[PLEASE see video description below] The Science of Yoga (Part 5 - Presence)

PLEASE NOTE: In relation to the part that mentions food, this was based on personal experience at a certain time and may not be true for all. My own view of this is also changing. Ultimately the past is healed through presence only. Bringing the energies of the past into the present is key. Diet is probably a secondary issue and may not even be relevant for some people.
Bringing the past into the present.

    I struggled with this for a long time and I had been very familiar with being present and Eckhart Tolles teaching Etc and none of that helped me. What did help me is actually using conscious thought to replace unconscious automatic negative thought. I had to keep my mind occupied 24 hours a day with positive affirming thoughts. Using the mind for conscious purposes slowly the old habitual patterns started to fade but I also had to do this in conjunction with diet, exercise, meditation, abstaining from too much pleasure. Also I found the more vital power I had the more I was able to break free of the past which made me realize that when we are in a low vibration, our low States will dress itself up as our past. Your low vibration is the primary cause for your post-traumatic stress

    in all videos 1 - 9 the most important prerequisite in yoga is yama and niyama and the first goal is to get out of the prison of materialism and its influence and what is never told that yoga increases the intellectual power to a unconceivably level - but this what people do not want - they want sensations and sensations

    my only objection is that its not just a habit its a survival mechanism. say i eat a berry and i get sick, well if if i dont remember that from time to time I'm likely to forget so if i come across the berry again i might eat it. the past is not useless to the present it carries things that we have learned. the point is just to not live in the past but let it visit. similarly if i never thought of the future i would probabaly be an alcoholic and drop out of school

    How what we eat can influence our tendency to think about past or future? In other words, how is biochemical environment related to neural pathways? Is there any scientific explanation of this connection or is it just a belief?

  • @Infognostica

    It relates to the yogic concept of Ama, which in some cases are past emotions - if the diet doesn't change Ama will simply stay there. They induce thinking of the past.

  • @EmanueleTerrana

    @EmanueleTerrana

    The whole concept of Ama or negative energy or whatever reminds me of stress hormone and/or proinflammatory molecules. Diet does affect our body (heck, it even affects our gene expression, anyway, going off topic..) A quick search on scholar and.. take this 2016 paper for example: "The effect of diet components on the level of cortisol". It looks to me a bit biased, as this correlation is not clear. Yet I think modern science is going to be able to explain dogmas and beliefs, thus rediscovering old truths. What do you think?

  • @Infognostica

    @Infognostica

    +Emanuele Terrana Yeah "even gene expression" - shows how deep its effect is..

  • @filipkowal2722

    +Emanuele Terrana Thanks for you input and sorry for late response. Yeah, I believe that there is a lot of truth in old knowledge and much of it will be confirmed by modern science. Paper you mentioned is a nice example. +Infognostica I hope there will be more science in next videos called 'Science of...'. Nevertheless, it really is a nice way of getting to know about yoga.

    "We make and store memories by forging new neural pathways to the brain". "Long-term memory retrieval requires revisiting the nerve pathways the brain formed." (Howstuffworks). Neural pathways are surely associated with memories.

    Infognostica Hi. I should’ve been more precise. The message is good and there is science supporting it. It’s just that neural pathways aren’t the grooves of the brain nor thought groups, they’re a sequences of areas of the brain connected.

    Forget not neural pathways for thinking and walking. Change neural ignition process, and canalise a different direction. But do not forget, otherwise you will be doomed. There is too much generalisation in this video.
