings and intentions. To understand what he's thinking and feeling you need to pay attention to his eyes as his eyes are incredibly expressive and are one of the 2 ways he shows his feelings, the other being his shadow.

@ROARTHERAPPER if do not know this show then I will tell you Alastor is the red guy and he has been gone for 7 years and Vox really hates him and he is one of the strongest characters in the show so at the end that beast he turned into is basically the Windigo if you know what the Windigo is so yeah he is pretty powerful and Vox is in a group called the vee's with Vox, Valenteno ,and Velvette and Alastor almost beat Vox so he is mad at Alastor but Alastor has a deal with Lilith which is Lucifer's wife and theory is that he was in heaven for 7 years with Lilith which is Charlie's mom and Lucifer is her dad and Charlie has a hotel trying to redeem sinners to go to heaven and the hotel is where he did his broadcasts at and the backstory behind Alastor is he killed overlords souls and broadcasted their screams so that is why he is very dangerous and that is all I have to say for the song you reacted too. It's a pretty big point at the end that he completely re-sets the song. Once Vox's transmission dies, Alastor pulls back to his comfortable pace and meter. The final blow is him trivializing the entire fight, oh this will be fun... Similar to the fight with adam, you lack discipline, control, and you're sloppy. Alstor is terrifyingly unshakable and enjoys the game. Even after finally getting beaten, he leaves an eerie feeling as he retreats. Incredibly well written character.

Good on you for calling out the dorks across all websites who are perpetually changing their formats or general way of compiling content _especially_ here on KZread. I've been around since 2007 (not _this_ account) and have seen the primitive side with no ads but only the occasional requests to rate videos five stars. It was the wild west and the tag line was "Broadcast Yourself" which is exactly what ordinary folk did. Around the mid-2010s that all went away and suddenly people are making soyfaces in their thumbnails with red arrows/circles and clickbait titles just to rake in that revenue. The rules (which YT staff ignore) are always changing and creators big and small have to walk on eggshells. At the same time there are the toxic people on the platform whom the masses wish would disappear but instead get paid millions of dollars while higher quality content is overshadowed by such drivel. ... then there are people such as yourself who are way more grounded and actually stick to what the video title suggests. Staying on topic the way you do makes the runtime feel shorter than it is. You don't come off as the kind of bozo on KZread who is incessantly requesting viewers to like/share/comment/subscribe/ring bell/promote external websites ad infinitum. I like you. Stay awesome.

I’m not trying to talk about whatever I want with as much vulgarity as I want, because that’s not who I am. And I don’t try and blend the rules in order to get more revenue, but it also helps that this isn’t my main job.
