Thanks for the video. I've started to get burnt out on modern so I'm focusing on buying vintage where I can find good deals. Seeing as a lot of vintage is still relatively affordable I'm not too worried about modern becoming unaffordable. Plus if it does there will always be a new set to collect. I liked collecting PSA 10's but with modern I realized the card condition is basically all the same so I don't see any value in putting a premium on the 10's.

Totally agree with all your points of collecting and investing in modern sets. Keep the great info coming.

I collected fur fun as a kid in 2006-2011 and then got back into the hobby with the start of the scarlet and violet TCG and in the last 8 months I’ve picked up 13 SWSH Booster boxes that’s the route I think will do well

Good points Alex. I have a similar thought process and have been loading up on SWSH. Maybe towards the end of 2024 I'll focus a bit more on Scarlet Violet. I'll also be keeping a close eye on the sales of the next gen of games when they eventually come out. It'll be a very welcome sign if we have numbers fairly similar to that of the SV and SWSH games.

Alex, you and pokemart usa are my go-to channels for the correct mindset needed to invest in Pokemon. Thanks for all your videos.

As a kid I collected through neo destiny, got back into the hobby in 2020, love base through e reader series, love ex era because I played ruby & sapphire game boy games, love sword & shield and S&V. There’s some interesting stuff inbetween ex and sw&sh but for the most part it just does not do it for me, but to each their own!

Ya exactly! I think most people feel that way. There are a lot of cool cards out there but there is only so much money we all have and that money is always going to go after the things we care about more first.

I enjoy these videos not commented for a while! Enjoyed the poke mart USA live stream thought it was brilliant! I do believe the first few years are the toughest! I’ve come out of the first 2 years I’ve got a great amount of most Alt art sets just luckily haven’t got any vivid, darkness ablaze etc, Managed to pick up three charizard UPC for £75 each so got 8 now thanks for all the advice man

.... funds is one half of the situation with sealed product investing/collecting, space can be the other huge hurdle. I am in the latter situation. I have to start selling some of my excess inventory and/or start opening my first pack. Thanks Alex for another great investment advice. 👍

I gotcha. My advice would be to maybe consider leaving some of the products that are bulky but do not have a lot of value like the collection boxes, tins, etc. and maybe condense down to booster boxes. They will take up the least space and have some of the highest values which can help.

I did some test on my last listing..Posted 5 vintage (1999-2000) and post 7, 151 sc/vi cards. Well i sell all 151 and even some cards that r not posted. Modern wins its no scam or' pump it' talks.Not all modern but like u say it-organic love ❤ All best from Croatia ! 😊

I’ve been a modern guy since I love the art work. I grew up when WOTC cards were around. I’ve recently started shifting my modern around for vintage so I could spread my bets but also I got really burnt out on Modern so I feel pretty happy to start getting vintage in my collection PSA8’s + Do you think it’s a bad idea to start trading my modern alt PSA10’s for the high end PSA vintage?

@@NostalgiaNomics that’s what makes it hard going for high end vintage because modern alts have beautiful art works, very hard to pull, and they’re yes still modern. The growth of alts could be huge down the road. I think the SWSH era will be one of the most remembered due to so many people jumping in and the crazy times the world was facing. I feel 10+ years a lot of nostalgia will be from the SWSH era. Just not sure if many people care too much about vintage. To me it’s a scary game. Has vintage capped out or is there still room to grow. That’s the million dollar question.

I reside with everything you said, I stopped collecting right at the start of xy and then picked back up again during champions path. I always regret that I sold my childhood collection as many of us did, but you nailed it with time perception it makes you think why did I stop, great vid

Evolutions might be top. Then you have FlashFire and ancient origins maybe primal clash. Roaring skies was hot for a while in the xy era but not sure now. Steam siege was the worst set of the era. I don't have all the info. Just going off memory

XY era sets that are best in my opinion are Flashfire, Phantom Forces, Ancient Origins, Breakthrough and Evolutions.

I’ve never really had issues trying to figure out where to put my money; HOWEVER, in this specific situation I’m stuck with about $1500 in gift cards and have to use it on this website that has ABSOLUTELY No stock and it’s soooo annoying. So it’s either buy a few of the classic collections or pray that they get a good enough stock of the 151 reprint to where they won’t Jack up the prices.

Nobody wants to talk about how many people are holding sealed modern. Even with 10k pops there are still thousands of sealed products that people are holding. It's nothing like vintage where almost no one was holding sealed. Between print quality and supply, im shifting away from modern. There are exceptions. I think some modern will do really well. There are just too many other better plays than modern pokemon these days.

It doesn't matter... modern cards look better in comparison to vintage ... kids nowadays are exposed to see day to day life of different medias and evolution of it... vintage doesn't look appealing to kids, look how colourful the cards, story behind it with the background, background connecting cards etc ... kids nowadays aren't holding sealed .. 15 years later or so they gonna hit the nostalgia when they make their own money and collect again ... kids nowadays are your future buyers

I mean time will tell... This is just my opinion but Not on board Yugioh, One Piece is great but its so new and still needs to prove it can stand the test of time once the print numbers are raised and reprints come as they always do with Bandai so we will see, and last Vintage.... i mean some may do okay but i just do not see it.
