Looks like fun. I have a Colorado XT that I think would be fun to take down this river. I have done some class 2+ with it. I think the secret to running large rapids is staying straight. As soon as you get sideways, it's easy to get swamped and flip.

2:20 i swear you guys took the exact same line that I saw when you scouted it. Question: I have a canoe that I river-run with. Was thinking about a kayak but now I've seen these. They seem wayy more stable, especially for these class 3's(?). Maybe a lil more wet, but that's not always bad. Can carry more, but has a wider footprint. Dual oars are nice but very wide. You've probably been kayaking, so which do you prefer??

You guys should look into some oar rites, and tethers. Looked fun!

I've run Trout Creek to Maupin lots of times in a Don Hill wood 16' standard DB. That run in a pontoon could or should be on my bucket list... what a great time you all must have had. I've got a stand up floor in my Pac 1000, must be what you all are running too. I don't see that Outcast sells that floor any longer... too bad.

Love the No Yaks avatar. Ha! I had 2 Yaks, even the pedal Hobie for fishing. Sold them all when I tried my first toon. Nothing beats a toon in a drift and nothing beats finning and trolling. Everyone seems to want a stand platform. Here is a novel idea...get a longer rod. I Spey cast on stillwaters, rivers etc with an Orvis 8136 Love it. Good Luck!

This is awesome. Im trying to plan out a trip next may and im looking to find a personal watercraft for this river at $500 or under. Any Recommendations?

Has anyone considered going way left on whitehorse with a Colorado XT? I was told we could go left where it's much calmer but too shallow for drift boats? Thanks-

I *love* my Fishcat Panther. It's 9 ft. Looks the same. I see one of the oarsman standing up in the video. Did you get a floor? Or how given there are just foot pegs for rowing? If you got a floor, where did you order it?

@@Matt-zp9vv Yeah they did. I haven’t floated any rivers yet. I want to but don’t want to go alone. Lol I think the XT would hold up no problem.

I have a Colorado pontoon boat. I was wondering if it could handle this kind of action. I am thinking about taking it down the buffalo river in Arkansas . I was wondering if you guys ever dumped and if so how hard of time did you have getting back on and going again or did you have to bank it to get back going.

I have Colorado XT also. They rate it at class 1, but probably due to liability. I believe both boats, the Outcast and Fishcat have dual urethane bladders and aluminum frames and are a little beefier strapping etc. I love my XT for the price though. I bet it could handle what I saw in this video. If you are experienced you might try it and let me know. Ha!

I have the same boat. I’ve done this River many times, but usually in a 14’ raft with buddies on a 2 night trip. This looks like a blast, but there are a few rapid downstream from where they took out. I think the Colorado could handle it.

Mine is the 10' IR. My buddy is on an 9' Fish Cat. Both have large pontoons that make it possible to get through pretty big water.

adamwurban I used a GoPro on a monopod stick. I have it in a rod holder mounted at the rear of the boat. You can see it in the video mounted on my boat as I stand up to see Whitehorse Rapids.
