Yes, more bone is stronger and less chance of joint problems. Look at winning show dogs at Westminster etc.Their uncle past winner Westminster

Also, when breed standard pugs, like these, are younger pups at this age they look more chunky monkey. As they grow there is less bone (thickness of leg). I just saw one of these pups last week, at age 7 months. I’ll find video
