Pokemon Snap 100% Speed Run in

Current best 100% time by RaikerZ, done in a single-segment (no saves).
Author's comments:
I'm very happy with this run of Pokémon Snap, the two big issues were Weepinbell being in a bad position for an early hit, and one of my apples going through Mew's shield. The rest of the run was done extremely well, especially the early Cloyster and good luck at the end of the Volcano's second run. I'm sure anyone else who has tried running this category for Pokémon Snap can back me up when I say Cloyster, Arcanine, and Growlithe don't like to appear often in good runs. I plan to re-work this run sometime to fix a few tradeoff's for consistency, but for now this run makes me happy. Source: speeddemosarchi...

Released on June 30th, 1999, Nintendo figured the raging success of the Pokémon franchise would let them get away with developing a non-game that would still sell. The fans proved Nintendo correct as Pokémon Snap sold over 2 and a half million copies worldwide. As young photographer Todd, you help Professor Oak prove his scientific findings by taking photos of Pokémon in a variety of environments while riding the Zero-One buggy. Source: speeddemosarchi...

Nintendo, we want Pokemon snap 2. Open world, different environment, (re)quests from people from town, story, boy or girl?, one camera type only, lots of tools to solve puzzles, YOUR OWN POKEMON COMPANION, and why not, feature all Pokemon ever released. DO IT.

This is the first time I've seen footage or heard audio from POkemon Snap. I used to see and read about the game all the time in mags as a kid, but I never got it or saw in stores and I completely forgot its existence before seeing this vid. With that as context: this game seems *very* ahead of its times. I'm pleasantly reminded more of early Gamecube games like Wind Waker or Warior Ware than the N64 titles I grew up with like OoT or Mario Kart - or for that matter Pokemon Stadium.

You may be right, but i feel like, unless there is a game braking discovery (like, fooding the game with inputs making it forget you have a speed limit or something like that) there will be no way to beat this time, a "perfect route" can only save you so many milliseconds, that it would get really pointless to decide "who's got the best time" and hence "who's the best in the world". don't get me wrong, i enjoyed the video, but i agree with efreeti, there is only so much you can do in this game.

it was just the challenge mode you unlock after you take the last picture of mew (beat the game). it gave you a challenge score to beat for each level. there was no tangible reward for beating each score, you just felt damn good when u took ur completed game back to Blockbuster.

It's all in the execution. The game is really easy to learn and get under 30 minutes in (even 100%) but certain barriers take time, luck and skill. I've improved the any% by almost 100 seconds now, and 100% was considered too luck based to try a run of. Try not to throw away the games potential just because the route is easy to learn, the execution still takes time and skill to get used to, or else I'd have a lot more close competition. Which I'd love to see :D

I honestly find that the growlithe/arcanine thing was just a poor design choice in this otherwise highly intuitive game. Enough apples and pester balls fall into the water during normal gameplay for most people to find all the water mons easily, but those specific lava pools..? I don't get it...

This is really good but I wouldn't call it 100%, you missed "dancing snorlax" in the beach level and "jigglypuff concert" in the cave solid 95% though

I'd love to go, but someone offered 100% once and was shot down. I'd try it myself but I honestly can't make it out there (both time off and money problems).
