Shingles soapbox: My mother had shingles before the antiviral was commonplace. She had in her doctor's words 'the worst case he'd ever seen'. She had postherpetic neuralgia. For the rest of her life she could only wear certain fabrics, couldn't be touched in that area, couldn't sleep on that side. Tried TENS, nerve blocks, acupuncture, everything short of addictive painkillers. Had to switch to an office job because she couldn't physically do her usual work. When we went anywhere we flanked her to block accidental contact. A simple bump in a crowd would cause her to cry out in pain. I'd hear her sobbing when she thought she was out of earshot and my mother was tough. If you can get the vaccine, do so. If you can't or choose not to, be aware of what shingles feels like and if you think you have it, get to the doctor without delay. Educate and monitor older relatives and friends Antivirals help immensely. She died with that awful pain. Spare yourself and those you love that agony.

I’m so sorry your mom experienced that extremely painful aftereffect. I’ve had shingles three times and was fortunate enough to go to the doctor the first day of the rash. The other two times I went for treatment when it was barely muscle soreness and tenderness. Even so, healing seemed slower and nerve pain increased each time. Shingles is no joke.

Vaccines have done wonderful and horrible things. I hope that Dr Gregor will look into the industry meddling in the outcome studies. He needs to be as skeptical of vaccine schedules as he is of the food pyramid. Even better, I’d like to see him have a discussion with vaccine-cautious MDs and PhDs.

I am curious about Dr Gregor’s thoughts on the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Act? Isn’t it interesting that pharmaceutical companies have 100% immunity from financial liability if their product injures or unalives someone? Same with the doctor, pharmacist, nurse or whomever injected it. I am also curious about his take on the lack of studies for safety in the last 35 years and that they do not use a real placebo to test a new vaccine. I am curious as to why he claims to be vegan but thinks it is ok to inject animal products as part of a vaccine. I am also curious about his take on the lack of testing on combo vax and how more and more vax are being added to the child and adult schedules without testing for safety on how many are being given within a certain period of time. I will not stand in judgement for your seeming bias and ignorance on these issues but it is difficult to take everything else you say at face value and especially since I heard you basically making fun of those of us whom you deem “anti vax” on one podcast. Please be willing to take a look from a neutral standpoint and not just from what you were taught by the pharmaceutical companies in charge of your medical training.

I would think that the majority of viewers would be eating a whole food plant based diet. With that in mind they would be less likely to be susceptible to the infections these vaccines are designed to prevent. For instance a study of diet on the Covid infection was shown that those who are mostly plants were 70% less likely to contact the illness. ( the percentage was from memory. It may not be exact.) if our immune systems are much stronger, how effective would the vaccines be on us? That is what I would like to learn. But I’m sure the tests of this would not be done.

I listed to this until you said that smallpox was eradicated by vaccines. That assertion is fundamentally false by the time vaccines came on the scene small pox was nearly wiped out by the use of proper hygiene and sanitation. In fact in most cases proper hygiene and sanitation are more effective against the spread of disease that vaccinations by an order of magnitude. Now when i got bit by a feral cat i went and got the rabies vaccination and tx series because proper hygiene and sanitation do notr stop the spread of rabies but not getting bit by a wild animal does wonders to prevent its spread. So in that case getting a vaccination does make some sense. If i am traveling to a place that has poor hygiene and sanitation then a small pox vaccine might make sense or it might make better sense to avoid travel to such places. Continuing to vaccinate people with small pox in areas where theres no cause for conecern, in a place with proper hygiene and sanitation is just giving money needlessly to big pharma.

"Virus Mania" was written by a random Dutch "freelance journalist" and a German "specialist of internal diseases," both of whom have little to no online footprint outside of this SELF-published book from 2007. (Oh, and co-author Kohnlein in an interview on a German conspiracy theory website, KenFM, claiming covid was a non-issue in April 2020.) Anyone can pay to self-publish, and you *don't* have to pay for good editing or fact-checking in the process. Engelbrecht's bio mentions that he has written articles for Medical Hypotheses, which sounds like a medical journal but is NOT peer-reviewed and is best known for AIDS denialism. None of this suggests quality information. At best, these two are crackpot conspiracy theorists who paid to self-publish their anxieties. At worst, they're scam artists capitalizing on fear. Whichever the case may be, they are not a quality source.
