    How much time takes to on PON light??

    Hi Roy, can you clarify your question? The signal in the fiber travels at the speed of light. The time it takes the system to start is dependant on the equipment used.

    @@KnowledgeBase2020 Actually my question is, I am using DBC XPON Modem for FTTH BSNL ... After Power On the XPON Modem, PON light is getting on after 6 minutes then I can access internet... So is it normal for all of the device or it's something defects with my device...

    Thanks for clarifying. In such a case you should contact the modem original manufacturer as this is related to the product in use.

    If I want to sell gigabit internet to multiple residential customers off of a single 32x split ratio passive fiber link, will GPON suffice, or do you think it'll be best to upgrade to something like XGS-PON?

  • @KnowledgeBase2020

    @KnowledgeBase2020

    No GPON will only give 2Gbps shared bandwidth for the 32 subscribers on the single splitter. If you're looking for higher bandwidth you'd better go with XG-PON.

    @@KnowledgeBase2020 I agree, however not everyone will use 100% of their allocated bandwidth 100% of the time. I was thinking with a 1:15 over-subscription ratio, you might be able to get away with using the less expensive GPON option.

    Hi Matthew, I understand what you are saying. It is your call. You should take into consideration the profile of your clients and how much you want to invest in the quality of your service. From my experience, for normal users, having moderate bandwidth demand, the GPON is more than enough.
