Germany’s vaccination board STIKO ständige Impfkomission, Standing commission for vaccination
www.rki.de/DE/Content/Infekt/...
Now recommends aspiration
The vaccine is to be injected only intramuscular (i.m.),
and in no case intradermal, subcutaneous, or intravenous.
In animal models, direct intravenous injection of an mRNA vaccine has led to Myopericarditis (both clinically and histopathologically).
Although inadvertent intravenous injections are rare during application of intramuscular vaccines,
aspiration of the needle is a sensible precaution when vaccinating against COVID-19 and can lead to increased safety.
Ferdinand, thank you
Denmark
en.ssi.dk/news/epi-news/2021/...
Basically, we need to change the vaccine administration guidelines to include precautionary aspiration, prior to pushing in the vaccine. This will prevent cases of inadvertent intravascular administration of vaccine.
Here is some discussion to suggest inadvertent intravascular vaccine administration is a variable in the aetiology of complications after adenoviral vector vaccine administration and after mRNA vaccines.
These adverse events, although rare have reduced public confidence in covid vaccination, especially amongst the young, where vaccine rates are lowest.
It has long been known that intravenous injection of adenovirus leads to TTS in mice
ashpublications.org/blood/art...
Now, new covid vaccine specific work agrees with this previous work
Thrombocytopenia and splenic platelet directed immune responses after intravenous ChAdOx1 nCov-19 administration (29th June 2021)
www.biorxiv.org/content/10.11...
The authors conclude, ‘Our work contributes to the understanding of TTS and highlights accidental intravenous injection as potential mechanism for post-vaccination TTS.’
‘We show that intravenous but not intramuscular injection of ChAdOx1 triggers platelet-adenovirus aggregate formation and platelet activation.’
‘Hence, safe intramuscular injection, with aspiration prior to injection, could be a potential preventive measure when administering adenovirus-based vaccines.’
Also after giving mRNA vaccines
A new study finds that giving mice intravenous mRNA vaccine also causes heart inflammation in mice.
Intravenous Injection of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) mRNA Vaccine Can Induce Acute Myopericarditis in Mouse Model (August 2021)
academic.oup.com/cid/advance-...
‘Our study indicates that IV injection of vaccines might partially contribute to this clinical phenotype, thus warranting a reconsideration of the practice of IM injection without aspiration, which carries the risk of inadvertent IV injection.’
Agreement from ‘fact check’ from Leo Nicolai, Cardiology Fellow, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich:
(German Centre for Cardiovascular Research)
healthfeedback.org/claimrevie...
‘Indeed, there is peer-reviewed work showing in mice that possibly intravenous injection of mRNA vaccine leads to myocardial inflammation.’
‘that intravenous injection of adenoviral vector based vaccine (AZ1222, ChAdOx1) leads to thrombocytopenia and platelet-directed immune responses, offering a possible explanation for vaccine-induced thrombosis/thrombocytopenia’
‘these data might indicate a simple measure to lower the incidence of vaccine-induced side effects,’
‘There is a lack of data on frequency and effects of IV injection in humans.’
Denmark has changed their national guidelines
en.ssi.dk/news/epi-news/2021/...

@SplayMnBoss Heavy metals include lead, mercery, cadmium, arsenic, copper and a few others, but none of the vaccines contain any of those substances. And its just false claiming that nanobots or luciferase is in the vaccine lmao. Even if luciferase was in it, it isn't toxic to humans. Lastly, the safety data sheet for sm102 that people are using to say it is causing harm is a 90% chloroform/10% sm102 solution with any harm related to the chloroform. Lipid nanoparticles are already within the body anyway and it is the carbon based nanoparticles that are associated with toxicity, not lipids found in the vaccine. Of the listed ingredients you claim, i'd say nanobots would be the most absurd and im not sure where you got this info, but unfortunately there are no nanobots in any of the vaccines.

My wife instantly said she tasted metallic in her mouth and started to lose her site. The doctor stopped and drew back on the needle, and blood came into the needle. She said is wasn't a big deal. Basic practice for me is to always aspirate before injection of local anesthetics. Muscle memory, just do it always. Bad practice IMHO from the doctor. However, IV local anesthetics do not cause blood clots in the lungs. IF she ended up sedentary prior to the blood clot due to symptoms of local anesthetic toxicity due to the IV injection, then there might be a connection. But by themselves, I do not recall, and to be sure I did a quick literary search, there being any connections to clotting events directly. If she was bedbound for a time before the clot due to toxicity effects, yes, otherwise as they said, unrelated. Still just bad practice to not aspirate always...

I told her why and she said “no, I did it!” (I have to mention I’m a IMG doctor living in the UK, I was looking and she clearly didn’t know what “to aspirate” was) I was so annoyed but there was nothing else to do 😡😡😡 I think a huge mistake is that non-healthcare workers are in charge of the vaccination program, something from my perspective SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS!

The first time I got a pre-prepared government statement which included the unbelievable statement that if blood was found upon aspirating, both the dose and syrynge would have to be discarded and this would be a waste of precious resources. !!!! I replied to this expressing my consternation that preventing serious harm to the patient was considered unnecessary and a waste, but didn't receive a reply. Each time I bled profusely and ended up with a hematoma under the site. I'm also extremely physically fit, so I'm not sure that has something to do with it. I have heard body builders say they hit vessels frequently as well, injecting whatever performance substances they're using, and it has made me wonder, as body builders are very fit individuals, if perhaps fitness has something to do with the vascularity of the delts in some people?

@KoDaBro That particular study, you're choosing to be selective with in order to be alarmist should be read through start to finish by anyone wanting to see how misleading ppl are being when citing sections of this. Why 11M people? The study was conducted using data from the US VETERAN AFFAIRS DATABASE, hey can't be any bias here, except the fact the majority were US WHITE MALES!! 153k+ cohort group with Covid and 2 control cohorts - 5.6M contemporary controls (with no evidence of Covid infection) and 5.8M as historical controls (subjects date back to before Covid). The study was designed to see any cardiovascular events 1 yr on from contracting Covid, Data was taken at the 30 d mark after contraction back in 03/2020 and followed up 12 months on, 01/2021 (looks like almost 12 months on?). "We show that, beyond the first 30 d after infection, individuals with COVID-19 are at increased risk of incident cardiovascular disease spanning several categories, including cerebrovascular disorders, dysrhythmias, ischemic and non-ischemic heart disease, pericarditis, myocarditis, heart failure and thromboembolic disease. These risks and burdens were evident even among individuals who were not hospitalized during the acute phase of the infection and increased in a graded fashion according to the care setting during the acute phase (non-hospitalized, hospitalized and admitted to intensive care). Our results provide evidence that the risk and 1-year burden of cardiovascular disease in survivors of acute COVID-19 are substantial. Care pathways of those surviving the acute episode of COVID-19 should include attention to cardiovascular health and disease." "Because some COVID-19 vaccines might be associated with a very rare risk of myocarditis or pericarditis, and to eliminate any putative contribution of potential vaccine exposure to the outcomes of myocarditis and pericarditis in this study, we conducted two analyses. First, we censored cohort participants at the time of receiving the first dose of any COVID-19 vaccine. Second, we adjusted for vaccination as a time-varying covariate. Both analyses were conducted versus both the contemporary and historical control groups. The results suggested that COVID-19 was associated with increased risk of myocarditis and pericarditis in both analyses." "This study has several limitations. The demographic composition of our cohort (majority White and male) might limit the generalizability of study findings. We used the electronic healthcare databases of the US Department of Veterans Affairs to conduct this study, and, although we used validated outcome definitions and took care to adjust the analyses for a large set of pre-defined and algorithmically selected variables, we cannot completely rule out misclassification bias and residual confounding. It is possible that some people might have had COVID-19 but were not tested for it; these people would have been enrolled in the control group and, if present in large numbers, might have biased the results toward the null. Our datasets do not include information on causes of death." Ref:Xie, Y., Xu, E., Bowe, B. et al. Long-term cardiovascular outcomes of COVID-19. Nat Med (2022). doi.org/10.1038/s41591-022-01689-3

@KoDaBro He is not saying there is a massive amount of blood vessels in the Deltoid to the point where we could start using that area from which to draw blood. He is saying the risk is present (appears to be 1 in 1,000 to 3,000) and occurs to people in rare cases that can be mitigated by simply aspirating. I am an RN trained at the University of Washington since 1994 and my father was an ER doctor and the Medical Director of the ER in my city for 30 years. Policies can be wrong and need to be changed. It happens all the time. Aspirating adds no risks but can reduce risks and takes seconds. Why anyone would resist this is beyond me. I for one, will never give an intramuscular injection without aspirating, as I was trained apparently when smarter heads prevailed. It is also a well known fact that about 3% of the population can have physiology that is different than the average person. (For example, in 3% of people, the major artery of the upper lip is on top of the muscle where in 97% of cadavers, the main artery is below the muscle much deeper in the lip.) This could also occur in the Deltoid and could account for some of the rare cases. All anyone is trying to do is keep people from getting hurt, no matter how rare when preventable.. The physicians first oath is to "Do no harm", and should be a nurses as well.

@KoDaBro I am going to respond .to just one post although I could respond to them all..too busy to live on KZread. 😅 Yes, I do know there are risks about the blood clots, heart issues etc post Covid, hence why I was referencing studies that show GREATER risks in certain categories of people and age groups for vaccine vs. Getting Covid. I am absolutely NOT anti vaccine. I stayed away from both of my parents for close to a year until they were both vaccinated because they were in a high risk category. Your perception of Dr. Campbell is interesting. The only studies I have see him reference have been peer reviewed. So, maybe we have seen different videos of his? I don't have enough time to get into the nitty gritty of all the other aspiration stuff....too much to explain. You do you. I know with 100% certainty aspiration is an important practice for safety and for your own safety I would recommend finding a provider that will do that for you. No one will be injecting a vaccine into my children or me without doing that. Call me crazy but I have been in the medical field for 28 years and am also a massage therapist. One could say I have more than a cursory knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Oh, and I am also a certified phlebotomist and an certified IV therapist. We only do blood draws from pretty superficial veins in the body. When you hit a deeper vessel in the muscle, you can blindly inject on accident into it, but you can't see it or feel it as when you perform phlebotomy. This is why we don't do blood draws on the Deltoid. It doesn't have extremely superficial vessels. The risk however, for injecting into a deeper vessel in still present, however rare it might be. Just because something is rare, does not mean we shouldn't take every precaution in preventing it. If it was you or a loved one that had had this happen to you, I venture to say you would be more willing to listen to people who know what they are talking about. And you most likely wouldn't think it rare enough to not take a simple precaution.

As a retired Registered Nurse who was taught to always aspirate,I would have never just shoved medicine into a patient without aspirating first. It takes 1 second. If you can’t afford 1 second extra with a patient then you need to find another career. Although it was rare I did on several occasions aspirate blood. You stop and redo everything. That does take extra time. But if you are a caring human being (and I certainly hope you are if you are giving injections of any kind to anyone or any animal)you do whatever it takes to take care of your patient. After all if you were the patient wouldn’t you want to be cared for in a kind, humane and safe manner. That nurse should be reprimanded for speaking to you in that manner to begin with. The nurse is supposed to take care of the patient not be a smart a*s. Like someone else has said to be a smart a*s,you have to be smart. Otherwise you are just an a*s. She is the latter.

So glad to see you covering this. I was researching aspiration last week having seen someone mention it on Twitter in comments.I found a study that was done in 2016 or 17 if I remember correctly, so I brought up the PDF and read the report. It made absolute sense. But the argument was that the patients preferred the faster shot, as it was less painfull. When aspirating they suggest to keep the needle part withdrawn for a time period of 5-15 seconds, which was basis for another argument that with so many to vaccinate it would take up too much time. Horrifying to think, that the lack of a safety procedure which only takes 5-15 seconds to perform has caused so much heartache.

Luckily, when I received my first dose from an Army medic they agreed to aspirate and thus far I have had no side effects (26 year old male with previous delta infection). Given my previous infection I will not be receiving a second dose any time in the near future. At my first Pfizer vax in March 2020 the veteran RN administering my IM injection was flabbergasted when I explained the WHO protocol on Covid vaccination had omitted the aspiration step. Now imagine what it is like to question the efficacy and safety of these vaccines and why they are being pushed so hard on healthy people at virtually no risk from Covid. Even if you imagine the vaccines are safe and highly effective it makes sense to ask these questions and be informed before having a foreign substance injected into your veins.

Good Germany! When I worked as a diabetes nurse, I recall attending several Becton & Dickinson needle producing company where Dr Krauss and his research team were training diabetes specialists to ensure that the needle length was adjusted to the depth of the fatty tissue in order to make sure that insulin was injected into the fatty tissue, NOT into the muscle, which would result in greatly accelerated absorption of insulin - causing potentially severe hypoglycaemia! All subcutaneous injection needles were changed into shorter ones - not 12mm long ones as was routinely used in adults and even in young children like our 4-year daughter who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Nowadays, many people with Type Diabetes can use patch pumps to deliver their insulin with a tiny needle of 2mm cannula! What a difference this has made to our daughter’s life as a busy mum of three and working with women who have given birth to a baby and are finding their new situation extremely difficult and stressful! No more hypos! Hence, injection technique as well as the needle length and the injection site are crucially important for the safe delivery of vaccines and insulin.

Having watched Dr. Campbell by the time I got my booster…I inquired of the administering nurse about the practice of aspirating . She said the practice had been deemed unnecessary so was not done anymore but she had been taught the way I had. She also said there had been talk of going back to the aspirating step. 🇨🇦here.

Spot on. Imagine the damage that would be done if nurses gave IM injections anywhere in the gluts? There's a very large nerve that goes across the gluts that could paralyse a patient if a needle went in it, let alone large blood vessels. Thats why it has to be giving in the upper outer quadrant. As a retired RN I will start refusing vaccines if they don't stick to the tried and tested methods. It's outrageous!

I even had to loose the syringe from the needle for 10 to 20 seconds to make sure no blood would come out. I don’t know what’s gonna become of her or if she’ll ever be able to get off the opioids she’s on just to get through the day/night. She’s a nurse, so she’s aware of what’s going on. If that was your friend, How would you feel about all of this? We’ve thrown empathy completely out the window. What do we even have left of society if we cease to care? And yes, if we allow ourselves to be constantly gaslit by so called experts , Who are basically shilling for industry through the media, How do we ever improve the situation? I don’t understand why it’s a problem to admit that there are risks involved. It’s unbelievable how trigger-happy and touchy everyone is to allowing that to be a possibility. When you are given a medication you are given a handout with very small print with all the possible side effects, But we are supposed to accept this as being something that has absolutely no side effects at all whatsoever? What fairyland reality is everyone living in? Have they never seen a pharmaceutical commercial where they call off endless possible risks at the speed of an auctioneer? And if you bring this up you’re some kind of nut job anti vaxer....If living through the past two years being thrown out of work and all that that entailed wasn’t enough, I have to endure keeping my mouth shut about this? Oh yes, and then we go back to my friend who’s in a devastating circumstance that I can do little about. She saw one of the head neurologist for Kaiser who told her that he was seeing a lot of small fiber neuropathy in his practice, and then later told her that she really ought to get the booster… That is what we are living with. Complete and utter insanity, selfishness and projection on the highest scale. Calling someone selfish for not wanting to risk taking an experimental medication that we know now doesn’t do anything to protect others, it’s just pure insanity. It’s agony to witness, it’s agony to keep quiet about. It’s just agony. I’m so grateful for this doctor. Where would it be without these people of integrity who are doing their best to inform us?

Congratulations. Your persistence and your interviews on DW helped get Germany to this. And probably your politeness to the authorities and institutions, even when they were behaving with a terrible blindness and dishonesty, helped too.

It makes me angry that this has been ignored for so long. People need to be held accountable and punished. I thanked God that I didn't get that metallic taste on my last jab, I felt I was playing Russian roulette. Still felt ill for two days though.

Yep a sampling procedure with bad and good luck. The more often you pick the higher the chances . Thats the reason why i didnt take the covid-V (besides being 37 and perfectly healthy, never had more than the sniffles in the last 5 years ) bc i knew there will be "bad logistics" in a global roll out like this with unseen quantities. Professor Wodarg in Germany had a good scatter diagram to see all the bad reactions..they all came from the same time and pallet probably (bad storage or some other reason) thats what happened with some of the influenza Vs too i dont have a good private doctor who would check the dose under the microscope before i would get the shot..therefore its just a lottery-- if we do this every year all the time with the entire population...there will be quality issues in unseen quantities .correction: there are already quality issues in unseen quantities thats why somebody has to hit the breaks right now

I think a lot of people feel this way about malfeasance. But who is to be held accountable? When's the last time a politician has been held accountable anywhere? They all have layer upon layer of protection from culpability. So who gets charged with what?

I think you should feel less angry about this. These decisions surely weren't easy for medical authorities, because they're unusually lacking in direct evidence. And the medical community has a clear history of getting "logic" wrong in all kinds of things when it comes to medicine, so there's a very good reason they try to keep logic to the hypothesis generation bit of research, and direct evidence for the policy bit - the interactions in the body are complex, confusing, and sometimes have weird indirect and unknown feedback leading to outcomes that can defy logic. Even now, it's not certain they made the right call; they're acting on the precautionary principle. The STIKO doesn't base itself on any cited evidence that aspiration _will_ help; rather, they're asserting that the precautionary principle applies: i.e. it's at least plausible that intravenous injection can be harmful (but only demonstrated in animal models at unrealistic concentrations), so it's best not to risk it, and therefore plausible - even without direct evidence - that aspiration is warranted. They cite only this article specifically: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34734240/ But the lack of direct evidence likely explains why this is taking so long and why it varies from place to place. And that's not malicious or insane; again, the medical industry has a pretty long history of getting "logic" wrong when it comes to treatment, so direct evidence is the norm for a reason.

When my husband and I got our 2nd dose and booster of the Moderna vaccine - that happened at the local hospital's pharmacy with a proper trained and experienced male nurse - he granted our request for aspiration with no problem. He said it was easy to do. This was in the Finger Lakes area, USA last December. Before that we called all the independent pharmacies not affiliated with the hospital in town, and received negative responses from all of them.

Because maybe it is. Years ago when “syringe technology” was very basic, and larger diameter and longer néedles were used, it was possible theoretically to get into a vein. But the difference in the technique this channel suggests and the proper technique are different. Proper technique prescribed a 5-10 second drawback, and not simply a quick tug as Dr John repeatedly describes. There are now “aspirating syringes” that are available for some meds. Not generally used for vaccines.

Hi John, I live in Australia, Tasmania, and had a booster last week at a government clinic. Before the vaccination I asked the nurse if she could aspirate. She was pleasant but firm and told me after some questioning that the government does not allow them to aspirate. I was surprised, because it is such a little thing to do, but the explanation was that, although there was little likelihood of ever drawing back blood into the syringe in that area, they would have to discard that dose and would not have a vaccination for me. I was gobsmacked, and asking if one dose of vaccine is more important than making people sick She did not have an answer, but said that I could try to find someone privately who would aspirate, a GP or a pharmacy.

When my husband and I did IVF almost 20 years ago I received daily injections for the first few months which he was taught to administer. It was given into my gluts and he was instructed to aspirate every time. It's not rocket science. Can't understand why something he was taught in about 5 minutes is now so difficult.

In the beginning of vaccination there was a lack of vaccines, maybe they did not want to loose a dose. Changing the policy now would mean to admit the first policy was wrong and people got hurt. People who got injured can file a suit and use that change in policy as an argument.
