I remember back when I was in high school there was a grandmom who went around the campus picking up recyclables to be able to raise money for her granddaughter to be in cheer and to go to college. Her daughter was so embarrassed by her actions, often mocked her in public, pretended not to know her and even went as far to walk in the opposite direction if they were there. I’m glad that this person appreciates what her grandmother did for them because it’s not easy. Earning $30 a day back then to earning practically nothing today is difficult. Like she said, “I’m not stealing, I’m just picking up trash and cashing it in for money.” People do what they can with what they have. I hope the grandmother can stop doing that and focus on her health. She raised them well and now they want to help her in return.

As someone who was almost primarily raised by my grandparents, especially my grandmother for many years, this broke my heart. Who are these evil, vile, vicious people harassing this sweet little grandmother on the street?! The woman is literally picking up trash to support her family and people have the nerve to look down on her?! Shame on them! I hope God continues to watch over this family and blesses them always. In all honesty Grandmother is NOT going to change any of her habits - not at her age. She has the obligation of making sure her 2 grandchildren are taken care of even when its obvious that isn't the case anymore and thats too deeply engrained into her. It sad that her Doctor(s) couldn't prescribe meds for her depression but as is the case for so many - not just Idols/Celeberties - but average people Mental Illness has been and will continue to be swept under the rug with no proper treatments given. At some point this lovely Grandmother is going to get killed and those 2 grandchildren will have so much guilt which they shouldn't have to live with.

In Korea this is a big hidden issue, elders are left to do this work because lack of finances and also lack of family support, it’s hidden because they don’t want it to be shown. There is a whole documentary about this, they had a hard time getting any of the grandparents to be on the doc because kids and officials wouldn’t allow it, but they follow one grandma who lives in a little apartment, collecting and sorting all day. She says all her money went to her kids.

I can absolutely relate to this granddaughter. My grandmother passed away last year and she raised me since I was young. The sad thing was she passed away before I could see her again. Six years had passed since I last saw her and when I heard she had passed away, I felt like the whole world just took away my heart. And it's just horrible to see that people are so mean to the point where they forget that other humans exist and have feelings too and their feelings can be hurt as well. I truly admire this grandmother's work ethic and love for her grandkids and truly commend her for all that she had done for them. She has truly raised them very well. I bawled throughout the whole video because I was so taken aback and I felt like I miss my grandmother so much too... I just hope that we could all stop for a minute and think about how we treat others every day... Just treat other people with respect. No one is superior to anyone and at the end of the day, we're all human

I love my grandparents, my grandma so much I would cry if she had to work this hard My grandparents helped raised me and my older brother for a long time (my parents tried to get an education to get a better job to support us) and I could never thank them enough for what they did for my family
