Plein Air Painting: The Cottonwoods
Everyday I see these old cottonwoods on the hill behind our house. Today was the day to go paint them.

One day I’d like to be one of the sticks you choose to illustrate your point

I love trees and like to see them represented like this almost as sculptural. Thanks for the lesson
Trees are my nemesis! Yours are bliss. ❤
So glad I found your youtubes! Probably not good for you but would love to know more about your color mixing! Thqnk you so much for sharing your incredible talent with us!
Wonderful painter
I just found this thanks for a FB posting. I really enjoyed seeing you work. I'll be catching up on some of the other demos. Thank you for sharing.

neal vinson thank you, Dad!
Putting the fence in was a good idea. Sometimes it just looks too sweet in a painting. But in this case it shows just how huge that tree is. It’s a good reference.

thank you, Kathy. I was glad I put that fence in
Really enjoyed your commentary as you painted. I fall victim to making my work too precious....I like this one a lot...I certainly would hang it in my home. Lifelong love affair with Cottonwoods.

thank you, Lucy. Getting too precious is something we all have to be careful of! And I'd be happy to offer this one as is at a "demo price" if you're interested. just send me an email: turnervinsonfineart@gmail.com thanks for the kind words!

I just love the way you paint ,I paint to tight and I get so frustrated I can’t get past trying to make everything look like a photo.

thank you, Debra. It's all about what your goals and desires are. There's no issue painting carefully with lots of detail if that's your goal! But I do meet a lot of folks wishing to loosen up. It can be a challenge to let go.
Good
New subscriber enjoying your videos Turner. Along with the paintings and naration, I like the clarity. Is that a lavalier mic you use when painting.. sounds clear.. wondering what brand or model it is? A wave of the brush from Australia mate!

Thank Leith, just seeing your comment! For the demos where I'm talking my way through I am using a lavalier mic. Just recently it seems to going out though. It's actually a super cheap mic off Amazon, but it's worked well for many years. Likely getting something new soon though
great video, loved the parts where zoomed out and zoomed in to explain stuff. Who is/was your teacher?
