7 Real Flying Cars That Actually Fly

7 Real Flying Cars That Actually Fly
----------------------
AeroMobil
The AeroMobil is a fascinating vehicle for several reasons; first off, it’s a real flying car. Yes, that can actually fly in real life. You can make use of the AeroMobil for its aerial capabilities or its more mundane road-traveling capabilities. AeroMobil is faster than most traditional flights, and is less stressful and time-consuming than traveling through a traditional airline or ordering for a helicopter.
bit.ly/2DUDXc0
PAL-V Liberty
The Personal Air and Land Vehicle is an aircraft manufacturer based in Netherlands. The company has been in business for more than 20 years with the dream of building an actual flying car from the get-go. After years of research and development, it launched its first flying car known as PAL-V Liberty.
bit.ly/2LPFIvh
Klein Vision AirCar
In late October 2020, Klein Vision has released a video of its AirCar taking a maiden flight. Similar to Aeromobil, the vehicle is a four-wheel car with only two seats and it does actually fly like an aircraft. There is no instant vertical lift; AirCar needs a runway for takeoff and landing.
bit.ly/2MhgllJ
Airbus Pop.Up
Pop.Up as a concept was presented at the 2017 Geneva auto show. It was part helicopter and part car, and Airbus claims that although further development will rely on technologies that at this point are not mature enough, the basic idea actually is feasible. Technically speaking, the Pop.Up is already very close to a form of new transportation which can be produced right now.
bit.ly/2LYNjYm
Terrafugia Transition
On display at the New York International Auto Show in April 2012, the Terrafugia Transition brought a tangible evidence to the world that the concept of flying car was not at all imaginary. Now that it is a fully-working model instead of just a prototype, you can actually buy it for an estimated price of $400,000.
bit.ly/3sUWl9A
Maverick Flying Car
Developed by Indigenous Peoples Technology and Education Center, the Maverick Flying Car is never intended as a vehicle for the general population, but a vehicle to help reach those in remote locations where transportation is a real challenge. Maverick is an FAA-certified flying car, so it is actually road legal. The vehicle is powered by a fuel-injected 2.5-liter Subaru engine that generates 190 horsepower.
bit.ly/3pdJsEZ
Terrafugia TF-X
Known as TF-X, Terrafugia has fitted it with hybrid powertrain to propel the wheels on the ground and two electric rotors for flying. The vehicle does its takeoff vertically instead of requiring high speed run before airborne. The pair of electric motors put in combination with a petrol engine that generates 300 horsepower should theoretically deliver ridiculous amount of megawatt.

Now this is what I really need to get to work and bypass all the expressway traffic. The last one on the list is the best option so when you get stuck in traffic, we just climb vertically over all the traffic. That would really surprise the other stuck traffic, wouldn't it?? The days of all flying cars are a long way off. But we can always watch movies like "Blade Runner" or " the Fifth Element".

  • @Goldpenny1

I like where Aibus is going and the TFX the best because they look the best and the Maverick is great for remote terrains. The drone style with 4 rotors like what Airbus has is best for redundancy of safety in case one or even two rotors malfunction. The TFX looks pretty good in flight mode almost like something out of Science Fiction. I would expect that transformability with expandability will be the key to desirable form and function. Many of the other flying cars are too big and strange looking to drive.

A "flying car" should, at least for me, be able to: 1) run in the streets normally; 2) have no need of a landing strip to land or to take off - so we can get out of a traffic jam. So, vertical landing and taking off. 3) be more or less as compact as a normal car. So only the last one really qualifies.

Although these are great designs and very interesting, I don't really take them seriously because of how many moving parts it has and requiring a pilots license is a big issue. I think when man can figure out how to create a way make a vehicle hover using magnetism or vibration, then we'll be able to mass produce it for the general public. But until then, these are just rich man's toys who probably already has a standard car and airplane themselves.

The Chinese car company, Geely, owns and intended to make the Terrafugia. Terrafugia was created by 6 MIT graduate students who sold the rights to Geely. From what I can tell from the Geely web page, the Terrafugia is no longer on the table for further development being to costly to produce, thus limiting those who could afford it. Geely started out making refrigerators. Now they own several brand names such as Lotus, Volvo and Proton. They own 9.7% of Daimler. Geely raised $55 million in private investments for Volocopter, an eVTOL(Vertical take off and landings) aircraft for use as a potential air taxi vehicle. Geely is now also making low orbit satellites.

All of these have the same problem that the 1940's Aerocar had they are technically brilliant but they are compromised cars, compromised aircraft and they are priced like a supercar so you could by a top end sedan and have all the comfort, a second hand Cessna and have money left over for fuel. Lets not forget security concerns 'So you want to fly a vehicle that you can pack with high explosives around my city' what's wrong with this picture. I think these are all brilliant ideas especially the parasail off roader but they will all probably end up as blips who usefulness doesn't outweigh their limitations.

These are not flying cars, but planes traveling on the road, which violate road safety. One of them is the design, which forms protrusions beyond the front profile and can be very dangerous on the road, especially when passing a pedestrian or cyclist. They are also non-maneuverable and unstable when driving on the road. Management of such a device is not standard. Maybe somewhere where there is a strong lobby, or the traffic police have a friendly relationship with rich people, such "vehicles" may appear, but there is still no car made that flies and should not be on the road. In addition, we have trailers in which we transport our aircraft (I am a pilot and a driver). :)
