Polaris FREEDOM Plus Cordless Robotic Cleaner with Remote & Transport Caddy!

The Polaris FREEDOM Plus cordless robotic cleaner provides premium cleaning capabilities with four modes to clean everything from the Floor to the waterline in 2.5 hours or less. The name plays on the fact that this cleaner is entirely cordless. The FREEDOM Plus also comes with a remote control so that you can manually control the cleaner, and it has a very nice transport and storage caddy.
The cord has forever been a big issue with any pool cleaner, and having a cleaner that can leave a pool spotless every week without hoses or a cord has been the goal of everyone, from homeowners to manufacturers. The FREEDOM Plus offers cordless cleaning, but you also get some of the features of a corded cleaner, like the transport and storage caddy. The caddy also doubles as the charging station, as the charging base is on the bottom.
Quick to Charge. Quick to Clean. - Cleans for up to 2.5 hours. Recharges in 4 hours.
Unmatched Maneuverability: Dual traction motor enables brushes to rotate independently for enhanced maneuverability and wall climbing.
Cyclonic Vacuum Technology: Powerful cyclonic cleaning removes dirt and debris without losing suction.
Double Helix Brush: Proprietary blade design helps channel dirt and debris to the inlet.
Track Wheel Design: A continuous treaded wheelbase provides increased surface area for better traction while creating more potent suction beneath the cleaner.
SMART Cycle Cleaning Mode: Learn your pool to calculate the optimal cleaning time.
Enough cannot be said about the patented Lift System for easy removal from the pool. You can easily activate the Lift System from the remote control, and when the cleaner reaches its last 10 minutes of cleaning time, it will climb the walls and wait for you to retrieve it from the pool. With the Lift System, all the water is purged from the cleaner automatically when you begin lifting it out of the pool and, making it very light and easy to remove.
2.5-hour run time. The runtime is essential. For a cordless cleaner, the FREEDOM Plus is suitable for a small to medium pool and will easily clean that size pool.
4.5-hour charge time. Being able to run the cleaner two times in one day if needed is a real plus. Such short charge times make the FREEDOM Plus very versatile. If the pool needs a touch-up before a party, there is plenty of time to clean it with a rapid charge time like this.
The charging pad does not have a plug port for the cleaner. The plug port is a fail point for other robotic pool cleaners. Either the terminals get calcified, or water gets into the motor. The FREEDOM Plus eliminates this failing point with metal plates on the bottom that charge the lithium-ion battery-no need to plug it in.
Intelligent APP control. The features and functions in the iAqaulink app for FREEDOM are effortless. I think Polaris kept things as simple as can be. You only set the cleaning options on the floor - floors, walls, and waterline. Or you can choose the SMART mode, where the cleaner maps your pool the first time and sets the exact runtime. The next time you run it in, the cleaner will run just long enough to clean the pool without wasting battery life.
Double Helix brushes. To ensure thorough cleaning, FREEDOM is equipped with a one-of-a-kind Double Helix brush design that enhances debris collection by channeling dirt towards the vacuum inlet as it scrubs the surface of your pool, and a large, transparent filter canister to collect debris that’s easy to empty without getting your hands dirty - you remove, shake, and spray the debris away.

We have one of these. It works pretty well. I just wish the app was more useful and could track things like your current progress while it’s inside the pool, and not just when it’s at the surface. Of all the battery powered cleaners on the market, I think it’s the best and most reliable one available today.

Thanks for the great and honest feedback. Aiper is working on a floating module that will allow their cleaners to comunicate with an app and I am sure Polaris is doing something similar. It's just the nature of water blocking the signal.

Is the remote easy to use or do you need to be pointed excatly at the robot? How would you compare the ease of use to the wifi remotes on the corded units?

You have to point it at the antenna on top and hold the button while in use. I suppose it is the only way to penetrate the water effectively.

I haven’t needed to aim it directly at the robot while I was using it. The reason the antenna looks the way it does is because it has sensors on all four sides, and so long as it can see the light being transmitted by the remote, you can control it. However, that does mean it might be hard to control in full sunlight, because the light from the remote would be likely to be drowned out by the sunlight entering the pool.

I have an Aiper Scuba S1, that I’m delighted with, as it does an excellent job, at a third the price. Heh. I should also add that Polaris/Zodiac sells some very expensive plastic indeed. I’ve had a 380 for a number of years. It’s still streeting for near $900. The _rebuild_ kits (had to use them every so often) are upwards of $500, if you include the hose (which deteriorates.) And it doesn’t even do that great a job, compared to these newer cordless units. Have you priced the bags for that system?? Another wear item… Oh dear. No, “we’re not gonna take it”. I’m done with that brand, suffice it to say. Good luck to anyone who goes there.

There is a price to pay with these name brand manufacturers. I suppose it's like the fridges with the TV's build in or the washer and dryers that look like they are right out of Captain Nemo. There are levels to each market and consumers for all levels.

@@SPL People are paying for the name, and Polaris/Zodiac knows that. The bottom line is that the device should work right, while taking that into account. ;^)

Name brands like Polaris are definitely more trusted, and therefore can charge a higher price for their products. I’m willing to pay that price, because I’ve been burned by too many fly-by-night operations that were here briefly, delivered a good sales pitch on their products, and then they disappeared. Only time can tell us whether your favored brand will do that or not. But Polaris has been around for a very long time.
