    Not quite related to this video but I posted a few vids ago in your speedrun video that I went from 500 to 800. Well now I'm at 1000. This is unreal, but, seriously, yo have no idea how much your simple series helped me, please please please keep it up and once it's done consider doing more videos where you explain your reasoning like that because it is SO helpful Once again, thanks

    I don't understand the obsession with the GM title by chess fans (well I do, I get that it's the top of the top and people are attracted to that.) The reason Eric doesn't go for the GM title is likely because he doesn't care to. He is still a better chess player than 99% of players and he has a successful career. More successful than plenty of GMs. He would have to likely abandon the success of his career just to commit to studying chess, something he's probably not interested in seriously commiting to at this stage of his life. I'm willing to bet Eric likes what he does now. It's not an unreasonable question, it just bugs me how people hound IMs with the question. He's a great player. If he wants to go for GM, he will. But I don't think he does.

    The comment in chat about why "pinning your own rook is the top computer move" refers to the computer suggesting Rf2 for white at 8:50. To be honest, I'm not seeing the point either. Is it simply to bait black into winning the exchange back because the dark square bishop is too powerful?

  • @lmabacus404

    @lmabacus404

    14 күн бұрын

    I think the idea is that black's bishops are too active and white's b2 pawn is too weak for white to maintain being up the exchange. So of the two ways to defend b2, Rf2 at least frees up the c rook to infiltrate. And if black wins back the exchange, at least that's one fewer piece that can threaten b2. Though the engine has Rc2 and Rf2 as both being drawing in the end.
