Im so grateful to plini and my friend who passed away for turning me onto them 🥹🥹 his favorite bands were the most advanced hands down and I miss his insightful intuition so much but this takes me back to my fond memories with him 😭
I love the fact he is not an 'ego' player. He can shred but chooses only to do it when the music calls for it, not a session of 'hey look at me I can do this forever'.
@BurntMcgurnt

Ya but he writes the music meaning he can call for it at any time hahah
My daughter who is four years old is named Emberlyn. It’s almost her birthday where she will be five. We also call her Ember for short. She was born without a roof in her mouth, she is fixed up now but has a hard time speaking. This song will be her birthday song from my favorite band as it expresses her clearly. ❤️ thank you guys for everything you do. Longevity for you and for my child.

Taking salt + charcoal, electric sunrise, I'll tell you someday, maturing the tones, phrasing, songwriting and improving with each release. Being a Plini fan is pure elation.
Plini has a mission on earth, to make us dream 🔥
Right when you think there's going to be a break, the music fakes you and keeps bopping along. I gotta say on my first listen I didn't expect most of the the quiet drops or pieces when the music slowed its pace. It's like i'm on a rollercoaster but I don't know when the curves are coming because I'm so into the experience and the thrill, then they appear in front of you suddenly and the difference is welcomed even more! The drops/rests feel so satisfying when they hit.
Sounds like he is establishing musical themes now. That is clearly a new interpretation of "Salt + Charcoal" i can hear in the climax. I love it!

3:58 the drum and bass rhythm (and maybe also the bass notes) is that same chuuug chug chuuug chug chuuug chug chuug chuug chuuug. Note the amount of "u"s in each chug. I can't actually figure out the time signature(s) there but it's in 3/4 right before
@FindingsOfAnArmouredMind
7 ай бұрын
mikel5163 yeah but that doesn't count cause they're all part of one single trilogy of EPs (known as the "Things" trilogy). No other album after this has done a call back to an unrelated past album. Maybe the song Kind (which, quite unintentionally, did a call back to Other Things) and Handmade Cities (whose motif is hidden in 3 more songs: Electric Sunrise, And Here We Are Again and Cascade, but they're all from the same album).
3:44 that run is just too good. too perfect

This is what it feels like when your charmander uses ember on an oddish
plini is so underrated hes a god amounts us mortal players
I just got home from the concert, having heard this song for the first time live. And what a privilege that is, as here I listen to it, stuck on repeat, with a sudden ineffable outpour of emotion. Thank you Plini, for your incredible music, and thank you for making the trip to Seattle. Your work is my largest inspiration. I remember the first Plini song I heard was Heart, and the only albums at the time were the "Things" EPs. I always appreciated all the little recurring motifs and how self-referential that "album" was, and I'm so excited to see that present itself in this track as well. The Irish inspired section was such a fun surprise and to hear that layered into a reworked version of Salt + Charcoal was just incredible. Salt + Charcoal is probably my favorite Plini song because I hadn't ever even considered there could be such a thing as a septuplet before hearing it, and it basically made a whole new world available to me rhythmically. And what more could a drummer ask for?
Love the new music. Especially the hint of "Salt + Charcoal" at the very end. It does take a little charcoal to make an ember😉🔥

We all can agree everything associated with Plini is so aesthetically pleasing ....
I wish I had the intelligent words to express how this song makes me think and feel. So warm, fun, sincere, heavy, light, sophisticated. Idk man, but you should sell a plain Plini sweater like the one you're wearing but with a moon embroidered or sewn into the pattern.
What brilliant about this song is that he has mastered himself. We can hear all the technique that he's built over the years. And If you pay close attention its honestly so many different Plini songs combined into one which is so cool. Fucking epic playing

You are easily my favourite modern guitarist by a long shot. Just about every track you've dropped has me grinning and bobbing my head along like a fool, and even your older stuff that I've listened to countless times by now still feels as fresh now as it did upon my first listen. Never stop creating these absolute bangers!
