    14:01 As someone who spent a decent amount of my head stuck into tube amps and old radios, I can say just from the looks that this is very well built. Solder joints look flawless, they use the right tin at the right temperature and the whole component arrangement is a beautiful hommage to past times when there were no PCBs at all.I personally would have put some more autism into the wire shaping around the tube sockets, but that's just me who never had to produce stuff at a volume.

    saw this review aboot when it came out. was very impressed. i am neither very good nor well off, but i kept an eye on their website. they make two small heads, one watt and five watt. about a year ago i scored the 5w at a slight price drop and just love it. having b/m/t EQ with the bright/warm switch with a choice of a tube or diode rectifier gives you such different feeling sounds ! plays well with every pedal and guitar i have used with it. five watts does not sound like much, but this big little wAng has so much volume i had to get an attenuator to keep from being evicted... thanks DB, you are such a help to this old newbie.

  • @Annunaki_0517

    @Annunaki_0517

    8 ай бұрын

    Most people don’t realize that 5w is PLENTY of power. The way wattage relates to volume is not linear but rather logarithmic, so in order to have an amp that’s twice as loud you’d need 50w. That’s why most people say that a dimed 50w Plexi is too loud to play in the same room. I’m sure your 5w little Plexi sounds great and gives you great tone at a volume you can play in your house without the neighbors calling the cops. Remember, Layla was recorded with a 5w amp (a tweed Fender Champ).

  • @DMSProduktions
    @DMSProduktions4 жыл бұрын

    I didn't think much of that o/d tone, but that CLEAN! JUST how you'd WANT a clean valve amp TO sound! The way AROUND the 'channel' switching would be to use an A/B/Y pedal, plug into both and switch between the 2 to get your clean/dirty!

  • @Stashmanfpv

    @Stashmanfpv

    2 жыл бұрын

    The input circuits aren’t designed that way. Plugging into both inputs and using an ABY pedal doesn’t switch to hi, or low channels, or channel switching as you’d mentioned. I wish it did, as I tried this already and after speaking with factory, it unfortunately doesn’t work like that… ✌🏼

  • @DMSProduktions

    @DMSProduktions

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Stashmanfpv Ok, thanks! The sockets are probably LINKED before the padding circuit! You could probably rewire it so both inputs are seaparate from each other, then an ABY pedal would work with it! Thanks for the info!

    I’ve had one of those Wangs 2204 heads for about 8 months. It’s my go to Marshall sound. About a year and a half ago I tried the 5 watt Mini 5 head and was so impressed I got their OD-30 a few months later. They’re not expensive considering their quality and put the comparable Asian built amps by Western brands to shame. They are definitely in the league of the Western brand’s domestically produced high end gear.

    Wow, great cleans! Nice grind too but those cleans are stunning. Dirty is really in Malcolm Young territory. Something I would have liked to hear is how it cleans up in the high input with the preamp turned up- as a single channel amp made to be like the Marshall, most players of that era would crank their amps and just turn the guitar volume down for clean parts.

    Guns and Guitars did a review of the tiny all-tube 5watt and 1watt amp head. Those things are incredible for the money

    Yep, if ya google black wangs vs White wangs you can get comprehensive detail oriented comparisons. 😀 of course, depending on user's experience, skill level, additiinal equipment and accessories brought to the table. (Or bedrroom/location of choice.)

    Hi Darrell. I'm glad you gave a test to the Wangs series. I have the 5W model modded to a custom made 1x12 cab with a Celestion Alnico Blue and it sound phenomenal! I wonder what the differences are between the 2204HW and the 1987HW but nontheless they are build with awesome quality components and give tonz of tone :P Keep it up man

    Sounds fantastic in clean. Didn't care much for the distortion, but maybe thats because I like heavier modern metal type of distortion.

    Great demo of a really nice looking/sounding amp. How would it have sounded with the master cranked and the volume kept low to manage the preamp gain? Hope I didn't miss this is you included it in the video!

    Hi Darrell What about the 15Watt model used at home is it so nice, like the big brother you show us in this channel ??

    Darrell should have mentioned that tube amp's filter caps should always be discharged before prodding inside the amps, as they can store lethal voltages that can literally kill you! NEVER open up a tube amp and start touching things inside if you don't discharge the caps first, or you're literally risking your life!

    I think this is the first time I've seen your face as you played. I love your channel and this reminds me of the sound that I got from my 1960's Fender Princeton Reverb. BTW, where can I get the 3 Humbucker SG? (Wasn't it called a Les Paul back then)

    Biyang / Wang's 🤔 Got a sticker with my pedals, put it on my amp. "Wang's" 😂 No doubt - they are really good at what they do at the plant. The new:ish "live" pedal/module-system is ingenious.

    yep that is the same ''team''. Only biayng pedals or tonefancier have normal prices while they start to catch Westerns with this Wangs 'boutique''. In general boutique amp scene is such huge lie, to sell 100's of same mass made amps as boutique is ridiculous but seems to work well as marketing trick for last 10-15 years ☺☺☺.
