Brady Bunch at Kings Island 1973 pop up video
Highlights of the classic Brady Bunch episode "The Cincinnati Kids" made into a VH1 pop up video. I recorded this from TV Land. This episode was filmed in 1973, so Kings Island was only 1 year old! I posted this for the rides and fun facts, not the riveting storyline, so most of the dialogue has been edited out.

I think it's a pre internet generation thing! The world wasn't at our fingertips so everything was new and amazing when you went to these parks and other tourist areas. We also didn't have endless music and movies to download so going to the movies and buying new CD's was a great experience. Now, you can see everything online and nothing is really a surprise anymore. You can view the entire world from a phone. You can POV all these rides and see the entire park before you even go. I recently went to Cedar Point with my 21 year old nephew and his 18 year old cousin in law and both were on their stupid fucking phones all day every day, it was unbelievable. At 47, I still out lasted them both during our three day visit. As I was walking around the park, saw many others his age fucking with their phones while at one of the greatest thrill parks in the world. Mind boggling. Again, I think it's due to information overload and the immediate satisfaction that phones provide versus having to walk around and wait for coasters even though most were only 15 minute waits the week we went. So yeah, I agree... our generation was full of amazing innovations yet didn't take over our lives. We still went outside and rode our bikes and skateboards all over the place. We had lives away from the technology.

The music when they're on the roller coaster is EVERYTHING!!!!
We were there when this was filmed in 1973. I tried to put mushroom prints on Marshas head.
My parents swear we were there the day they filmed. I definitely remember going the KI many times as a kid (we grew up less than an hour north), but I don't remember the film crew or cast. I'd have only been 7 at the time, probably why. Wonderful seeing all the old rides, many of them gone now. Just learned the old fashioned cars are coming back for 2019. Great times.
And to think none of this would be in existence today if it weren't for Mike Bradys fabulous plans. What visionary, what an architect, what a DAD!!!! The Pyramids, the Roman Coliseum, and now Mike Bradys Amusement Park...... It must be the eighth wonder of the world? Thank goodness those lost plans were found just in the knick of time, a Mike Brady original being lost forever to the humanity of the ages.. And that 10,000,000 dollar bonus the boss gave to him...... WOW ! I personally think he should have gotten more..... after all, Marcia needs a nose job due to that horrible football accident. .....

Being a child of the 70's its amazing that as kids we were thrilled to go to an amusement park. The one in my city only had two roller coasters. An arrow corkscrew and a mine train. The rest were flat rides and a log ride. We would wait hours to ride a flat ride. Amazing how times have changed.

You are crazy Jerry, the Beast is the best ride in the park and is a classic. It's rough but it's always been rough, takes a tough person to ride it. Has a great safety record too. Maybe you should go to the kiddie side of the park.
The tv land comments were hilarious. I was laughing the whole time reading them!
I just went there the other day and it's cool to look at some of the rides that they rode and I also rode.
The ride showed @ 3:04 is the "Flying Eagles". It stayed at the park for several years in the Coney Mall section before it was taken down, replaced by a hoop shooting game, and then after Cedar Fair purchased all Paramount Parks, they brought back that same technical ride under a different name, "Woodstock Gliders" in Planet Snoopy and "Snoopy is a Beagle so an appropriate albeit unofficial nickname for that ride would be "Flying Beagles".
I'm pretty excited to find out they went there! I love Kings Island even more now!
I wish more shows were filmed at Kings Island

Grew up an hour southwest of Cincinnati. Kings Island was a summer tradition in the late 70s and 80s
It still feels like it was yesterday I was watching them.
I grew up in Cincinnati and went to Kings Island every year.
I was there also. Chis and Mike were further back in line. That Swiss bucket ride thing. Also saw Robert Reed further up in same line. He was very polite to my friend’s Mother. He shook hands with her. Saw Ann B Davis rehearsing the Eiffel Tower scene. Mother got a photo of Florence Henderson .
Thanks for the video loved it.
I spent a lot of my youth there at Kings Island. I was the same age as Marcia and this brings back a lot of great memories.
This is really cool to look at. I've gone to Kings Island all my life, but I was born in 1981, and a lot of rides, like the canoe ride and that black/red one, I didn't know about. And the Racers red tracks are so bright and new.

This year, Kings Island is having their 50th Anniversary!
I grew up in the Cincinnati area and still live here. Been to Kings Island many times but it was a lot more fun in my youth
When Kings Island opened in 1972, it was arguably one of, if not THE greatest park in the country. Cincinnati based Taft Broadcasting built the park, which was its flagship park, along with Kings Dominion in Richmond Va, and I believe Carowinds also. For many many years Kings Island's attendance topped all seasonal parks in the US and it is still usually up in the top 2 along with Cedar Point today. Taft Broadcasting promoted the park heavily as a National Destination when they owned it, however beginning with Paramount's and later Cedar Points ownership the National promotional efforts turned into much more of just a regional effort. When I was a child in the mid 70s, visiting this park with my parents from nearby Southern Indiana was by far my favorite day of the year. Over the years I think the park has lost some of its luster because of both the decrease in promotion and also the complete over emphasis of thrill rides replacing family rides...While super thrill rides are necessary and always make a big splash,, it's also important to have more family oriented attractions for long term stability. I think the current owners Cedar Point realize this and it's a big reason they are beginning to bring more family attractions back.. The Dolphin Show was a classic in the 70s along with the Biplanes show with skydivers, the train ride when it had real actors, The Enchanted Voyage was a classic, Lion Country Safaris monorail gave it a Disney like feel, along with the Skyride The major improvements to the Royal Fountain and International Street area this year, along with the return of the Classic Car Ride were major steps in the right direction in my view... It also appears that possibly a major roller coaster is in the works for 2020 in an area slightly north and east of the Racer. Now if only they could get the promotional spots going again like they were in the 70s.
