When people think they are smarter than evil, it never works in your favor

In this interview I noticed things about his mindset that unfortunately seemed to play a role in how he lost his life. He talked about how he felt compelled to "touch the hood" wherever he went. And wanting people in the hood to know he came from the trenches, and he's still just like them. But unlike him, a lot them feel like they have nothing to lose, and success puts a target on your back. It reminded me of Marlo's last scene in The Wire when he approached those two kids on the block and asked, "you know who I am?" There was a struggle and Marlo came out on top, but the takeaway was that the streets have a short memory. Once you make it out you can't just pop in for a visit trying to pick up where you left off.

The rich African-American male was wearing a neck full of jewelry and a nice watch. My barber was putting emphasis on how nice jewelry was. I told him that I was not impressed.
