Pointe Shoes preparation in 10 steps with Professional ballet dancer - included my darning technique

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi viewers, friends, aspiring dancers or lovers of the art form,
I am back with a Pointe Shoes preparation video.
Here I share with you how I personally customise my shoes as a professional dancer!
(I wear a special pair of Bloch)
I am sure you will find some steps of the way helpful and others might not fit your personal preparation, nonetheless I think you can still get inspired on how to make your shoe fit better to your foot.
If you are just starting with pointe work and you feel a bit lost at first, start with the basic steps, like sewing ribbons and elastics, then you can get started with the Darning (step 5), which is a wonderful trick to make the shoes more stable, but it takes some time to get the technique (spoiler: I will be making a darning video too❗️)
As I mention in the video, some steps of the way can be skipped, if you are not a professional dancer and you have limited access to pointe shoes. For example the “slicing” of the outer sole (step 9) might soften the shoes quicker and if you are a student, your teacher might also not like the look. Have fun discovering my way of sewing the pointe shoes!
Let me know if you have any questions or wishes! ❤️✨🩰📩
See you in the future,
All the best,
Giulia

Omg, that’s such a long preparation! It would be great indeed if the point shoe companies were preparing that personalized already! But it also must be very relaxing and meditative to do this work :)

Hi Jennifer, thank you for you kind words!! ✨ The elastic ribbons I use are from Pro Danse, shop in Germany, they are called “extension ribbon by Angelo Luzio - stretch ribbon 51” , and it’s a 50 meters roll. Here the link : prodanse-shop.de/Style51

Why dont point shoe company make them already prepared. It seems every ballerina has to break and redo the shoe???

Hi there! It would be wonderful if they would arrive almost ready to wear!!! 😍 but, I explain it in the last part of the video, pointe shoes brands don’t do the work 1. Because every dancer has very specific preferences, where to place the elastic for example, even though pointe shoes companies could learn. 2 . I think it’s an extra cost and so much more specific work (handmade) that brands don’t want to take. So parts can’t be done with machines and also the pointe shoes companies would have to collaborate with other producers, elastics, ribbons… so I think they prefer to keep it that way…

It’s just not realistic to make customized shoes for that many dancers worldwide. The fact that some dancers go through a pointe shoe a day, it’s impossible to keep up with that.
