It is an amazing feeling when you see how a simple melody turns into a masterpiece before your eyes! There are no words to express my gratitude for this lesson!
HAVE NOT SEEN NOR HEARD A BETTER COMPACT JAZZ REVIEW. YEARS OF JAZZ EDUCATION IN ONE VIDEO. WAW.
Christmas carols seem to get new life in them when jazzed.beautifull.
I am a member of Piano with Jonny too and I am learning this song over there . Great place to learn piano. Infact I have quit several online websites in favor of theirs. The downloadable backing beats and smart sheet music make practicing so much fun. Worth every penny. And instructional videos like these can not be beat. Cheers
Fabulous! We need more of these jazzy Christmas videos. Really enjoyed the breakdown of each chordal possibility and choice.

Then, bringing it all home to the beginning. I repeated it all to understand the major, major 7th, 11th, and so on. How hopeful I would feel to have these kinds of instruction learning many more songs. (And also learn typing as well!)
Hi there, your channel is awesome, guys. But a quick tip just to make it more efficient and helpful for beginners is that you should colour the right hand notes in green and the left hand notes in red. Thanks guys!
Thanks for the beautiful ballad and all the theory. Maybe I'll learn it by Christmas --- 2023!
You're a very clear explainer -- not only of what you did (adding extra notes), but also WHY, according to theory! Excellent demonstration.
Wonderful. As soon as you start looking into playing a musical instrument a whole new amazing world opens up to you. Thank you.
Great video! THANK YOU for offering this tutorial and arrangement. I really like your patient teaching style - learning theory and the “whys” of jazz style while having fun playing a nice holiday tune that’s entirely doable! 🎹 🥇
Fantastic video. One simple tune used to explain so much about (jazz) harmony and expecially, WHY it works so well.
Hi thanks You Very much 🎀🎀🎀
Great lesson. Concepts clearly explained. Thank you and Happy Holidays
Absolutely lovely! Thank you for this tutorial.
Fabulous- huge amount to digest ( hopefully apply, too!) but really clear & lovely melodic version. Very inspiring, as (always) is Jonny..thanks, guys & have good Christmas times!
Very clear and useful as usual. I have to admit that I had ten years ago a very good teacher of harmony at University in Nice, it was very difficult at the time because I had no idea about harmony, but now I am so happy about the work I did. Next step now it is to put into practice that knowledge, which is esier to say than to do. Thanks anyway, amazing teaching
Nicely done 👍🏾 I was working on that song trying to flavor it up and this is right on time, thanks 😊
Wonderful substitute harmonies! Thank you - I've upgraded my arrangement accordingly.
Getting back into piano after 30 years. This is awesome.
Wonderful tutorial! Love reharmonized ballads! One of the most satisfying things of being a pianist. This is a great version, not too crazy, just right. Thank you for doing this!
Great explanation. Please, We need more videos like this. Thanks dear Jonny and Yanick.

Am enjoying learning this, thanks Yanick and Jonny...seasons greetings from France.
Thank you so much! My resolution for the next year is to play piano jazz. And this will be my Christmas song this year...
Outstanding MERRY CHRISTMAS ...and THANK YOU ☮️❤️🎼🇺🇸🎄
It sounds great. I feel the most important aspect of your lesson is showing the rest of us the method of turning any song into a much richer tune by using all those seventh, diminished or whatever other more complex chords. I doubt I will ever be able to use this method to jazzify some of my favorite simple songs. Nevertheless, it's a real pleasure listening to your performance and teaching efforts. Thanks a lot. Best wishes.
Thank you teacher....
this one is really educational for a jazz noob like me xD
Love this arrangement awesome

Now that it's November 1, I'll take a hard look at this. And wish I had paid attention when it first came out months ago. I love this sound.

Great tutorial Yannick! I like the way you take time to go over the theory in chord passages and substitutions. You take a very easy simple song and make it sound so beautiful. Bravo! Can I obtain the sheet music for your tutorials? Thanks Yannick and Johnny. Two great musicians. Mike
I'm playing that song at my school
17:45 that B7b9 i heard that in Chopin - Prelude in E minor before omg :OOO
Yes Edward 💯👍
make Feliz Navidad lesson plz
Niceee
Beginner at the piano, but I still got so much out of this. Looking forward to the days when I'm good enough to wear a hat indoors.
Great arrangement, just what I was looking for, but can you add an intro? Would be appreciated.
👍👍🔥
this would be useful for rickrolling thx xD
LOVE THE TUTORIAL, Didn’t quite get how you spelled out the Dm7 chord. Would you mind a slow explanation as I am a bit of a neophyte. Thanx a lot!!! John

Thank you John! We are adding an "extension" or additional note above the Dm7 chord to make it DFACE. The E is what we call the 9th. It works nicely because the E is the melody.
👌🎸
Is there a lesson of the arrangement that you played at the beginning of the video?
what brand is your piano
I for Hope You do IT Jonny.
In first bar: do I have to ad 7 for getting 9 (or can I skip the 7) ???
