Infection generates natural immunity

Which seems good and long lasting and cheap, lots of evidence below.

Dan et al (2021) Science, Immunological memory to SARS-CoV-2 assessed for up to 8 months after infection.

95% of participants tested retained immune memory at about 6 months after having COVID-19
More than 90% of participants had CD4+ T-cell memory at 1 month,
and 6-8 months after having COVID-19

Previous SARS-CoV-2 infection,
with an ancestral variant produce antibodies that cross-neutralise emerging variants of concern with high potency

So
Risk of repeat SARS-CoV-2 infection decreased by 80·5-100% among those who had had COVID-19
Protection from reinfection is strong and persists for more than 10 months of follow-up, (Hansen et al 2021 Lancet)

I live as part of a large extended family of 18 in a densely populated poorer suburb of Bangkok. Omicron has invaded our community with many double and triple vaxxed people succumbing to the virus. It's strange but I do not know one person in our community with natural immunity who has tested positive to omicron. Out of the ten of us that were hospitalised with delta so far not one of us has tested positive or are showing any symptoms. This surprises us because we have been and still are surrounded by positive cases. So just maybe natural immunity from delta does provide some degree of protection from omicron. Just an uneducated observation.

A superb edition, John, Thank you very much. You are right to pin-point lack of scientific background among mainstream journalists. How refreshing to get your rigorously data-driven content. Your ability to round up ten or more journal articles in one talk and illustrate them "on the fly" is nothing short of breathtaking. The mental agility, clinical judgement and background knowledge (e.g. your asides about the roles of T and B cells) is deeply impressive. Also: I love your basic but highly effective video technology set up. As an ex-BBC small time KZreadr in Physical Therapy and long-term podcaster in cancer medicine I would dearly like to know something about your setup? @@songforguy1 nobody has ever claimed that the vaccines provide long term immunity or 100% efficacy. However, the vaccines have been largely responsible for limiting hospitalization and deaths. The requirement to get a booster has always been to deal with the decline in immunity. The problem is you listening to this phony who is overstating the effects of natural immunity acquired from infection related immunity vs vaccine related immunity. John is not a scientist. He is not even a doctor. He is not an expert at immunology or virology. Nor has he any experience as a clinician. John is a nurse! And if you do your research, you will find the only publication that you can find from him is a set of notes of physiology for nursing. So when you see him cherry picking articles here and reading portions of them to you. You have to ask yourself, what experience in he drawing back on to critique the papers to decide what is relevant or non relevant. Or how much weighting to put on it. Does he have 1000s of hours in a lab testing vaccines or dissecting animal models or even humans in in clinical pathology to draw on to decide what is credible. Or is it more likely that he is just trolling the internet for any piece of evidence that fits his narrative to feed to his naive audience. It seems to me, he has certainly claimed more fame in his retirement from surfing the internet than he ever did in his so called illustrious career.

I chose not to rush into getting the vaccine. In November 2021 I decided to take an antibody test. My test revealed I had very robust antibodies, in fact above the upper limit. Here in NY and the States in general, natural immunity means nothing and the only immunity is through vaccination. It's very frustrating knowing that my immunity is probably stronger, yet I'm restricted in things I can do because I'm unvaccinated. Frustrating indeed.

We did not have a fever and felt generally OK! My friend who is unvaccinated also sailed through covid last year. We are all 56-57 years old. We have all been taking supplements and especially 4000iu vitamin D. I was not happy to be vaccinated although I can see the risk benefit for people of high risk. I have watched many hours of videos by John Campbell, Ph.D., and I do not remember him ever advocating forced COVID-19 "vaccination". He repeatedly cites data showing natural immunity is superior to COVID-19 "vaccination" and says there appears to be no advantage to vaccinating someone who already has natural immunity. Regarding the title "Dr.", I recall interviewing the director of education at the American Osteopathic Association in Chicago who said he had a PhD but refused to use the title "Dr" because, he told me, he thought the title should be reserved for physicians. When somebody says, "I need to see a doctor" or "My doctor said...", they mean a physician, not somebody with a PhD. Addressing somebody as "doctor" because he or she has a PhD in English literature or economics or history or a Ed.D. degree (e.g., "Dr." Jill Biden, USA First Lady) creates unnecessary confusion -- regardless of how the term developed or was used in the distant past. In America, all newly minted lawyers have doctorate degrees but are not addressed as "Dr."

@@rodpanhard No, I recall John Campbell saying that people who had SARS COV 1 still had some immunity a decade or more later and this was in the spring of 2020. He suggested then that such immunity can be generated but at that time it was just his conjecture that it was true with SARS COV 2. I have always believed that to be the case since John brought it up but NOW we have the data, albeit not peer reviewed. This belief is very common and likely explains why there is SO much resistance to vaccine mandates Nuff said. Have a nice day

Actually, the guilt lies with these agencies who are giving advice, and also control their population as to how Doctors are allowed to Treat their patients and what they're allowed to prescribe their Covid patients. These agencies are actually dangerous, as they were given the power to control not only doctors, but have given the power to Pharmacists to deny life saving drugs to Covid patients .

The vast majority of studies he allegedly read are from well before Omicron - demonstrating that natural immunity is VASTLY better than the nonsense the "vaccines" impart. But, if you've been following this guy, you'll have seen that he always pushes the vaccines, and minimized, ignored, or discarded evidence that natural immunity was a thing with COVID. To all you posters that are gleefully accepting what is being presented here, don't be lazy and accept this information without your own research. That is the problem today, too many people willing to completely accept what someone else has stated / presented simply because it reinforces the belief they already have. Read the Lancet report in it's entirety, as already mentioned bay another poster, the Lancet study states, "However, we observed that individuals aged 65 years and older had less than 50% protection against repeat SARS-CoV-2 infection. Because the older age group is more prone to a serious clinical course of illness, this finding highlights the need to implement protective measures for the older population in the form of effective vaccines and enhanced physical distancing and infection control, even in those known to be previously infected. Furthermore, our data indicate that vaccination of previously infected individuals should be done because natural protection cannot be relied on."

Hi John, just wanted to say that from my experience, infection definately gives strong long term immunity. I was unlucky to have confirmed covid in May 2020. Since then I've had multiple contacts with several covid cases (family i live with and ppl at work) confirmed with tests and actively spreading the virus with cough and sneezing. Even though I was exposed many times I've never caught covid again. I was testing myself every time i was in contact with such person but but was always negative and had no symptomes, so these studies strongly support my experience with covid and immunity.

It was very mild for me. Never tested, but my brother ended up getting it from me and it took him out for about 2 weeks. So I’m pretty sure it was covid. He hadn’t had covid prior. My sister just recently tested positive for covid and we were around her, didn’t get sick at all. So I do believe I had omicron right after having delta. Which would make sense considering delta infection doesn’t have immunity towards omicron.

The only thing that needs justification is enforcing vaccination. We had that justification before Omicron and for the first and second dose. I'm personally vaccinated twice, and yes, I "refuse" to get a booster shot given that Omicron has taken over. I've looked at the data and concluded that for me a booster shot will have more risks than getting infected with Omicron at this point. And yeah, I can absolutely see why someone who's had a confirmed natural infection would also make the call not to get vaccinated.
