The Charizard V jumped up from 120 to 200 (raw) as soon as Brilliant Stars. Lugia is already $190 (raw) and Silver Tempest isn’t even sold out. I found a Lugia V on Facebook MP and I’m picking it up in person for $150 I bet it explodes after Silver Tempest sellout in Pokemon Center

Tournament play at LGS started and so they released 6 cases of TFC per store, probably the last time (until pre holiday reprint) that the cases of lorcana the first chapter are under $1k

What people need to look at is the trend from SM alts. Alot of those alts fell and imo are in a perfect position to start focusing on picking up. Alot of those alts are down 30% or more from their ATH. People are so focused on the hype behind the swsh alts theres not alot of people competing on the SM alts.

im selling all my duplicate slabs. grading the alt art singles i thought maybe wouldn't have a shot at a 10 because they've appreciated. probably should've held some of my ES boxes but i sold them in mid $600s it is what it is

As an investor I recognize any play on Sword Shield singles is likely gone but as a collector i do feel its better to get the cards you want from that era now rather than waiting. Currently in the market for an Umbreon V Alt and Aerodactyl V Alt that I pushed off getting. Kicking myself for not buying sooner. All that said - I have been asking where all the haters are and Alex I have to give you credit - turns out there's a lot of them. Stay strong and keep the quality content coming.

@@patescortez88 As an investment? I would steer away from main set ETBs depending on the set generally and I would not really consider most v boxes an investment. Those are mass printed and tend not to appreciate in price as much or as quickly as say BBs or PC ETBs.

I don’t really buy singles for investments but any thoughts on S&V Japanese singles in PSA10 being so cheap? Appreciate the quality control is way better in Japanese, just curious if you think something like Magikarp art rare might reach something similar to the English version in 5+ years

Unfortunately No. The reason English slabs are worth so much more is becuase they are actually a Challenge to grade. When everything is a 10 basically in Japanese there is no chase which is why the price reflects that.

I am much more bullish on English. Japanese has been in a bubble and that bubble has popped. Historically English outperformed Japanese outside of specialty sets. I would say if I were to invest in Japanese going forward I would stick to specialty sets becuase mainline booster box sets usually have done. Better in English before the last 2 years of the Japanese hype.

Intresting to see the way you reconsile your idea that the top hits of each era will preform well, with also buying the cheap and unpopular SIRs from SV. This is a good way to show the diffrence between cashflow and how big a diffrence it can make. Me personally, I deffently dont have the funds to buy cheap stuff at the floor with the hopes it goes up, and if it doesnt thats fine. I have to be super calculated and make sure every dollar is being put to the absolutle best use, as i really only have about 10k in the hobby right now unfortunatly. Holding anything is a luxury and I have to be really conviced of its upside.

Hard to tell. I will say it does seem the card may be a little over hyped and rose too much and the cases seem safer but you really never know with this market.

I was a fan of investing in it when boxes were 80 to 120 but I am not a fan of investing at 150 to 200 a box which it seems they all are out of the gate. If they ever fix the print rubs to meet demand It could get ugly in my opinion.

I get what you are saying but sun and moon pull rates were horrible and some of the alt arts are still cheaper than the SS alt arts. The SS will come down eventually. If you are making 200 or 300 percent profit it isn't going to hurt. The way to go is buying the SS full art trainers now while low. Buy the new boxes now. Sealed will always perform in the future

The Charizard UPCs have great contents inside, but man, these have been printed into oblivion. I have a sealed case of these, but I just aint too sure about it anymore. Maybe ill hold onto it for another year or 2 and see how they go I guess. Good video man.

You just have to have realistic expectations. I mean i bought these for the 80s about 1 year ago. Thats a 50% increase and even if i sold and took fees and shipping out it would still be a 20%ish+ gain already. Not every play is going to be evolving skies ya no.

Another good take. Nothing is guaranteed in any investing, but there is research and history one can do to make the best plays they see at the current time. No one can deny that it can be successful. Will everyone be successful? No, but you can be if you take the time.

The best play is to buy the current alt arts and boxes at retail and sit on them always. The zard and mew from paldean fates for example.. the modern boxes under 90 like he said. Those things will go up. That's what people should have done with SS alt arts when they came out that moonbeon was 150 bucks. Invest a few months after a set comes out. The market corrects itself and the initial hype dies down. The cards are very affordable. Then they start to rise once the set stops getting printing.

vivid voltage will be the next sleeper set to suddenly "spark" in value Lol...probably not, but who knows what will suddenly be sought after anymore. Amazing rares? Why not!? haha

Sold some fusion and chilling boxes recently and put that money back into paldea evolved boxes and crown zenith. I also plan to sell my alt arts from evolving skies this week, and will sit on the cash for the next S tier set that comes out.

I can't say I agree with that but I hope you do well on them. The pop reports are not as meaningfully as people like to think. If millions want a 10k pop card and only a few thousand want a 100 pop card which will rise?

@@NostalgiaNomics I think the vintage will take off again. Already starting too if you look at some of the best ones from fossil or jungle. Snorlax Gengar Dragonite etc.. fact is packs go for 300-350 unweighed and it's hard to pull one in PSA 9 shape with how the factory cut those cards.. sure the modern stuff gets more exposure now but it's printed wayyyyy more also. People will realize how many of those alt art lugias and giratinas are out there soon enough. Those cards will continue to perform but I think it's more so because the new Scarlet violet series is so terrible and people are falling back on the SS alt arts and sealed. But if I can get a 1st Ed PSA 9 Jolteon for cheaper than a raw giratina still being printed that is the way to go no doubt.

@@NostalgiaNomics and I'm talking middle of the pack WOTC holos too in 1st Ed you can get half the holos from all these older sets already graded mint 9s for 75-150 range each. Incredible value when you consider the pack price and how many pack fresh Holos with print lines white dots or bad centering don't even get 9s out of the pack. Modern cards almost always come out at a mint minimum quality and are being printed at a ridiculous rate with Pokemon being as big as it's ever been

Yeah. Did you hear about the reprint/restock in the UK for the UK physical shops exclusively. It was OP01, 02 and 05, but the boxes are unsealed. Wossyplays touched on it :)
