Playing Canon Rock at my sister's wedding
Музыка
Congrats again to my sister Ashley for her marriage to Benji!
So I only had about two weeks to learn this before the wedding, and I had to perform it in-front of about 150 people (I hadn't played to a crowd since high school back in 2013). I made A LOT of mistakes even though my practice runs were a bit better, but everyone seemed to enjoy the performance and that really helped with the nerves. Once I master it, I want to make a proper KZread cover; those sweeps will be conquered.
This was filmed in Feb before the covid-19 virus reached Australia.
2024-01-29 Edit
There have been a few questions and discussions about what version of Canon Rock this is, so here's the answer: The backing track that I played to was supplied by Jerry C from many years ago, and I based this performance off his original version. Of course I made my own adjustments here and there, but the bulk is based on Jerry C's video with some personal tweaking

To play this on you tube is one thing. To play it with a difference on you tube is another. To play it live in front of a proper audience and not balls it up totally is epic. Deep respect.

thank you for the kind words! I definitely did better during practice, I was really nervous as this was my first audience in like 8 years I'd love to do a better quality youtube cover eventually, but all the support for this live performance has been really heart warming, so I'm not sure if it's warranted anymore :)

YO THIS IS ON TUBA????
Unless your a musician, I don't think you could understand how much it takes to learn a piece of music like that then practice, practice, practice, then nail it and then try and nail it again in front of a crowd and not let pressure or nerves get the better of you. You have my respect.

The best performance ive seen in a wedding! Great job
Definitely the Most Precious and Priceless gift your sister ever recieved on her wedding day.
He started sounding like budding guitarist at a wedding to show off his skills but when he hit his first note I knew he is talented. It does not just require skill but it needs tons of patience to get every note correct and that too it is a live performance !! Wonderful 👌
Boss you did what I had dreamt of... Seeing that kid with the cap playing this, i was so mesmerized, it got me started with guitar.....but like everything i did not continue and gave up....you did it man!

I can't quantify how many hours I spent watching that funtwo kid play Canon rock back in the early days of youtube
I don't go to weddings, but if I had a chance I'd never miss this one 😍
What a performance, we are so thrilled from the beginning, but the lady at the table realized only after few quick gobbles, if I was performing at that time I would wait till the end of her eating.
bro im literally cryin and wishing one day i can play it on my brother wedding too, u inspired me!! 🔥🔥
Dude just lived every guitar players dream
You absolutely smashed that. Congratulations. To pull that off, under that kind of pressure, is a feat of which to be truly proud. Well done, Sir.
Gosh, that was such a wonderful performance and the greatest gift you could ever give. Well done young man your wee sister must be so proud of you.
One of my friends asked me if I could play this song when she was getting married. I tried real hard to learn it, but after a month or two of practice I still couldn't get the first or second sweep picking part fast enough, and decided there was no way I was getting the whole song down in time for her wedding. Well done dude.
very clean... nice bruh 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I just listen to it for a few seconds and it already brought me to a place that I had been a long time ago. A place where time does not exist but only happiness and dreams. Thank you for your great voice for singing this wonderful song. Bravo!
Epic, brother! To do this for your sister shows a deep love and reverence for family. Respect. 🎸🇺🇸
I got second hand anxiety thinking about playing that in front of a crowd after a bet from years and years ago lmao incredible composure, absolutely killed it
Couldn't stop smiling whilst watching this! Insane!
How amazing is this!! I can’t believe how perfect you played this in one take, important day and wow you completely nailed it!!! I’ve watched this several times I am in awe sir
Love it! Glad to see the people appreciating it as well. Impressive
The story behind it made me cry... I'm weak xD

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. A sign of weakness is being so insecure with a normal human emotion that one feels the need to bully others for having that emotion.
Now that was something!!! Hats down, pure awesomeness!!!
Dude this was so cool to watch. I can't imagine playing in front of an audience. Amazing job
Love it man! This piece is actually legendary.
Just just just just amazing!!!!
Bro, I wish I am your sister. Please continue to play, you've made my day.
The light is just perfect
This is a great cover. He nailed the vibrato beautifully on the fly.
The sound and the feel are perfect. Great job mate!
OmFG this was my best childhood mp3 music that I always listened to while going to middle school at subway, on bus, or even in the morning and before I go to sleep. Great performance 😆
The fact you done this in one take in front of a crowd is hugely impressive! The cannon rocks I'm sure we've all heard I imagine took several takes!
idk why but this made me cry, may be its the nostalgia
the sweep picking is very clean, and I heard and felt each note. Great job in making your sister's wedding awesome.
I love this version of the song, I’ve been trying at that Sungha Jung tab for a bit now. You rocked it man!
crushed it! kick ass brother and Congrats to both Families!!!
That was SOOO GOOD!
You know those 2am motivation right ? As i was in that kind of situation, watching Kanon Rock stuff and i found your video. And i gotta say, you killed it. And your video made me wanna actually settle down and learn this song. Great performance, love it and love the story that came with it.
best wedding gift ever 👏👏👏 well played well played
I've not heard this version before. So cool & so well done!! Way to go!!
The algorithm bought me to this, thank you for sharing! You absolutely nailed it. I can barely follow a backing track at hald speed in the comfort of my own home, this was epic!
You made your sister proud...and I bet yourself, too. Nicely done!
Absolutely nailed it
"im gonna give it a good attempt" Proceeds to kill it.
Unbelievable!!! Nailed it live, YOU ROCK 🤘
Found this version of yours whilst looking for a definitive one for a similar purpose (friends wedding), and man you absolutely nailed it! All the bedroom recitalists are great, but to do it like that, under pretty massive pressure, standing up, and whilst having to wear a shirt and bow tie? You sir, absolutely do (Canon) Rock! 😎
Ahhhh yessss the wedding music
Well done! That was phenomenal. 👏
You know damm well the whole old KZread canon rock fan will be watching you!! Well done you did so great!!
This was incredible! Great job dude.
"I didn't quite get it" and then proceeds to smash it like a freaking unit, nice job!
Hats off sir. Take a bow.
And he don't quite get it... that was awesome! Totally nailed it!!
Now that was an accomplished performance, very well done. The hours you spent learning this classic rocker paid off in full. I swear at times your hand was like a blur across that fretboard.
When he got through the tapping sweep part you can tell the nerves were gone.
Yeah...you slayed it bro! What a great live performance! it's not easy!
I get really nostalgic whenever I hear canon rock. Great performance, my friend! The wedding must had got even better from the performance! Haha
Duuuuuuuudeeeee!!!! This is sick and such a good way to keep a promise absolutely smashed it 🤟🤟👌
You did awesome man ! Killed it !
you played it perfectly man wow, make covers here too ! this is some golden class mastery
Well played Brother. Best wishes to you and Family!
dude... this is so beautiful moment... 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😭😭😭😭😭😭

as a non professional guitarist you really killed it , there is mistake made but you keep on playing it and made it right !!! this is really really really good !!!
Came for the rock, stayed till the end. You killed it man 👌🏽
This is so amazing,i wish i could do something like this in my sister's wedding as well.
This is fantastic.
That women at the back I think she's jealous 😂 Nice played 🙏👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹
Chillssssss. LITERAL CHILLS!!!!!
Idk why but it sounds like a perfect instrumental for a Green Day's song
Now I’m definitely gonna play this at my brothers wedding
Now you have motivated me to play this at my own wedding
Absolutely smashed that son!!!! Bravo Sir🤝🙊
Great sound. It was a nice present to your sister. Congratulations.
