That was great, Scott, thanks. Just to clarify, I think the best text is indeed in the Abacus editions of 'The Glamour' and the US first hardcover. I asked Chris about this and he said that when he sold the book to the US publisher, they wanted textual changes to the final chapter and he did this, meaning that only the UK Cape hardcover has the original text, so anyone with a US hardcover is 'safe'. He revised the book thus creating a third variant when he moved to Simon & Schuster and revised it again when he settled with Gollancz, so the current Gollancz edition is the fourth edition of the text. I've read it many times and feel strongly that the second edition text (abacus UK and US hardcover first) are superior. If you haven't read his amazing story "The Miraculous Cairn" - which was in 'New Horrors 2' (Pan) and 'Granta Best of Young British Novelists' (the first one circa 81), do so, as it's incredible- there is a revised (and again not so strong version) in 'The Dream Archipelago' I seem to recall. Great tribute, my friend, thanks for that- and I agree that 'The Quiet Woman' and 'The Affirmation' are total classics as well. RIP, Chris.

This is great and useful info, Stephen. Would you mind copying and pasting on my Facebook post? I don't mind doing it myself if you don't mind. Thanks again. I do recall hearing from Clutes and Helen (and Chris) that Priest had lots of pointless adventures himself just getting his proper texts in print! s

I loved Inverted World and I remember thinking all the way through it how interesting it was even though I couldn't quite get a grip on what was going on -- ? -- This sticks in my mind because I don't recall ever feeling similarly about anything else I had read. thankyoumaskman, FjB

Yeah it was pretty good I just kind of got lost when the girls started getting huge and horny and the exposition started to confuse me. (I'm easily confused.) I'll probably try it again once I've caught up with Priest's late novels... s

Thanks, Bob “Bathing Buddy” Black! Yeah The Islanders is really good, but if you find an old Abacus paperback of The Glamour, take it on a plane trip and tell me what you think! Stay safe and don’t read US news online! We are watching! S

Christopher priest is a relatively recent read for me , I’ve started right at the beginning with indoctrinaire and I’m reading his books in chronological order . I’ve been so taken with his writing that I’ve acquired all but his last two books (I think)? in little more than a year . Thanks for this video very interesting please keep them coming . Always enjoy watching👍🏻

Thanks as always for the Mojo, Mojo. I liked Indoctrinaire too, weird book. I wanted to read the novels chronologically but may jump around a bit. GLAMOUR is great! s

Scott the reader of scifi, fantasy and the absurd…yet not a fan of the surreal … magical realism perhaps in the 🛁? Or is that a flub in your tub?
