A Mooney Aircraft is over $ 800,000. The first thing you need to do is get a pilot license (first a physical). The pilot license will cost about $15,000 plus training on this aircraft. It only holds 2 people so if you are going to shuttle people back and forth in a city you will need one that will hold many more people. The FAA is worried about us flying our small drones, just think what they will restrict when these things start flying around.

$15,000 for a licence? xDDDDDDDDD in my country it is 3 times cheaper) What a difference in prices and salaries in different countries, terrible... Even a private light aircraft is 30 times cheaper than their vehicle, no one outside the US will buy it - the price is exorbitant

@@Beecher_Dikov I'd love to fly not to save money too, although it doesn't correspond to the concept of "aerotaxi" because the pilot has to get money and pay off his plane. dаmn I'd just take a bus to a neighbouring town to hang out without saving money. But I can't afford it. You can "not to save money" only when you have them. And of course I understand that in the U.S. salaries from 3000 to 10000 dollars a month, but in my country 1000 a month is unacceptably luxurious salary, to live steadily 300 bucks is enough, it's just what the U.S. produces and sells for its price tag - the rest of the world often can not afford.

Im an aviation enthusiast and a pilot and I cant emphasize how silly and unconventional this conglomeration is.. All they need to do is take a helicopter that has counter rotation rotors that fold back and put wheels under it and it would actually be something you could certify and fly!

Although this is very cool, I absolutely wanted to see a lift off, flight and landing.

Theres a thing called flight levels for VFR. By the time eVTOLS are being sold to retail AI (FSD)will be well and truly in charge.

Will have that range with Solid State Batteries I'd imagine. Right now with current batteries you could only fly 1-hour on fixed wing light aircraft.

the wings will probably generate most of the lift during normal flight so power consumption should be way less with only 2 motors running

Yeppers I've been hearing about this for a while now and am so happy to see it is a reality near! I believe it is the future of cars and planes in general! It will be a big mess considering if everybody owns one how this is going to stop traffic jams and congestion I don't see it at all! More collisions and more money are what I see happening until it is all in actual working programs such as the trucks and cars that drive themselves!

As far as I can see from this video, it's an $800K flying car... that doesn't actually fly? And it's not really a car... more of a motorcycle? And it doesn't drive very well either? Not very fast? Not good at cornering? So thus far they've shown us that this thing is a super expensive car that's not a very good car, and not actually a plane either. And as far as expensive cars go, this one's quite homely too.

It might be awhile before this becomes a reality. You need automatic cars to be standard before automatic drone vehicles becomes a thing. Mainly the issue I see is if a drone motor fails and causes it to fall into traffic, buildings and other people. Atleast with automatic cars they'd pull over and let the flying vehicle do an emergency landing. You need alot more infrastructure too specific for landing and take off not just at airports or private runways. Can't go out to the store to buy something and come back on this for example. It's more for those that have their own landings at the moment (like chopper use to go home to work etc).

I've been told that it's a big no-no to call it a "flying car" ... given the price, I guess they can justify calling it a "Roadable Aircraft..." 😂

It may have some military application but that'll be it, I think. This sort of flying car concept has been around since I was a kid in the fifties!

Cool stuff. Love it. I would like having one of these. But imagine this: Some drivers have problems navigating in two dimensions. Now add the third dimension and what could possibly go wrong? 😁

When it actually flies and is not just a CGI piece of fantasy, get back to me.

Would be useful for a taxi service for people that lives on a small or midsize islands on the coast. Larger islands got car ferries, but you have stick to the time table, and on smaller islands people usually use their own personal motor boats in order to get to land.

Guy hasn't even managed to build a series car that he already thinks about a limited edition and a rental business paln... 🙄 Even if I had the money, it would be a big *nope* for me...

Amazing gadget! I am wondering what type of safety technology is employed? What if one or two of the propeller motors go defective. Are there backup systems in case a controller board or a processor board fails? And so on... When flying a helicopter I can tell you of there is a rotor or blade failure the ground comes to you very fast!

@@byteme9718 Apparently, these prototypes are flying. They are working on the same type of platform as vertical takeoff military drones that can carry some thousands of pounds of payload. Eventually, after all the necessary development has been done these will be commercially available. They will be regulated as like an aircraft should be. The only difference is these vehicles can fold up in a way where they can be driven like a car on the road. A companies called Klein Vision, Rolls Royce, eVTOL AVX Aska, Joby, Alef and others have operating flying cars being experimented with.

It's -a- future, not -the- future. Case in point. People have enough difficulty getting around in two dimensions. Railroad grade crossings is my first example of ordinary people having difficulty grasping the concept of being safe and not ignoring the flashing red lights. Adding the Z axis is really going mess with peoples heads. Looking left, right and now up AND down. Then there's the pre-flight checks, because being an aircraft, there's going to be those. Then ATC clearance for take off and route planning. Waiting for your turn to take off because you're not the only one that has one. Not being able to take off in designated take off and approach lanes.(You don't want to lose your rotors in 747 landing gear.) Awesome machine though.

Are there any safety measures in case it drops out of the air?

Seeing this is cool but I can't help but wonder what happened to the *_AeroMobile_* vehicle from that company in Slovakia. That car was awesome and last I heard they were doing test flights. I hope you get a chance to ride/drive that!

AeroMobile is dead, bankrupt, but the project carried on to a new one called AirCar by one of its former creators. Latest info from March 2023 is, it is still in development with updated design and potential new capabilities of seating 4 instead of just 2. Still in experimental phase though. Nothing new since then.

This could be the first step into the future of flying cars (although convertible flying cars has been made before), but I really don't see this take off with great success. If one of those vertical rotors fail while in flight.. Thing gives me Titan Sub vibes..

I love a wacky stuff as much as anyone, but this thing as a car would seem to me to have aero of a house!

If everyone would fly these huge things in to a city and drive to their final destination, I think that would cause more congestion, not less.

With a project like this you should ALWAYS start with the most difficult part as the basis .... So START with something that FLIES and convert it to something that drives NOT the other way round.... A lot of these so called flying cars have that problem its in the NAME.... It should be DRIVING AIRPLANE.

Look at all those Super Cars that Blondie is holding up. In NJ if it is owned and used as a farm vehicle, and doesn't go over 35mph, no Registration is needed.

NO, it is not the future. The FAA will require a Private Helicopter pilots license also you would need a IFR ( Interment Flight Rules) certificate if you plan on flying in low visibility conditions. Private Helicopter pilot instruction cost any were between $10k to $20K that's not including IFR certificate instruction.

Clearly hasn’t looked over the mishap rates for GA aircraft. Still need a PPL and is clearly only VFR. Still love it though shame we didn’t get to see it fly or have more info on the specs and propulsion.
