PONER vs PONERSE? How to use TO PUT in Spanish Correctly

For our verb series we already have a video on “poner” BUT, this tricky little verb has the reflexive version “ponerse” which hurts students all the time. The reality is that separating between reflexive and non-reflexive is one of those things that natives decipher through years of exposure. That being said, this is what I’m here for, to find tricks, shortcuts and tips for you. That way you can accelerate the process and start using “poner” and “ponerse” like natives do! =)=)=)

    I got 3 answers correct on the quiz. I should've wrote down the tips in my notebook BEFORE the quiz. 😄 I definitely struggle with reflexive/non-reflexive, but I'll get it eventually. Been seriously considering signing up on the website to improve. Casi casi. Lol. Que tengas un lindo dia.

    Hey Maura, maybe I've had too many beers, but I'll ask anyway. Do you have a P.O. Box where you live? I've seen other KZreadrs do this, and it seems like a safe way for the viewers to be able to send gifts while keeping the crazy online people from knowing your home address. I'd like to make you a gift, but if you weren't interested, or didn't have a P.O. Box, I didn't want to want to waste time/energy/materials to make it. If not interested, no hard feelings. I will still support the channel. 👍

    Yeah! It'll work almost the same. But "poner por escrito" is even closer to "anotar/apuntar" than it is to "escribir". I hope this answers your question! =)=)=)

    Alberto desde Moscu Hola, querida profesora! Me has puesto de mal humor. Al parecer, todo lo bueno se esta acabando. Asi es la vida - que ha de ser sera. Lo mas triste es que mi gata Bonie no tendra la suerte de platicar con el senor Margarito sobre el sentido de la vida. No te imaginas como se puso, hecha una fiera. ❤❤❤

    Pienso que the reason spanish is hard to english learners is that english makes no sense and we are used to it, but spanish has logic in a way we arent used to our language having. English is like simple addition, where double negatives cancel eqch other out. Spanish is like algebra, beautiful equation where every word ending has agreement and meaning to help you understand context as a whole. The more languages i learn (American Sign Language, French, Spanish, Russian, Georgian) the more I realize how ineffective my native language of american english is for communication.

    How common is “Por fa” versus “Por favor”? This is the first time I have seen it. Also is it only Mexican Spanish?

  • @MauraSpringSpanish

    @MauraSpringSpanish

    VERY COMMON. I'm Venezuelan and I use it all the time. But I've never met a Spanish speaker that doesn't use it from time to time. You can use it with confidence. No one will find it weird. =)=)=)

    Me salvas la vida would translate to “you saved my life”. Is “me salvas” reflexive? It doesn’t appear to be like “me gusta “

  • @MauraSpringSpanish

    @MauraSpringSpanish

    9 ай бұрын

    "Me salvas la vida" does translate to "you saved my life". It can be reflexive, yeah. Think about it like this: "me" = to me. "salvAS": you do it. The conjugation tells you is "you" who is doing the action. I hope this helps! =)=)=)
