Pokemon Crystal: Final Battle vs Red with only Johto originals
The hardest battle in Gen 2 and possibly the most famous battle in the franchise beaten with only Pokemon who originated in Johto, no evolutions of Kanto Pokemon either.
No items in battle, set mode and all of my team members were at level 65

I wouldn't have expected a Ledian to be useful for endgame battles someday
Entire team at level 65 with no currently gained exp. Someone's been hitting the rare candies pretty hard.

This theme is one of the most “EPIC” final fight themes in video game history. It doesn’t matter that it’s Pokemon.
Snorlax, Charizard and Blastoise proving why they were Red's true menaces. Zard only lost to a crit and almost took the player's only counter against it, Snorlax chipped almost every mon and Blastoise did well too. I mean, with a proper AI, this task could've been WAY harder then already were

That was tense! And great to watch. Forgot how terrifying that Snorlax was!

A lot of people don't appreciate Gen 2's games and I can understand, looking back.
Thats memories…being a young child exploring this mountain and then seeing this guy standing there. You dont think anything about it and talk to him. SUDDENLY this music starts playing and you get to see his pokemons are around 20 higher than yours. With every attack you are sweating that his pokemon are taking enough damage to fall and yours are withstanding his attacks. Just like the earthquake at the beginning kills the pikachu. Such a relief it was instantly k.o. But its getting worse. At the end you are either traumatised or at the end with your nerves since this battle took all of your energy.

The sounds of moves back then used to sound so devastating that every attack mattered. Just listen to how Solar beam sounds like 😂
I love this battle so much. Still one of my favorite battles in gaming. First time I found red and did this battle I was sweating and the music is just fantastic. Ahhh childhood 🤣
