Polaris Sportsman 570 Review (after owning for 1 year) Pros & Cons of EBS/EPS

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My Polaris Sportsman 570 review after owning it for a year. The Polaris Sportsman 570 might just be the best all around atv for the money this year. Rode it just before winter, and then had to store her until the snow melted, but still got in some solid miles. Here's a quick pros and cons review video, and some things about the electronic power steering and engine braking I did and did NOT like. Overall, one the best budget atvs you can buy for the money!

    So this video just got ruined... copyright strike from youtube for a music track I purchased to use in this video. Expect some weird audio transitions now as this has been stripped out and replaced with the wrong music tempo. Sucks

    KZread is absolutely terrible with the copyright takedowns and strikes. The process is bad, the review of fair use is bad and gives power to literally anyone claiming copyright regardless of whether they have any interest in the actual copyright. You need to stick to using music that’s clearly in the public domain to even have a chance at fighting it.

    Great review. Got an easy fix for the aggressive EBS. I got an EPI clutch kit for mine and it works great now. I installed it myself. Replaced the springs, weights and helix. Still has some engine braking, but not as neck braking as before.

    Great video! Bought 2 570's 2017 and had them for a year now. Agree with everything you said. Wiring harness for the winch control is pre-installed at the factory which takes a little bit of the headache out of install. The only complaint of this machine is that the battery on both of them had to be upgraded to a bigger one and the relays for the EFI system do not like the extreme cold. Overall I love these machines.

    Good review, I have the 2017 570 and agree on the EBS. It is too strong even after 800 miles. I've rolled mine twice and bent the bars. But overall a great machine. I've broke a latch on the front compartment and had to reinforce the hinge as I broke that riding a little too rough. I ride very aggressively and have dented 3 of the rims, but the bike is still running well. I would buy it again.

    Looks like a pretty solid and honest review, especially considering the time and miles you put on it. I was set on a Honda but the price and maybe ho hum power makes me think if Polaris can't give me what I need. That squeak and no metal racks though... Sure looks like a beautiful area where you are riding.

    Great review! My buddy just bought one of these and had it in the shop within 100 miles due to electrical issues from water crossing (was not deep). However, beyond that it is holding up well and he really likes it. I personally want one after reading about proper care for belt break in and when to use high / low to avoid belt issues. My goal would be to ride stock through warranty and then I would upgrade to a tougher belt AND clutch or cvt (whatever they are called) kit. Living in Alaska and being about 5 hours outside of town for some riding and another 2-3 hours back on a trail makes sense to bullet proof the system.

    Great review and great videos of riding. Question....have you ridden an 850? and if so, how big is the power difference. I am an aggressive dirt bike rider (been out of 4 wheelin' for many years) and a bit worried that I'll need/want more power to do everything. I assume that is why you are considering a 1000?

    Great review man, I read your review on clever leverage as well. I'm in the market for a rec/utility. Main purpose is for my wife to start riding the trails with me here in AZ. She wants a SxS but I think a smaller bore 4x4 with eps would save me some money. I've been looking at the 2018 polaris 450 with eps. I know there is only a $500 difference between the 450 and 570 but I'm afraid she may whisky throttle and the quad would flip (thinking less likely on the 450). Do you have any thoughts about the 450? Also looking into can am.

    I have a 2017 570 with EBS/EPS similar to yours. The one thing that drives me crazy is the EBS. If I let off the throttle under 10mph is almost stops you in your tracks. I have about 400 miles on it and it hasn't gotten any better. I think I need to look into a clutch kit.

    I bought a new '14 570, have 2k + miles, I horse whip it all the time. it has been completely reliable! Polaris fixed the hot leg problem for free. I do wish i had the EBS model, it is a hard steering machine and the lack of EBS makes it a drag to go down long hills. The engine has good power, my buddy's new grizzly barely out runs me but the 570 has a better center of gravity and is more confident when the trail gets gnarly. I love the AWD system, I switch it in and out on the fly all the time. Matt, you would be happy to swap out those cheap stock tires!

  • @acoustic4037
    @acoustic40375 жыл бұрын

    I added the diode in the headlight wiring that allows all 3 lights to be on. Low beam is 2 lights, high beam is all 3. You would be surprised to know having the 3d light on does absolutely nothing as you would expect. No real world illumination difference. I was one of the many lucky ones who got the faulty BOSCH fuel pump that failed in less than 20 hours. Since it was out of their generous 6 month warranty they expected me to pay like $650.00 to fix it. I put my own in for $40 bucks... The way I see it is that a warranty is a show of confidence by the manufacturer that the product is good. 6 month warranties tell me that its supposed to be good until you get it home and then it's your problem. Just like I got burned owning a Dodge lemon, I will never buy polaris again. Next time I will pay a little more and get a quality brand like Honda. Just my 2 cents. The single best thing I think you can add to any atv is the gator gripp attachment. I can hold a 12 ft long pole saw, shovel, you name it in the grip and never comes loose- I dont know why the gator gripp doesn't come as a factory accessory.

    I have a 16’ 570 My steering squeaks on that with EPS as well. I have a 16’ 450 same squeak and it’s not EPS. But The EBS in my 570 drives me crazy! I hate it id rather have standard on both. I hate how it holds you back around corners and when you go slower speeds always doesn’t seem to know what to do. I’ve learned if you feather the brake and the gas a certain way is doesn’t activate the engine brake.. Other then that it’s gotten me through mostly everything on factory tires. I like it a lot.

    Agreed. I hate that I can't grab the lid like a rack and pull on the machine. Yep, but I just got off a Honda, and while it'll last 20 years, man the ride quality just isn't there. Polaris is faster, smoother, and can cover more ground per day. (yep, you'll have to replace some bearings from time to time, but soooooo much more comfortable)

    Polaris breaks down because the buyer/hater decides to take it put on the first day and beat down on it! If they are taken care of and not butchered then they are a good bike! It all depends on what you plane to use it for. 850 is a lot of power so is the 570, I got the 2019 570 sportsman touring for me and the wife and it's been great, completely bone stock and sunk it twice! With zero issues still have 15 hours until its broke in but I think polaris is a great brand if you dont plan on turning it into a pontoon or drive it off a cliff and expect it to still run! If your planning on thick and deep mud rides then polaris might not be for you, Yamaha or CAN AM or even Honda for that! But if your just backwoods riding or casual trail riding this machine is perfect but that just my opinion.

    I have a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500...Love the "trunk" feature and I get a little miffed about the lights too. Been riding this thing since 2007. It has proven to be a powerful and reliable steed that whole time with the only failure being the starter (recently). Pull rope starter works easily enough for me, though I am 6'3" and 270 lbs. Gonna buy a new Ranger 570 midsize based on my experience with the Sportsman. Always cracks me up when people refer to quads as "bikes" haha.

    Yeah man, people make fun of me all the time for saying that I like the trunk. But really, if you're out riding casually and want to bring lunch, a couple beers, and the camera equipment to film a video like this, the only other way would be one of those huge clunky storage boxes on the racks. I'd miss my trunk if I had to switch quads right now... Sweet, I'm looking for a used SXS now too! Do you think 570 is enough torque to make it scoot along loaded with stuff?

  • @bravo4adventure988

    @bravo4adventure988

    @@matt-justice I think it will be fine for my purposes since it's just going to be a workhorse, not a hotrod. That being said, if I could get one with a bigger engine and still the narrow two seater version, I would. It has to fit in the bed of my pickup and in the lightweight toy hauler that I plan to buy next year. I'm pretty handy with mechanical stuff, so if I find the power lacking, I will yank the 570 and swap in an 800 twin. I have no qualms about doing that, hahaha.

    @@matt-justice The one I'm looking at is a 2 seater (will fit in the back of my pickup) so it should be a little lighter. That being said, I will probably swap in a Sportsman 1000 engine.

    I ride Honda and absolutely love it .there very dependable and have good power. My buddies have a 2010 Polaris 550 and they hate it bc it's always breaking and nothing works right . Every time we ride, by the end of the day they have to work on it so that they can load it on a trailer there pretty rough on things but you say your rough too. So you should make a video when stuff starts breaking I'd like to know what breaks first

    @@therider6926 You @ the wrong guy :). My biggest complaint about the 570 is it sounds like it falling apart when you ride, the clutches rattle, the engine sounds like it's going to throw a rod, all the chassis parts squeak and rattle. Having said that, It has been very reliable, except for the stock junk battery. It was cheaper than anything out there!

    The 570 might be the best value today, but Polaris really screwed themselves in 2016 when they put the de tuned 570 engine in the 450 ho. You could get the 450 a lot cheaper, tune, pipe, and clutch kit, and bigger tires if you wanted and still be under the price of the 570. Only difference is the drive by wire on the 450.
