Poka Yoke in Japan Railways. Point and Speak System
Point and Speak System reduces mistakes by 80%. JR (Japan Railways) practices it vigorously. It is called YUBISASHI KAKUNIN in Japanese. It enables Mistake Poofing and Accuracy Confirmation. It enhances Safety and Precision in Operations. Point and Speak made a big contribution to the ZERO ACCIDENT PERFORMANCE SINCE INCEPTION IN 1964 FOR Shinkansen (Bullet Train) operations. It could also be called Shisa Kanko in Japanese.
the driver is shown in the second part of his video pointing to the time table in front of him. It shows the time that the train must adhere to in reaching and departing from stations.
This video is uploaded and publised on 16 November 2019 to mark the birthday of Mayur Gondhalekar, who captured the action on videos with such clarity. We thank Tanvi Thakkar for putting it together and Amrsha Srivastava for putting the finishing touches.

The muscle memory developed by practising "Point and Speak" daily would avoid the driver from accidently skipping steps detailed in the operating procedure and thus reduce mistakes. Thank you so much ,Sir and team, for such a detailed video..

We could start implementing such techniques in India as it could be beneficial for diverse profile of passengers.However keeping the huge population in mind , applying it to selected transportation systems at first would be more practical.

Also, would point-and-speak be taken as an offense in India? A small technique as basic as it could be, can really save lives! We must really adopt these small things! There is so much to learn.

No offense at all. In fact Indian Railways also have some such poka yoke systems. Only this is that they are designed for technology of 1930s.

Indian Railways do have some very good systems like this. Only thing they are designed for technology level of 1940s.

It is poka yoke. The point ans speak system IS THE poka yoke. It prevents mistakes. The technique has been established scientifically.
