Polar Furnace Nozzle Design

Комедия

The nozzle on the Polar is designed in such a way that it will last for several years. I have been running this wood furnace for four years now; the refractory stone and intake grates above the nozzle show no signs of wear. The vortex chamber is also in great condition and shows no signs of wear. The amount of refractory in this furnace is very substantially made and very thick. One very nice feature are the intake grates because they protect the refractory stone around the nozzle entrance from damage when loading, you definitely don’t have to worry about breaking anything tossing large logs in there. This furnace also runs on a vacuum design not positive pressure, this helps keep gases flowing smoother so it will run cleaner. The amount of primary and secondary air can also be adjusted and dialed in for the type of wood or conditions you are burning in, we will look at this in a future video.

yes a great design for the refractory BUT everyone I know that has one they only lasted if your lucky about 5 years and then start leaking. Mine lasted 10 by the grace of God I'm told and now mine is leaking as well...now what?? Left to spend at least another 15k to replace it.... not ideal

This is the first time I have heard of any of them lasting less than 5 years. I have three other close friends with Polars that are also carbon steel, one has been running for 8 years, one 6, and me and another at 5 with no issues at all. That is too bad to hear about yours, why not just weld it up and keep running it? The new ones are also stainless, I will go this way if my fails or I can sell mine for good price.

I had bought mine in 2012...shortly there after I had family and friends interested in it so I recommended it to them...My aunt got a little over a year out of there Furnace... started leaking. Another family member is on his second one because of leaking issues and is going to change his up because he is so scared it will start leaking in the middle of winter and leave him in a bad situation..There is at least 3 or 4 other people in the community I know of with the same problem...It's disappointing for me because I just loved the whole aspect of that Furnace and only burned about 9 cords this year.

@@jamieprince2514 yeah, I feel they are the best designed furnace on the market still. I do think that the carbon steel was not the best choice of materials for sure. It’s good to see they changed that going forward. You can have a 304 stainless firebox welded into your carbon steel water jacket. If I don’t upgrade or go bigger that is the route I will take.
