I got the 965iq. Great vacuum but it doesn't last. Mine lasted 3 years and then broke. I will get another one but I will be getting an extended warranty for it the next time around.

Absolutely. It’s was my best purchase for my pool. I actually got to enjoy it during the season.
Do you leave it running every day for a few hours? What causes you to to remove it from the pool? We've been talking about getting one.

I let it run for a few hours, every other day. This also depends if the pool needs it or not. I take it out and spray with water from the hose just to wash of the chlorine and any dirt. Just to help prolong the life of the unit. This was the first year that I have actually enjoyed the pool because I bought the robot vac. Instead of messing around with hand vacs and getting frustrated. I’ll never go back 😀
How good does it work on and around the steps and waterline ?

Does great around the waterline. It will not climb my steps.
Older Polaris Models like the P825 had scrubbers on both front and back. This model does not have a scrubber on the back. Seems like a downgrade in that regard. How well does this model filter fine sediment and algae dust?

They offer a finer filter. I have it and works really well. I have no complaints with this unit so far.
It's a money pit... one year in and I get and error03 Traction Motor Left and I am out of warranty by one month. I saw no energy savings between the 9650iQ and running the booster pump with our Polaris 280; that picked up everyting golf ball size and smaller... The 9650iQ cannot pick up the smallest acorns thru the narrow inlet, who cares if it can be turned on (3) states way....? It's way over-priced for it capabilties and longevity, in my opinion. I cant affor a $1,400.00 throw away pool cleaner when the motors dont even seem to be available on the web.
You keep saying 9650iq. It’s 965iq. Unless this one ☝️ is a new model? 😂
