PLUMS & PLUOTS Guide & Tour @ Cloverfield Farm + Essential Tips on Growing your Own Plums/Pluots

Ойын-сауық

This video is recorded at Cloverfield Organic Pick-it-Yourself Farm in El Sobrante, Northern California Bay Area (we apologize for the poor sound quality, as the weather was quite windy). The video is updating all the fans and followers of the farm on what is going on at the farm's orchard in June-July, particularly with the plums and pluots fruit trees. And - ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LEARN HOW TO START GROWING HEALTHY PLUM/PLUOT TREE(S) IN THEIR BACK YARD SHOULD WATCH THIS VIDEO. Susan, the owner and the driving force behind the farm, shares a wealth of knowledge on this topic, covering such questions as:
- how to choose a good spot for growing your future tree;
- what to look for when choosing the right variety for your particular climate/ag zone;
- why you can grow Japanese varieties of plums/pluots for fresh fruit in certain agricultural zones and European varieties (best for makinging jams, pies and prunes) in other ag zones;
- what is the difference between growing your plum/pluot tree from a bare root stock or from a pit of an actual fruit (from a seed);
- how to grow a smaller tree if you have a limited space.
We hope this video will inspire you to visit the farm if you live not far from it, and/or to grow plum/pluot trees yourself in your back yard.

    Wow, I never knew a Pluot was a cross breed of a plum and an apricot. Have you ever turned it into wine made with honey as the sugar that turns it to alcohol. Or even healthier turning it into Kumbachi ... Very informative and entertaining! What's in the pike for next week?!!!

    I never made plum wine, but I tried a very good Eastern European plum brandy - Slivovitza ("sliva" is "plum" in Russian and probably some other Slavic languages). I have my potato harvesting video scheduled for the next week
