With the latest revelation that in 3.19 the monsters from Beyond are going to be replaced by monsters from Scourge it seems you hit the nail on the head with the lore.

The cloaked figure is old Alva. Alva is a living Vaal Orb and eventually krangled reality too much and opened a portal to the Beyond where Atziri and the Vaal went, but instead of going there, she brought them in. That's why there is time travel and why the vessel is fueled by blood (like Vaal skill gems), and the focus in corrupting gear.

Her sword/foil is literally the same! Maybe she F-ed up something earlier with her temporal blood magic and created a new timeline. Also the Crucible looks very vaal-ish in design...

She also uses blood to time travel, so alternate reality or future Alva could have figured out reality shifting on top of time traveling blood technology! They very conspicuously did not mention the NPCs name! The only thing is that our-time Alva will still be around from Incursion 🤔

The Innocent = Oriathans worship Innocence, Ravenous = Kitava, Hungry Boi, The Demon div card drops from Kitava. Could just be an alternate reality where the Exile failed to stop Kitava and his cultists became demonic and overran everything.

I think this is correct. The scourge terrain features (e.g. horns) look exactly like Kitava horns. Also, all Kitava related monsters are in both our and the other reality.

Tl;dw: Beyond: you're locked in here with us! Scourge: I'm not locked in here with you, you're trapped in there with me!!!

Welp. In the new 'Lake of Kalandra' PoE expansion in August 2022, Beyond content will now spawn Scourge monsters, instead of the old Beyond monsters.

In a stunning twist, it turns out that the scourge demons are actually warp demons and the realm you travel to is Khorne's. You have been working for Chaos all along. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

Love the presentation! I believe that is the case because Chris Wilson already said he didn't like beyond, and that if he could do a league 2.0 that was the one he would do. Fast foward to 3.16, expedition will take perandus place officially. The precedent being set, I believe they will try to substitue beyond in 3.17, as both have a lot of mechanical overlap... And blood, lots of it.

Damn, it now makes sense why perandus was replaced with expedition. Both of them are the same at the core. You farm it's own currency to barter with for itmes and stuff. Expedition is just perandus 2.0 tbh.

The only evidence I need for scourge to be beyond is the fact that ggg is openly reworking old bad expansions into newer updated versions of it, the mask is down, chris literally said expedition does everything perandus did but better, and more. And now perandus is out and expedition is core

Are we the Beyond in this league? Is Haast just minding his own business, farming his first Headhunter, before we pop up and say 'hello'.

I hope this means improved synthesis is finally coming back

They could also be the monsters from breach. This past league they added a realy interesting item. The grasping mail. And the flavour of this item informs us : the time approaches...... (The time of the dreamer, chayula who dreamt.) It would also introduce the possibility of "it that fled" being connected to this woman.

Also the Last to Die mentions that there is one Wraeclast that withstood the tide of Scourge, and that one is ruled by none other but High Templar Venarius. I questioned at first, why would she mention said timeline of Wraeclast if we have no chance of getting in there to meet and fight Venarius. Turns out, because we already did.

Less of a lore theory, but I was just assuming that beyond was gonna get the boot next league and be replaced by scourge, other theory was they're gonna do a betrayal league style set up where next end game will be related to beyond/harby/eldrich beings mosh pit

Great catch with Wilson's BEYOND. I was too distracted by the flashing lights to hear anything they said in the reveal. And I also assumed "the future" though they clearly stated "parallel" Wraeclast, I blame all the weird movies...

I think this traveler is Zana from that wraeclast dominated by the scourge. And on the reveal chris said(more implied) that is a woman, and the weapon is quite similar to a rapier, which is zana's weapon.

I'm inclined to believe it's Alva as well as the others are saying. Keep in mind Alva's weapon is a long, thin, one handed sword as well. If this is related to the Vaal, blood sacrifice, corruption, and dimension bending, that sounds Alva and someone opening one too many Locus's Of Corruption temples. Keep in mind we also know Alva has some control over time as well, so it makes sense for her to know specifically when they're going to start showing up in "our" Wraeclast. I think this is an Alva that's seen some shit.

I mean aren't we kind of the beyond monsters from the scourges perspective? You're on your way to work and BAM, through a dimensional rift a lone being powered by blood wearing a belt of skulls frags a whole city block.

Blood Magic is so powerful in the world of PoE that they are literally world altering/destroying damn..

I think you are right, KCN, but I am more intrigued by the mirrored nature of the two leagues. In Beyond, it is almost like the Demons have Crucibles--and the Crucible, BTW, almost looks like the base of a Beyond portal--and the blood spilled in this reality pulls them across. In Scourge, the Crucible collects the blood (preventing it from calling Beyond demons) and allows us to shift into their reality, in a mirror of what the Beyond demons do. I also like the theory below that the NPC that gives us the Crucible is a future-Alva. One thing not explained in your theory is why the Blood Crucible Corrupts the items it affects. That points more to the Vaal than Beyond, though I guess we should note that we never found out where Atziri went, did we?

Could be a build up to the reveal of the being known as chaos. Seeing the devastation it causes in different realities. I do love the theory that it's Alva who is the mysterious stranger tho.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the theory that The Last to Die is Alva. I just found out they have the same voice actor, which adds to the conspiracy. Also, with the revelation that Zana may be gone (Kirac mods), there are theories going on that all masters die in the Siege of the Atlas. What do you think?

I think it may have e conection with the Vaal becose the blood + corruption theme or at least to how there thaumatugy works. Also ritual are powered by blood. Edit: and bestiary crafting, I think.

They said that the league replacing Perandus will be Expedition, not Scourge. Maybe if Scourge goes core in 3.17 it will replace Beyond, so this theory might be correct.

What happens then if we open Beyond portals in the alternate reality (I assume that it is possible since we also can open Breaches for example). So monsters from our Wraeclast enter the "Scourge" Wraeclast? And if we can't open those portals in the other reality, it's even more proof of your theory!

Seeing people's posts about it, I definitely think that's possible. She used blood magic to time travel to mess with the Vaal temple, so maybe older Alva has time travel AND reality shifting blood magic

Also, Sirius says the following lines: "I have seen beyond" and "Beyond, there is only horror." After a while I assumed he was talking about the Elder and (potentially) Maven realms. But now there's the possibility he's talking about these demons. Also that poses some questions, like might the Maven and Elder be from that demon realm; or they might be able to travel through multiple realities (this seems more plausible). Finally, one last line from Sirius: "There is nothing left for me here. For a few brief days, destroying something real may make me feel alive again." Assuming the 'beyond' Sirius is talking about is the demons' realm, that could indicate he thought that reality was not real (but then again he could just be talking about the atlas). Great video Noodle, love your insights. =}

I hope they will not replace Beyond with Scourge. Beyond is a simple, non-invasive design. Scourge is much bigger, so there will be problems when integrating into the core Also, I hate time-gated content, which is (again) a new league, the exact opposite of Beyond

This tin foil talk is crazy lmao... The Last to Die ain't Alva, the Scourge ain't the Beyond monster, nor they are Kitava... The Last to Die's universe was lost to some demons and she managed to escape to another, opening the multiverse. Sadly, the scourge followed and she kept travelling trying to find a way to stop them. The only one were humans won is where Templar Venarius rules over so you know it ain't really better.
