THANKS FOR VISITING!!! *Please Subscribe to our Channel to see more great videos*
Are you fascinated by New Orleans culture, Louisiana politics, sports, or want to see classic New Orleans commercials or even watch a historic event from the local TV news, well, you have come to the right place!
Tens of thousands of videotapes and film reels are destined for the garbage and landfills and many have already been destroyed. If you, your family or your organization has historic video tapes or film reels of special events, classic sports programs and TV News that were broadcast over the airwaves during the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, please consider helping us archive and preserve that history for future generations.
Our mission is to digitize and transfer the videotapes and film reels in order to preserve them and to make the programs accessible via the internet (KZread) for educational and research purposes. Would you like to help? You or your organization can financially sponsor the preservation of individual videotapes and film reels as well as help us digitize entire collections. I'll never forget all the great times I had at Pontchartrain Beach in 1981, 1982, and 1983. Just being in the area emanates eternal nostalgia for me. It's forever a part of my childhood and my life. I was too small to ride the Zephyr Roller Coaster but I was allowed to ride the Ragin Cajun.

I went in the 70's and early 80's. It was the best park ever. It got sold to some guy who wanted to make condominiums there which turned out to be a scam. It went undeveloped for ages until UNO built a building there. I also heard that rising admissions prices and the new popularity of home video games kept more kids at home rather than going out to the park. I'm just grateful that like many others i got to experience the magic of being there, and saw it for myself. I'll always miss it.

It's a damn shame they closed down this legendary amusement park. I loved going there whenever I visited my family in New Orleans and I made sure I got on rides like the Zephyr, the log ride and the bumper cars.

I remember going in 1962 to 1965. There was a version of the song that went Pontchartrain Beach, Pontchartrain Beach, bring your BB gun, watch all the...run, at Pontchartrain Beach.

They closed because of pollution concerns in the lake & customer decrease after segregation ended. Ignore the race baiting comments by ignorant racists, who ironically never have anything to say when whites do mass-shootings.
