Same, gone through maybe 20 reactions or so and I still get tingles/ such good vibes 😂
Bassist has a spotlight in the song G.O.A.T. - he's good solo, they should give him more.
The bassist shines Every Song
A 6 minute song that feels like its just 2 :D Still gives me shivers listening to Steve in the video even after listening to it more than a 100 times.
5:53 that is the pure J-rock/Trap beat segment of the song. It takes me back to animes like Claymore and other classics. I get fucking goosebumps whenever I hear this song. A timeless classic from this era and will continue to be from now on, believe me. The Brasstracks section at the end with the trumpet is majestuous. I have cried some times while being emotional and listening to this song. Such a powerful masterpiece!
Have to think a bass feature is coming, it was really hitting in this song, yet this was a shot fired around the music world for guitarists.
The clays really do need to get some more love. I agree. My favorite bass groove is in The Worst. Probably my second favorite song from them

3:20 I’ve probably listened to this song over 100 times and I’ve never noticed those sounds before! 😂😂
Well tbh, the drummer might as well be the most insane of them all and rarely gets the spotlight, he did in G.O.A.T. and it felt like he carried that entire track :D
That AAAGH @ 4:28 is EXCATLY how most true musicians feel hearing this whole song. IF WE WERE TRULY HONEST. 👉👈

Literally have no words. WTF. Epic!!!!! Love you two. Matt your my son's twin. Language of the birds has been translated.
I get to see this goofy group of guys in October I’m excited to hear there music live
That instrument/sound you were asking about is called a Cuica, or Monkey Drum. Very popular for Latin percussion (especially bossa nova, like Polyphia is using in this song)

I was really curious where they got the idea to add that random sound in there, had no idea there was an actual instrument that sounds like that. Thanks for the info. Edit: Unless that is a heavily processed sample of a Cuica, I'm not sure if that is a Cuica in the song here. Do you have an example of a Cuica making that sound?
@charlesjones9860

@@ThaBeatConductor No worries! If you need it more in context, just type "Cuica" in on KZread and watch videos of performers. The Cuica is a very versatile instrument with several unique tone profiles. You'll hear many uses of it, in many different contexts.

@@charlesjones9860 that's what I did. Only heard it squeak.
Why doesn't the bassist get a spotlight? Funny. Internet has made it so that Tim is the front man of the band unwillingly. Everyone has the spotlight on HIM, despite the FACT that ALL 4 OF THEM are masters of their own way of playing. This video is waaaaaay deeper than what you all see. That's why there is a THRONE. Tim sits on it first, the Scottie and finally Vai. This only because it is the death of an EGO. Whose? Tim's because of other people. He didn't want to be the front man... So he gives his place to Scottie...who then must give it to the OG Vai. The things they actually play and the notes they decide to use ALSO have a similar meaning and the location itself as well. That is why this whole thing is PERFECT. They, all or them hand picked EVERYTHING. Froms the notes, the poses, the location, the wardrobe, their guitars and bass, the beat drop, and the cherry on top...the trumpet player. No, it cannot go anywhere else. IT MUST BE THE FINAL PHRASE. It leaves you wanting more, correct? BINGO. This video/song should win everything this year. It might not because, well, Emmys...need I say more but they DESERVE IT.
I'm probably looking too deep into this but I feel like the video is representing them reaching up to Steve's "level" of playing or talent. They start at the main level at the beginning. This nice white room with beautiful furniture. Then as the song gets more like Steve vai, with the more distorted guitar tone and solos, they're up a few stories in a more abandoned part of the building. Then when they reach Steve on the roof, he's sitting on his throne like he's prepared for a guitar battle. And they do go back and forth face to face until he approves of them and just shreds along. Or maybe they just like playing in different rooms and found a homeless guy on the roof, who knows

Nah, you right. That is definitely what the were going for. They put too much effort into their music videos for it to not be symbolic.
You know what I’ve noticed is missing from your catalog of reviews, is some between the buried and me. Genuinely surprised y’all haven’t touched on them
They usually have the bassist and drummer doing their thing like in the video for GOAT. But this was all about guitars because a literal guitar god is in it lol. Rythm had to sit back on this one too pay respects to guitar master race
I agree, bassists always get the shaft, but I totally digged the bass lines.
Hell yeah clay did a sick solo in abc too with Scottie but I agree, he needs more screen time in music videos. He is the voice when they play live though, he's funny as fuck!
You must've missed the video. They featured Glay G. all throughout the video! He is a supporting role in this song, so he didn't get "solo time." However, that wasn't the point of this song, and he does get shining moments in plenty of other tracks, including GOAT, 40oz, Nightmare, LIT, Saucy, and ABC.
Nice trim by Mat
Nice song. Thanks.
React to their song GOAT, the bassist gets some love, he is amazing.

This is a new part of the guitar Story !! everything change now.... for the futur new guitarist...
Hey. I don't know if you've heard this song but the bassist gets a solo in G.O.A.T...... Y'all should react to it. It's Really nice
This was a really special sound. Stevie Vai is one of my all time favorite players, but i have to admit that this kinda sets the stage for Polyphia to do a series of collaborations. Like, can we imagine Polyphia teaming up with the GRAND WIZARD Jeff Beck ??? I hope somebody in either camp is thinking the same thing. I think Mr. Beck could offer the 'LEVEL UP' key to Scotty and Tim, should they choose to listen. Carlos Santana SLASH Pat Metheny ... Who would you think would make a wicked collab ???? They could do it like an honors album ... a respect to all the best of the best guitar players ever ???
That was a fucking amazing reaction ! Please react to the whole album , it’s coming out on 29/10

As a father to a 15 year old son who is playing bass more than guitar these days, I have to agree. They need to give him some more spotlight. One of their older songs, Crush, features him a lot in the beginning before the guitars kick in. He’s a great bass player and plays his part perfectly but hopefully we will see him highlighted more.

Yeah Clay is awesome. Some of my fav riffs of his are in Saucy, honestly that track is just him owning it all the way through.

I've watched the original video maybe 50 - 60 times now, and add to that all the 'reaction' videos I've come across. You two have shown the most un-emotional response to Ego-Death that I have seen so far. Just watch a few random other peoples reactions, ypu'll know what I mean. I've seen genuine tears, desk banging, body rocking (not just head nodding). OK, I accept that this was your reaction to this, but everyone I've ever played it to for the first time has been either completely immersed and blown away, or had a 'not my sort of thing' reaction. Interesting to see an alternative 'lack of reaction' reaction vid.
this was a guitar porn song. Clay gets love in the other tracks

This woman ALWAYS looks AWAY from the screen during 90% of the "reaction" videos... And the bassist had the spotlight during the entire third of the song.. PAY SOME ATTENTION, DUDE -.-
Poor reaction video, you guys need to offer nore reaction and insight during transitions and recognize the difficulty of their playstyle. It didn't feel like you enjoy the type of music. You just said you liked it. As a semi musician this is one of the most progressive and exciting things I've heard in years. You guys didn't show any of that excitement
