Love your podcast girls! 🥰 your chat is so lively and interesting, just because of the way you interact with each other and of course the fact that there are two of you. Your love of knitting, design and yarn shines through, as does your friendship - You are great company! Many congratulations Paige, on passing your exams! Looking forward to those complicated and stunning Japanese designs you’ll be creating now that the exam pressure is off! Sarah, having knit jumpers for my grandchildren recently I’ve learned that a couple of buttons along the shoulder or raglan line are hugely appreciated by both baby and parent 🥴 hope your gorgeous pink Monday junior sweater works out ok. So much of my feed is full of folks overseas and while I enjoy their content, it's nice to see people experiencing the same weather as me (and the same random heat waves!) and planning for the same upcoming seasons. I also love that you recommend local yarns and local yarn shops. I love chatting about the progress and process. FOs are great, but I like knowing how the experience is going! And video length doesn't bother me - sometimes the longer the better so I don't need to find something else to watch for a while 😆

As a fellow hater of tubular cast on with a million stitches, allow my to plug my favourite thing: you can get a tubular cast on by casting on half the amount of stitches you need with a crochet provisional cast on, then doing a yarn over before knitting each stitch on the first row/round, and then doing four rows/rounds of double knitting! There are a few tutorials online, but I believe I watched Roxanne Richardson’s youtube video for it 😊

Congrats Paige! Re the Japanese pattern, it is unfortunately the norm for Japanese patterns to only offer one size for patterns, it’s the same for sewing patterns too 😅 I guess maybe because the schematics are so clear perhaps people can figure out how to increase if they needed to. But yeah very normal 😂 By the way I just wanted to say that Japanese needle sizes are different to US sizes so just be aware that if it only says “3号” or something that’s the Japanese needle size, rather than 3.00mm. Looking forward to seeing the finished object! It looks great so far 😊

Congratulations Paige!! I’m sure it’s such a relief to be finished with exams. I told my mom last video that you guys were doctors and she was like wow they’re so cool! 😂 That Monday sweater yarn combo is stunning. And I feel you on the gift knitting versus knitting for self. I’ve been working at getting better at setting boundaries/speaking up about prioritizing the projects I want to make and not just all gifts all the time. I’ve never had hot cross buns but I want to try. I also just saw a post on IG about them like an hour ago so what a coincidence! Every time I hear the phrase hot cross buns I start singing in my head this song that’s meant to help children learn to play the piano😅 I don’t mind shorter videos even if there’s not a ton of FO’s. I’m just happy to see you two get together and be chatty. I’m also learning to appreciate the process a bit more instead of rushing to the finish line and with that means enjoy a WIP while it’s a WIP. Feel free to record whatever you want and I’ll be here to watch!

Congratulations Paige! 👏🥳 Enjoy your ribbon vest!! And Sarah I love the look of your sweater so far with the Poppy yarn 😍 as for all the ends to weave in, for a future time, did you try to weave in the ends as you go? (for example with the "weave in Steven" technique? I've been doing this since I discovered it and it's quite satisfying). As others commented, I don't care if you have finished objects or not, I like as much discovering your WIPs or your new yarns or just hearing you two talk! 😊

Mmm, i normally just use oil-based spreads but for hot cross buns I break out the butter and lay it on thick. Bliss.

How do you predict what a yarn's drape will be before you knit with it? Confused about how to choose appropriate yarn for my projects

Hmm it's a good question, and not sure what the answer is or how to attempt to answer. I think the amount of recoil a strand of yarn has when you pull it gently from two ends gives a good sense of bounciness. The less bouncy the more drapey. Then I spose you can lean into that by knitting on larger needles to enhance the drapey-ness. I think I just chose yarn I like and then swatch to see how it looks and if I like it I'll go for it? Hope that makes sense.

@twopurlsinapod thanks for your help, that makes sense! I dread gauge swatching, but if it means being able to predict fabric drape it *might* be worth it 🤣
