I love that Raifort is just unabashedly an evil person. She tells your class about the treasures of ruin. She recruits a curious student to verify their existence. She instructs this student to release these walking disasters with the barest excuse that it would be nice to free Pokémon trapped so long. Oh, and she only gets a student involved because she is under too much scrutiny from Clavell. Girl wanted to unleash 4 ancient evils and keep them for herself, only letting you keep them "for now" because she's slightly fond of you. It's like she was the villain team leader of a non-existent other game and was ordered to serve as a teacher for community service after her plans were foiled and she's still scheming the whole time.

This makes perfect sense. lol Still, I love that evil woman. Her style, her grace and her personality are great. XD She's definitely unabashedly evil and her telling me about the ruinous Pokemon did feel like she was trying to recruit me as an underling for her secret evil plan. lol Too bad for her, I will never give her the ruinous Pokemon. They were a pain to catch! I even had to use a masterball on Chi-Yu, because that mofo would NOT stay in a ball and I wasted 30 Pokeballs on that fracker! I tried different ones, like the Dusk Ball, Timer Ball, Ultra Ball, even just regular ones and nothing. :'( I really should have used the power of subway! LOL

i kind of feel bad for Grusha, he's kind of the Universe's punching bag. He lost his chance at his dream due to injury, and is expected to be happy to help others achieve theirs, and he was so focused on his career in Snowbording, he feels lost with out it, and the possibility of losing his gym, poor guy needs a hug.

@@galning2768 I'm aware, but there are't any in Paldea. Idk if the gyms were built for the gym leaders or just repurposed for them, but Grusha's is uniquely isolated. Maybe he's still clinging to his dream and struggling with reaching out to people and doesn't want the obsessive and possibly pitying stares of strangera, but it's sad

Could we please add "Vaultin' Veluza!" to Mikey's ever growing list of catchphrases? There's just something about the enthusiasm of him saying it that puts a smile on my face, would be a shame to see it never return.

5:15 I haven't seen anyone mention this before but I caught it in my own playthrough. When the camera pans to Geeta smiling, there's a slight rumbling in the background audio, that goes away when Geeta turns her head to Clavell a few seconds later. I thought it was a nice touch since Geeta is politely telling Penny she doesn't have a choice and the rumbling is her menacing aura lol

Armarouge also uses the armor cannon animation for shadow ball. Maybe all off the ball/sphere/bullet moves that are blocked by the Bulletproof ability use the armor cannon animation?

You know, the gym rematches are interesting because the dialogue swaps from You challenge Gym Leader to a battle to Gym Leader challenges you to a battle. Really swaps the theme for the importance of our character.

Mikey, about the Mycelium Might Spore vs Insomnia interaction, yes Mycelium Might does ignore the Insomnia when Spore is used, it does not ignore the ability’s secondary effect of instantly waking the Pokemon up. In short, yes you can put a Pokemkn with Insomnia to sleep, but Insomnia’s secondary effect will immediately kick in after the fact. Ignoring abilities is different than fully negating them

Penny it's like an odd character, I didn't like her that much but the more she speaks the more I like her. I luckilly was never bullied but I was super introverted and awkward and even with that little you sort of develop certain introspection, I love how she reads the room just right, I really like her.

I feel like Mikey will feel less afraid of brassius and more sad for him when he takes the art class

I think Brassius' thorny whip is actually a small water hose, makes sense considering he's an artist and a gardener Kind of a bummer that once you do the Post campaign stuff the three friends just become static npcs like the rest. Wish each gym leader would have its own special music to make them even more unique, the one that plays usually would probably go best with probably Kofu.

Did you expect the game to add new cutscenes for them every week since the game came out, did you think you'd get to rematch them as many times as you want, you can already do that in the academy ace tournament, just depends on your luck, like how is it a bummer, their stories had to at least be put on hold at some point.

I loved Mikey yelling Burn, also I liked the part when Mikey was so dramatic with the Armor Cannon to the Sudowoodo and then his vibe and Vulcan were killed by Sturdy and Stone Edge

1:50 Actually Sada only died a few minutes before the game started since we meet the box legend right after it loses the territory struggle, where she died, so she really was just a neglectful parent I think.

This may be the finale but there are interesting cutscenes in the school that are worth watching, as much as I enjoy the snow mechanic the saying would be “hail yeah! Snow no!”

If like to see a sequel to these games were Katy is like the 5th gym leader and nemona’s the top champion, arvens the professor, and penny is your homeroom teacher (Pokémon Black and White 2 style)

Katy is forced to be a pushover, Brassius is Brassius, Iono is on that mentally damaging streamer grindset, Kofu is just chilling, Larry is overworked and probably underpaid for it due to three jobs (Gym/E4/Actual job mentioned in dlc), Ryme misses battling with Tyme, Tulip has to stay great or fade away, and Grusha is very depressed due to losing their career as a snowboarder. Jeez, except for Kofu, they all need some therapy. That should be the next generation. Pokemon Therapy and Pokemon Self-help

There are very minor things with this game that I absolutely love. For example, in my rematch with Grusha it wasn't snowing when we went outside, so his line was different.

“This is gonna take some time” he says as he catches the time traveling lizard in a timer ball

I like to see a bonus episode where he goes to all the other classes and does there side stories

Love how grunty boi hasn’t found out about this channel but give him 2-3 months and he will be here to

26:40 Mikey imitating Tsareena’s cry is the highlight of this video.

I love how the Electric Tera hat makes it look like your pokemon just had an idea.

Loved the video! It may be too late, but there are some minor stories involving Arven, Nemona, and Penny in the post game that I would to see reactions to - small epilogues for them all similar to befriending teachers.

1:38:09 Imagine if next gen, they actually added a 5th moveslot. That would be really interesting to see how it shakes up competitive since that gives you an extra slot for coverage.

Mycelium Might worked as intended. It ignores abilities upon use, which means a pokemon that wouldn't be affected at first takes the effect. So that's why Bannete was affected at first, but Insomnia specifically works in that when it was reapplied after the move, the pokemon would instantly wake up because it's in battle.

Yeah, abilities like insomnia, limber, etc. kinda need to still work bc they'd just be even less viable than they already are otherwise. But mycellium might ignoring abilities like Magic Bounce, Magic Guard, Good as Gold, etc. is huge for a pokemon that gets access to moves like leech Seed and Spore if you think about it.

I love on how Mikey made a snow leopard, moose, orca/killer whale and fire/grass type Pokémon and in Paldea the was a moose and snow leopard as legendaries and there was a whale and dolphin Pokémon(orcas are the biggest type of dolphins but are called whales)and there was a fire/grass type, so in conclusion Mikey predicted some of Gen-9’s Pokémon.

I know it won't happen, but I would love to see his reaction to all the post game rival stories (Specifically Arven, his self help journey was very sweet)

It actually blew my mind. I used a quick ball on Koraidon and caught it. i set my controller down and walked away. I genuinely didn't believe that i got the quick ball capture first try.

Hey Mikey i just want to say this is probably my favourite pokemon playthrough that I've probably ever watched in the close to 15 years I've been using youtube so thanks for that. I really love the long form content and am hoping you make more of it in the future

Had my Cryogonal Kelvin (Champion of Paldea) on this last Geeta match, and at that Kingambit I thought "ehh why not? Sheer cold". It was the first time in the game it landed.

Finally someone that agrees with me. Penny IS super relatable PS I like that she uses eeveelutions . She's the type of person to use Pokémon that she likes. She legit has my dream team

This series has been an amazing series + helped me out on my scarlet playthrough.

Ryme's hair in the from is a skeleton arm, yes. Her hair in the back, however, includes one segment styled like a spine and pelvis. Seen lots of people notice the former and miss the latter.

56:20 mycelium might only bypasses abilities that directly cancel status moves. Technically insomnia doesn’t “cancel” using spore, it just reverses the sleep once it’s put on.

The penny line about anime is too relatable and funny I’m deing seriously I can’t breathe

Mycelium Might is already a pretty overpowered ability being able to circumvent abilities like Magic Bounce, Clear Body, Soundproof, and most importantly, Good as Gold. The reason it fails to completely bypass abilities like Insomnia, Limber, Oblivious etc. is because Mycelium Might only ignores the opponent's ability for the execution of that move, it doesn't completely override the target's ability. The reason it can bypass Good as Gold, is because that ability makes them immune to status moves, not status effects and once Mycelium Might has bypassed it, and landed a move, Good as Gold can't do anything about it.

The story and rivals in this game are just the best

Hi Michael! Been subscribed to you for a while, but this is the first time ive watched a brand new playthrough of yours from start to finish, and I gotta say I loved this format! I played Violet so much and seeing you experience it as well (ups and downs) was really awesome and you just have an awesome personality. I think my favorite part about the treasures of ruin isn't even "these things caused a lot of destruction - go free them!" It's "hey, wouldn't it be nice to free them from their tiny shrines and put them in ting balls like 1000 times smaller?"

Toadscruels ability did fully work, it's just that insomnia only takes effect AFTER the pokemon falls asleep, so the ability wasn't even used, insomnia just acts afterwards instead of beforehand( like the ability shed skin)
